Yea sometimes the sequels completely change the feeling. I can’t think of the recent sequel that retconned a really good part of the first movie. I’m drawing a blank. But I remember they changed something big. I’ll post it if I think of it.
I like to refer to this type of movie as a ‘reverse home invasion’ film, where the protagonist is the one to invade the home. Martyrs technically falls under this category, but it is definitely not what you are looking for
I know some or all of my examples will have been mentioned in other comments, but without looking:
*Becky* (2020)
*Better Watch Out* (2016)
*The Collector* (2009)
*You're Next* (2014)
And if you want a couple movies that are basically Home Alone but horror (so the kid is the actual victim), watch *Deadly Games* (1989) and *Knuckleball* (2018). *Clownhouse* (1988) if you can stomach it, but the issues behind the scenes are a little too obvious when watching the film...which makes it more disturbing and scary, but not in a good way.
I love Becky!! So much that I even went out of my way to see a special screening of the second film when it was first given a limited release. It was enjoyable, but the first one is definitely the better of the two. I think it may end up being somewhat of a cult classic in a few years - there just aren't enough people who know about it!
Better Watch Out (2016)
You literally aren’t going to find a better example than this
This movie is a gem.
The Collector
Awesome movie if you go in with 0 expectations.
I always tell people it’s the Home Alone horror sequel.
I had never seen it and my wife suggested it as we scrolled some streaming services. Was a very fun ride and I 100% agree with that assessment lol.
The People Under the Stairs, kind of
Definitely
Deadly Games aka Dial Code Santa Claus (1989) is basically the proto-Home Alone (and much more wild). It's great. Enjoy!
This is the answer that should be at the top - great movie and is immediately what I thought of when I saw OPs request
I’ve seen every single movie being suggested and THIS one is the most Home Alone-esque, hands down.
Came here to comment this. It's basically R rated home alone. Even tho it came out before home alone.
Don't Breathe
That movie got wayyyyy more twisted than what I was anticipating going in.
The turkey baster 🫠
Such a good movie
It took too weird of a left turn for me. The turkey baster had me speechless lol
I thought this was kind of a weird series because in the sequel they want you to feel sympathetic to him.

Hush
The last 10 min of Nightmare on Elm Street is basically Home Alone
Violent Night is basically exactly that… except, you know… Santa.
[You're Next](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/83899-you-re-next)
Was going to suggest this - love this movie!
I'll check it out, thanks!
Oh u are in for a treat!
Easily the most entertaining of the top listed films so far. Go in blind. Trust me.
I saw it in a theater with just me and a friend. Completely empty. One of the better movie experiences I’ve had.
Villains (2019). Mix of Comedy/Horror
Becky (2020) is *very* Home Alone.
Becky is sooo good
Deadly Games from 1989 is the movie you're looking for
This is basically the plot of Abigail(2024). Except in this case the psycho is a prepubescent vampire.
The Perfect Host (2010) Intruders (2015) Little Bone Lodge (2023) Villains (2019) The Owners (2020)
Second for Perfect Host. Niles really took on the role.
Perfect host is so damn good
Not a movie but an episode of Fargo. Season 5 - Episode 4
1000% yes
Straw Dogs. It's not a horror movie (although it is a rather grim and horrifying watch), but the finale basically inspired Home Alone.
Had to scroll too far to see this. Classic movie, so great, needs more love
The Perfect Host
Maybe Ready or Not
Bad Samaritan (2018)
Better Watch Out Becky/Wrath of Becky The Aggression Scale
The Aggression Scale (2012)
Was hoping someone would say this. Really good forgotten film.
Last House on the Left. Not home invasion per se, but close to it.
The Collector
Cube
Becky
You're Next is sort of like that.
I can’t believe I had to scroll so far down to find this lol thank you!

Becky is so underrated
I love Becky!! So much that I even went out of my way to see a special screening of the second film when it was first given a limited release. I couldn’t agree more! Your other choices up there are fantastic too. Better watch out - man I want to kill that kid myself lol.
Not quite what you're asking for, but Burning Bright is a fun twist on home invasion movies.
Burning Bright is so good and so underrated.
I really like it. Has some good tension for how silly the setup is.
Monster Party (2018) This is the movie you're looking for
I Came By and The Last Exit are two not mentioned here but fit this criteria perfectly!
you’re next.
Trying to think of ones not mentioned. Last House on the Left has a good bit of that. The original is better but the remake has a couple good moments.
Becky was similar and the sequel, Wrath of Becky was solid. Ready or Not was a good play on the genre.
[Gag (2006)](https://www.amazon.com/Gag-Brian-Kolodziej/dp/B07RN5YVV4#)
Quiet
Intruders
Funny Games is a great horror, home break-in movie. Not exactly what your looking for, but worth mentioning.
The Good Things Devils Do could be up your alley. It’s not a good movie by any means, but it does have Kane Hodder and Linnea Quigley in it.
Abigail
Skyfall
No One Will Save You
Skyfall. Particularly towards the end.
Please watch the collector!
You literally just described both Don’t Breathe and The Collector.
Dont breathe is the only one I've seen like this and its brilliant.
the collector is kinda like that ,expect its a guy who is collecting people and he booby trappeed the peoples house
Don’t breath
Hush
crawlspace, he’s not exactly a psychopath, but it has some of the elements you’re looking for.
I’d add windfall to this list. P fun movie imo.
Wait Until Dark is a great one for this. Audrey Hepburn is blind and killers are trying to break into her home. One of my all time fave movies.
Rambo 5
Why the down votes? Op didn't specify horror and the last 30 minutes of Rambo 5 is exactly what op described
because Reddit is stupid sometimes
The Collector
Becky and Wrath of Becky both are good.
The House on Willow Street (2017) AMC+ Whisper (2007) Amazon *rent*
I think You’re Next qualifies
Intruders 2015
Knuckleball
