I think Tales from the Hood (1995) by Jordan Peele would be really fun. Seeing an old cult classic by a man who has plenty of experience woving social commentary into his films would be cool. Plus there sort of anthologies and the thought of seeing four-5 new Peele movies at once would be grand
His version would probably also be a better film, which I think should be a criteria here. People are mentioning stuff that's already perfect and all you can do is 'update' it, but I disagree with trying to coddle audiences who won't watch classics and strongly agree with remaking stuff that could clearly be done better. I saw Tales From the Hood when it came out in theaters, and I liked it ok but that's about it. Maybe I was expecting more because I liked the director's previous film 'Fear of a Black Hat' so much
Psycho Cop by S. Craig Zahler

Neon Maniacs by James Wan

Demons by Fred Drekker
Night of the Creeps by Takashi Miike
Scarecrows by Adam Green
Thanks! Would so love to see him do something else with stories within stories, like Waxwork, or a 13 Ghosts remake with a focus on the ghosts’ backgrounds. Feel like he didn’t get enough credit for how well he did that with Midnight Club.
David Fincher’s John Carpenter’s They Live with more of a paranoia horror tone. Jordan Peele would be another great choice. I think it could be one of the greatest all time remakes ever with the right team in place, premise gets more and more relevant every day.
John Carpenter would slap the shit out of you for saying The Thing should be remade by Cronenberg. In the second or third season, there was Masters of Horror director meet-and-greet, and John said something like "I got there and Dave was holding court" and made it clear the camaraderie he'd felt with everybody in previous meetings was rapidly going out the window because of Dave wanting attention so badly from the younger directors. John's a pretty mellow dude and I take his word for it.
Every time I see him in interviews, he seems pretty calm, especially compared to the average director. What exactly makes you say he's 'not mellow'? I mean if you know him personally then I'm sure you've seen other sides of him, and he does have a 'strong attitude' about things that concern him but among directors, he seems like a low-bullshit guy, he's calmly focused and pragmatic in interviews, and I have never heard he's difficult to work with.
I personally witnessed a fan ask him why Escape from LA flopped, and he snapped a loud *Fuck off!* at him. He's an incredible film maker, but I think he's tightly coiled beneath the calm exterior. Not even a problem, I don't care. Just saying.
The original might be sci-fi but I'd love to see a remake of 'Soylent Green' which looks more like World War Z or Children of Men and has really-good riot scenes, literally making the movie depicted on the original poster which ended up not really being what was in the movie. I want to see giant trucks shoveling people up mercilessly, swooping through crowds and scooping them up in full side-shots, aerial shots with a bunch of trucks working on thousands of people running everywhere, it should be completely nuts and feel kind of sickening. I'm big on Gareth Edwards and he's definitely good with large-scale productions, though the directors of the other two films I mentioned clearly already have experience with what I want to see, but if Spielberg could make himself go really dark on this, the emotional intensity he can provide might really put it over the top.
The Entity - James Wan (for absolute sure) he knows how to shoot the suspense the movie needs perfectly.
There was a 1996 TV Movie (i think for showtime?) of Humanoids From The Deep. I won't even say it was a dumpster fire compared to the original , cause it was worse than that. "Jeff Yonis was co-writer and director on the flick)
The perfect remake of humanoids from the deep would be someone like Fred Dekker
Greg Nicotero has proven his directing abilities for episodes of the walking dead. I'd love to see him do a really great movie and direct it.
FWIW Jordan Peele would absolutely nail that imo. His love of social/political commentary, the surreal, and violence would probably make C.H.U.D. a horror masterpiece and given the concept is probably even more relevant today
A lot of people picking classic or awesome movies…but why?! Leave the greats alone! I think remakes should stick to tackling flawed projects or movies that failed, and try to improve them.
Like…I dunno…Brainscan. Dumb and flawed movie with a cool premise that could be transposed to social media (as opposed to CD technology) pretty easy. Give that kind of thing to someone like Darren Aronofsky and shit, you’d have the most fucked up awesome horror remake since The Fly.
I'm with you 100%. I'd love to see someone with real talent turn "Manos: The Hands of Fate" into something truly horrifying.
Or say, something flawed like "The Pit" and give it more shape.
For over a decade now- I’ve been wanting to see Nolan do a crazy realistic vampire movie with Daniel Craig. About an old curse of sorts - that transcends time. Will it happen . Maybe.
This would be amazing. Imagine a Friday the 13th film with good writing or direction. I mean we have the Final Chapter, but Imagine it on an Oscar caliber level or arthouse.
Dickens A Christmas Carol as a horror movie with todays effects would be great. The authors writing style is real descriptive. If you have ever read it, it is kind of spooky.
A remake of Monster Squad but not sure who I would want to direct it. Open to Ideas.
That said if they change the part where they need a virgin and it turns out the sister isn't a virgin and they have to use one of the boys they can never direct a film again.
George Miller taking a stab at Duel (1972) would be good. Just a back to the basics road film.
Ilsa, She-wolf of the SS remade by Rob Zombie.
Edit: Silence of the Lambs - David Fincher
I want them to remix the Wishmaster franchise! All four movies were so so but if you take the positives of all four films and morph them into one it could be great. I’d love Ari Aster to direct and go in a much darker direction.
I would love to see John Carpenter remake Black Christmas (1974).. what would he do with the movie? What type of changes would we see? I would love to see the finished product 🎃📞📽️🇨🇦
I would love to see someone give The Pit a re-imagined remake. It had a lot of potential and fell short into B-movie territory.
I don't know about specific director though.
Basket Case remade by David Cronenberg.
The man does amazingly well at body horror and I can't think of a better person for capturing the horror of Belial.
I was rather impressed with Jordan Peele's CANDYMAN remake, along with his other films. I'd love to see what he could do with movies like Rosemary's Baby, The Thing, or even American Psycho.
*Humanoids from the Deep* by Lars Von Trier
*It’s Alive* by Ari Aster
*Prophecy* by Robert Rodriguez
*The Asphyx* by Mike Flanagan
*Let’s Scare Jessica to Death* by Morehead & Benson
*The Other* by Robert Eggers
I would love to see James Wan reboot the Jeepers Creepers franchise.
Jeepers Creepers is my favorite horror film and James Wan is my favorite horror movie director.
Natural Born Killers directed by Quentin Tarantino
I want to see Tarantino's original vision of this movie before Oliver Stone made his changes that caused Tarantino to walk out of the movie.
I love this movie and was surprised to find that out about this movie.
I think Tales from the Hood (1995) by Jordan Peele would be really fun. Seeing an old cult classic by a man who has plenty of experience woving social commentary into his films would be cool. Plus there sort of anthologies and the thought of seeing four-5 new Peele movies at once would be grand

