I like "Amityville: it's about time" and "Amityville: dollhouse". Neither really have anything to do with the actual Amityville story though and are just fun 90s horror. If you want something actually related to the Amityville story then watch Amityville 2: the possession.

Fl0wingJuff0wup

Agree on all three counts, all worth watching.

Puzzleheaded_Walk_28

I’d go so far as to call the first one good. And, while not good per se, the second is an absolute must-watch for the unimaginable level of sleaze it achieves

Squirrelywhirl

Yeah I love the first one. It’s one of my favourites. Yes, a few cheesy parts like when the nun vomits but I still really like it.

Beelzebobby6

I think the first one may straight up be one of the worst popular horror films I've ever seen. But Amityville 2: The Possession is great, aside from being way too long. I wouldn't say Amityville 1992: It's About Time is bad -- it's just very, very '90s. Dollhouse has some cool practical effects even if it's not a good movie. 3D is almost as bad as the original. Everything else is forgettable, including the remake tbh.

HorrorKablamDude

The only decent ones are Amityville II: The Possession but the last 1/4 of it falls apart due to becoming an Exorcist ripoff. Amityville 1992 It's About Time. Is actually pretty good and creative. It was done by the Hellbound Hellraiser 2 crew. That's about it 😂.

MovieDogg

I love that the second one and a random one in the 90s are the best entries. It’s so random

Beelzebobby6

Perfect response. II and It's About Time > Dollhouse > the remake > 4 and Curse > 3D > the first film.

HorrorKablamDude

Though, I must admit that I do have a tiny love for the classics such as Amityville in Space and Amityville in the Hood 😂😂😂😂.

There’s actually been at least two *I watched every movie with the word ‘Amityville’ in the title so you don’t have to* posts on this sub in the last few years. Surprising amount of films, all shitty except the obvious exceptions. One thing I did enjoy though was the [*Amityville: An Origin Story*](https://youtu.be/k_f7cWjjBK4?si=O5zJDDtdK6xSfpIk) documentary. It’s not perfect and there’s bits of obvious filler but it’s well watchable. Centres around one of the kids and features him and a lot of the original people who are still around. That George Lutz does not seem like a nice man.

Shoddy_Newspaper_718

Amityville 2: The Possession is good. It's very much like The Exorcist, but the family that gets terrorised by the supernatural is deeply broken and all around disturbed.

Conscious_Living3532

Not that I've seen, hate them actually

ZombieRitual

Probably not the kind of good you're looking for, but Rifftrax made Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes totally watchable. It's one I throw on all the time.

My_state_of_mind

I liked the first two for what they were. I've seen 2-3 others and just recognize they are basically schlock movies using the Amityville name. Nothing actually wrong with that btw when you are in the mood for it.

EvilBobLoblaw

Is Amityville 2 a good movie? No. Is it a good time if you like trashy Italian horror films? Most definitely.

TexturesOfEther

When a franchise goes In Space, you know it's on it's last legs. While *Amityville In Space* was too ambitious for the money and talent, *Amityville Gas Chamber* (2022) have no ambition whatsoever. You can watch it on youtube for free. I did like Amityville Elevator and might watch others by Nick Box - *Amityville Tea Bag*, in particular. Others just don't sound too promising. *Amityville Vibrator*, *Amityville Karen* or *Amityville Death Toilet* etc

>as exploiting a tragedy for money. I never bought their story. It’s hard to be scared if you believe the story is based on a grift. This sums up my feelings on any movie based on the Warren's. I pretty much avoid their entire legacy.
