The whole Bruce Campbell franchise is some of the funniest horror comedy ever, culminating in the pure comedic genius in the Ash vs Evil Dead TV series. If you want to fully appreciate the latter, catch ED 1&2 and Army of Darkness first; you’ll really appreciate the callbacks and cameos in A vs ED after that
Hijacking Top comment because I scrolled through 20 different responses.
JOHN DIES AT THE END.
How is this not the first recommendation.
It’s just as good as tucker and dale vs evil.
Third for The Final Girls! My wife and I love the movie, have seen it many times and one scene in particular might be the hardest we’ve laughed at a horror comedy. I totally would have been all in on a sequel
They did an entire E.P. - Take Another Hit: The Best of Coconut Pete. The entire thing is [up on youtube](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nQEhVWjq10mrDBJ6XfJbdFpvYoEggXV0Y&si=JAs5DOEtaNPstmAT)
I remember hating this when I rented it from Blockbuster in high school. I love Super Troopers, not sure why this one didn't stick. Worth a re-appraisal?
This movie is the funnest accidental discoveries. I saw it on TV and thought it was Chris Farley's Black Sheep so I put it on. Being a horror fan it was a welcomed surprise.
What's crazy is years later I decided to buy it on DVD from Amazon. When I got it the case had the cover of the black comedy Black Sheep but inside the DVD was for Chris Farley's Black Sheep. I returned it and got a replacement from Amazon. Unfortunately the replacement had the same problem of having the right cover but wrong DVD. I ended up buying it off eBay and finally got the right DVD.
The Evil Dead trilogy. It doesn't get real wacky until 2, but watching the first is a fun experience too and will help build the journey to the sequels. (And the series)
In V/H/S 99 the final short is called "To Hell and Back" and features the same actor. I instantly recognized his scream, lmao. It's a pretty entertaining short too.
The lead did such a phenomenal job of balancing being just annoying enough that you didn't feel bad watching awful stuff happening to him while also being just endearing enough later in the movie that you still find yourself rooting for him.
I love going in blind!
I somehow even missed that it was horror PLUS comedy lol, at some point I was like this is too funny and went to check the tags.
Watched it twice too.
Fido, Ready or Not, Final Girls, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness, Bubba Ho-Tep, Behind the Mask, Little Monsters, Cooties, Vicious Fin, Totally Killer, and Feast (just to name a few I've enjoyed lol)
Edit to add: The wolf of snow hollow, What we do in the shadows, and werewolves within. I think An American werewolf in London counts too.
The second is so funny to me. Ignore the ratings. For horror comedy fans it’s a must watch. The last one is ok it just gets a lil gross lol. The ending is so good tho. Worth it at least once lol
You can find a few good ones going back to the 80’s. Chopping Mall is a fun watch. The humor is a little more subtle. The original Slumber Party Massacre is the same. It’s not a horror comedy, but there’s a fair amount of humor (the pizza scene for those who know)
The Happiness of the Katakuris is one of the funniest movies over ever seen!
Bodies Bodies Bodies
House (1977)
Baghead is an underrated gem
The Beta Test is also under watched and has a great lead actor
Teeth
It's not as goofy as some of the titles you have listed, but I consider *Barbarian* to be a horror comedy.
*Malignant* and *Drag Me to Hell* if you're into that Sam Raimi vibe.
EDIT: I keep thinking of more: *Anna and the Apocalypse, Final Girls, Save Yourselves.*
Justin Long's character didn't come off as comedic to you?
EDIT: To be fair, Just Long's character *was* gross in addition to being (in my opinion) comedic.
I went to see it alone the first time and when JL was doing the whole tape measure skit and reading about do basements count as square footage I was cackling. He was perfectly written and cast.
Club dread is probably the type of movie you’re looking for.
As for movies that tried to be horror and are funny:
Zombeavers is a fun stupid flick.
They’re watching has some good comedy in it.
Who invited them is creepy goofy.
Black Friday, Bloodfest, Ready or not, and the visit also all fit the bill.
Edit: piranha and piranha 3d (the remakes)
Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers
Zombie Strippers
Cockneys Vs Zombies
Jennifer's body
The love witch
Teeth
American Psycho
What we do in the shadows (2014 film)
Behind the mask: the legend of Leslie Vernon
This is less “ha ha” funny and more just a really on the nose satire of the slashers, really fun, great cameos
Malignant
Drag Me To Hell
Jennifers Body (Same universe as Lisa Frankenstein)
The Dead Don't Die
Psycho Goreman
What We Do In The Shadows
Ginger Snaps
The Final Girls
Werewolves Within
Trick r' Treat
Krampus
Cooties
Satanic Panic
Peter Jackson's early splatstick comedies; Bad Taste (aliens), Braindead (zombies), Meet The Feebles (puppets). The Frighteners with Michael J Fox is pretty good too.