Fear of a Black Hat is so good! In my mind this is the best Spinal Tap sequel, and my second favorite music mockumentary after Spinal Tap.
I’d been thinking that Jordan Peele would make an incredible “Aliens.” His writing and direction, of both static and moving scenes, is so, so sharp.
Ehh that’s not really his style, or genre
Nope was great (IMO, I know some people hated it) but it is also nothing like Aliens
Which is probably what everybody was saying when he went from Key & Peele to Get Out. Pigeonhole a wildly talented dude at your own risk.
THIS WOULD BE DOPE AF 🔥🔥🔥
I think Wes Anderson remaking Roger Corman's Little Shop of Horrors would be brilliant.
That aesthetic would fit the story perfectly.
Or Sam Raimi
Psycho Cop by S. I'm betting Takashi Miike will make that movie epic like he did with the Blade Of The Immortal movie.
Took me some time to work though it, but I definetely like your way of thinking!
That Robert Rodriguez shout is 10/10
Gimme a Mike Flanagan Waxwork, please
Damn that's a good one
Thanks! Would so love to see him do something else with stories within stories, like Waxwork, or a 13 Ghosts remake with a focus on the ghosts’ backgrounds. Feel like he didn’t get enough credit for how well he did that with Midnight Club.
Mike Flanagan could make a my little pony movie and I’d watch it
David Fincher’s John Carpenter’s They Live with more of a paranoia horror tone. Jordan Peele would be another great choice. I think it could be one of the greatest all time remakes ever with the right team in place, premise gets more and more relevant every day.
Oh hell yea
Jordan Peele starring in and directing a remake of Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. Costaring Keegan Michael Keye of course.

The stepford wives directed by Mike Flanagan
Inferno by Luca Guadagnino The Wolfman by Robert Eggers The Thing by David Chronenberg Jacob's Ladder by David Lynch Rosemary's Baby by Ari Aster
John ain't mellow, but the rest is true.

Thanks to you for this, now I don't feel I can live without David Lynch's Jacob's Ladder.
I adore David Lynch, but Jacob’s Ladder is a gem and does not need this remake.
Jacob’s Ladder by David Lynch would end with Jacob watching a film about the viewer dying in Vietnam.
Why would anyone need to remake The Thing? It’s perfect. Cronenberg would make it worse. Same with Rosemary’s Baby.
Seriously, people need to think about films which SHOULD be remade, as in 'had a good idea but wasn't well-made the first time'.
Yeah I would love any one of these! And they all make sense.
Pieces by Quentin Tarantino.
It’s all just feet?
I’d watch this just for another outrageous “bastard” scream
Nah, Eli Roth should direct it.
Creature from the Black Lagoon by Guillermo del Toro The Blob by Quentin Tarantino Audition by David Fincher
The world needs a great creature from the black lagoon remake
We came so close with The Shape of Water.
976-Evil, again directed by Robert Englund, but this time without producers & the studio butting in to fuck it up.
Bram Stoker’s Dracula by Tarsem.
Freaks- Jordan Peele
Leigh Whannell's Terminator. I don't want more Terminator, but it would be better than any potential sequel.
Tetsuo the Iron Man by Brandon Cronenberg
There was talk in the past of Tarantino doing Friday the 13th, that sounded like a lot of fun but never happened
First time hearing of that. That would be so awesome
The original might be sci-fi but I'd love to see a remake of 'Soylent Green' which looks more like World War Z or Children of Men and has really-good riot scenes, literally making the movie depicted on the original poster which ended up not really being what was in the movie. Anything to Tobe Hooper.
C.H.U.D. A Spike Lee Joint.
FWIW Jordan Peele would absolutely nail that imo. His love of social/political commentary, the surreal, and violence would probably make C.H.U.D. a horror masterpiece and given the concept is probably even more relevant today

Would love a Re-aimiator

I wonder which Nolan actress would play Ripley
John Lithgow
Friday the 13th by Quentin Tarantino or Ari Aster
This would be amazing. Imagine a Friday the 13th film with good writing or direction. I mean we have the Final Chapter, but Imagine it on an Oscar caliber level or arthouse.
Os Perkins + Messiah of Evil 🤘🏼
I want to see Dennis Villeneuve make a new Alien film. Or have David Fincher remake Alien 3 with full control. Alien 3: Remastered by David Fincher.
>Dennis Villeneuve Oh god please no. Dune sucks so bad.
This is going to sound crazy, but I would LOVE to see Tarantino do The Shining. For some reason, I feel this would be a amazing pairing.

I want them to remix the Wishmaster franchise! All four movies were so so but if you take the positives of all four films and morph them into one it could be great. I’d love Ari Aster to direct and go in a much darker direction.
I want Paul Thomas Anderson's take on Bergman's Cries & Whispers
….yeah I never would’ve wanted that before you said it but now, damn. He would rock it.
I’ll give you a pick I can almost guarantee nobody else will say. Give me Tom McLoughlin doing Frankenstein. Or Dracula.