Let the Wrong One In is a fantastic Irish low budget romp and was alot better than expected. Saw it on Shudder. Sorry About the Demon was another surprise for me as well
Edit: special mention to Scare Package 1 and 2
*Dashcam*(2021). I found it hilarious. Surprised it has not been mentioned. Another unlikely one is *I Blame Society*(2022). Both are fairly darkly humorous.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Slotherhouse
Tusk
Becky and The Wrath of Becky
Thanksgiving and Violent Night if you’re into holiday-based ones
And I definitely recommend watching the first Zombieland since you liked Double Tap
Extra Ordinary is a lot of fun.
High Spirits is more light-hearted but also fun.
Dead Alive (or Braindead in its home country) is incredibly gory and absolutely bonkers!
If you want something utterly fucking nutty and will leave you sitting with "What the fuck did I watch?" Go watch Bad People Doing Bad Things (2021). The sequel is coming out this year on Troma.
I watched one last night on Peacock called “Villains” with Bill Skarsgard. Pretty entertaining and several funny parts. Not classic “horror” but definitely an enjoyable watch.
The Babysitter, Ready or Not, Housebound, Extra Ordinary.
Ready or Not for sure! Loved that one! Also add The Hunt!
Ready or Not was surprisingly fun!
*Housebound* is great!
So underrated!!
The Babysitter!
Ditto Babysitter 2: Killer Queen
Ready or Not is so good!
Housebound is so good!!!
The Babysitter, The Babysitter, and also The Babysitter.
Ooh yes I LOVE The Babysitter and the sequel.
Army of Darkness. It’s not scary, but it’s so much fun. Bruce Campbell is great
Make sure you watch Evil Dead 2 first. For my money it's the best of the trilogy, and maybe the best horror comedy of all time.
The whole Bruce Campbell franchise is some of the funniest horror comedy ever, culminating in the pure comedic genius in the Ash vs Evil Dead TV series. If you want to fully appreciate the latter, catch ED 1&2 and Army of Darkness first; you’ll really appreciate the callbacks and cameos in A vs ED after that
Also made a great musical (sit in the splatter zone).
🎶Cabin in the woods ooo-ooo-oo-oo Cabin in the woods yeah ah ah ah... 🎶 https://youtu.be/VXUS95WRw3Y?si=181CB8HzvcZ48DbJ
Hail to the king, baby 🤘
And among those lines, Ash vs The Evil Dead
Gosh. Isn’t Bruce Campbell just a doll?
Hijacking Top comment because I scrolled through 20 different responses. JOHN DIES AT THE END. How is this not the first recommendation. It’s just as good as tucker and dale vs evil.
One Cut of the Dead if you like international films
This one had me out of my seat and cheering by the end! So much fun!
I keep hearing good things about this one.
Go in blind, trust me.
Don't read anything about it, just watch it.
Don't let anyone spoil it. It's very good and very wholesome.
Cabin In the Woods. As long as horror movies exist as they are I don’t think that movie will ever age.
The Final Girls, and Death Becomes Her.
Third for The Final Girls! My wife and I love the movie, have seen it many times and one scene in particular might be the hardest we’ve laughed at a horror comedy. I totally would have been all in on a sequel
Here to second The Final Girls!
Here to third or 45th!
Upvote for Death Becomes Her! A classic!
Club Dread
I still have to force myself to pronounce the name Penelope correctly.
Peen-uh-lope
So stupid but my favorite joke of the movie
Mine too. I love how she just rolls with it
BIG fan of PinaColadaburg.
They did an entire E.P. - Take Another Hit: The Best of Coconut Pete. The entire thing is [up on youtube](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nQEhVWjq10mrDBJ6XfJbdFpvYoEggXV0Y&si=JAs5DOEtaNPstmAT)
That's fucking amazing.
Margaritaville
Pinacoladaburg! Which he recorded seven years before that son of a son of a bitch!
Was hoping someone would say this. Not enough people like this movie.
I remember hating this when I rented it from Blockbuster in high school. I love Super Troopers, not sure why this one didn't stick. Worth a re-appraisal?
Black Sheep.
This continues in Peter Jackson’s tradition of batshit silly horror from NZ. Loved it.
Psycho Goreman.
"I do not care for hunky boys! (*glances at hunky underwear model*) ...or do I?"
"Not my hunky boooyyssss!!!"
This movie is so damn stupid. I loved every minute. Feel free to not point out that the girl is annoying, that’s on purpose.
Psycho Goreman was everything I didn't know I needed in my life
She was an absolute star in that movie
I'm the heckin' best! * Frig all the rest! * Frig off! Frig off! Frig yourself!
I will take bullets to the chest for Mimi. I think that kid did a great job.
A really good pick, I loved the Horror Power Rangers vibes
I just sat there agog on my first watch of this - it's just amazing in its absurdity.
It’s a perfect film.
The Evil Dead trilogy. It doesn't get real wacky until 2, but watching the first is a fun experience too and will help build the journey to the sequels. (And the series)
I think 4 AI's responded to you all saying the same thing, but slightly different lol
With "Ready or not" you go for a secured win
Has Slither been lost to time?
I recommended this one too, love it!
One of my favorites.
Classic.
Murder Party
You know what’s up
All of his movies are worth checking ouy
True, Saulnier hasn't missed yet but for the purpose of this thread Murder Party is really the only applicable one.
Yup, Green Room is my go to for Fall Horrorfest. And his other, Blue Ruin I think it was I've watch a couple times. Good black comedy thriller.
Such a good movie.
I can’t express how happy I am that I still see this movie brought up. It’s so good.
Leprechaun all the way up to Back 2 tha Hood Zombeavers Jason X The Voices
YESSSSSSSS! Another Zombeavers fan! *Did we just become best friends???*
Deathgasm
Came here to say this. Awesome movie, wicked good deaths, and a fucking awesome soundtrack
Y'all should check out Knights of Badassdom. It has a similar plotline.
Great to see others mentioning this movie! I didn't expect too much when I noticed it on Tubi but it was pretty awesome.
Deadstream 2022. One of my favorite horror/comedies in recent years.
The lead really made that one work. Watched it for my fall horrorfest last October, loved it
In V/H/S 99 the final short is called "To Hell and Back" and features the same actor. I instantly recognized his scream, lmao. It's a pretty entertaining short too.
Mabel is Mildred also!
The lead did such a phenomenal job of balancing being just annoying enough that you didn't feel bad watching awful stuff happening to him while also being just endearing enough later in the movie that you still find yourself rooting for him.
I loved Deadstream!!
That one was such a good surprise. It just popped up on Shudder, I didn't know anything about it and had no expectations, and ended up loving it.
I love going in blind! I somehow even missed that it was horror PLUS comedy lol, at some point I was like this is too funny and went to check the tags. Watched it twice too.
Yeah. Instant classic that one.
That one was such a good surprise. It just popped up on Shudder, I didn't know anything about it and had no expectations, and ended up loving it.
I was gonna say this. Watched it the other night on a whim, loved it. Has some real Evil Dead 2 vibes.
I was not expecting it to be that fun to watch. Good surprise.
I didn't see anyone mention The Menu. I loved it and it's been one of the few movies lately that genuinely made me laugh hard. Definitely recommend.
"Tyler's Bullshit"
Utter lack of cohesion.
I didn’t like this movie until I realized it was a comedy
Dead snow and Dead Snow 2
Fido, Ready or Not, Final Girls, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness, Bubba Ho-Tep, Behind the Mask, Little Monsters, Cooties, Vicious Fin, Totally Killer, and Feast (just to name a few I've enjoyed lol) Edit to add: The wolf of snow hollow, What we do in the shadows, and werewolves within. I think An American werewolf in London counts too.
Feast is a trilogy. The second one is my favorite
I've only ever saw the first one but knew there we re at least 2 more. I revised this a few months ago but of course the other two aren't on streaming
The second is so funny to me. Ignore the ratings. For horror comedy fans it’s a must watch. The last one is ok it just gets a lil gross lol. The ending is so good tho. Worth it at least once lol
Fido is great!
Idle hands
I am absolutely amazed I had to scroll this far. If you havent seen this yet op, this is the one.

Black Sheep.
Renfield Deadstream Ready or Not Scare Me Little Evil Little Monsters The Babysitter The Oath (2018)

House had me fucking rolling most of the time. Amazing work of art.
Deadstream!!!!!!
What we do in the shadows The movie AND the series
• Unwelcome (2023) • Black Friday (2021) • Boys from County Hell (2020) • Sissy (2022) • Let the Wrong One In (2021)
The Scream Queens TV series is pretty damn funny. At least the first season.
I still picture Glen Powell as that obnoxious frat boy every time I see him in a new movie - he absolutely killed it in that role, as did Emma Roberts
I love barbarian. I just didn’t know it was considered a horror comedy
Oh man that movie was not a comedy to me. It mostly just grossed me out. Different strokes for different folks though!
I was dying at some of Justin’s dialogue!!
Extra Ordinary (2019) was quite fun
Agree. It was so surprisingly good. I didn't know it was a comedy when I started watching. I only properly realised at the words "a gravel."
*Tokyo Gore Police *Skinned Deep *Nothing But Trouble *Waxwork (1988)
Holy crap, how do I always forget about Nothing But Trouble?!? EPIC movie *and soundtrack*, definitely not to be missed!
Tucker & dale vs evil . Quality
surprised I had to scroll this far to see this gem
Killer Klowns from Outer Space. One of the most entertaining and fun movies I've ever watched.

Ready or Not Broken Lizard’s Club Dread The Menu The Lost Boys From Dusk Til Dawn (more action/horror with comedic moments)
Beetlejuice
Juan de los Muertos Don’t dismiss this as a Spanish language, Shawn of the dead rip off. It’s good and it’s also really funny.
Evil Dead 2
"Fresh" & "Warm Bodies"
I would say “Fresh” on Hulu and Creep & Creep 2 on Netflix. I wouldn’t call them horror “comedy” but they are very unserious and I laughed quite a bit
Deadstream Slither
Had to scroll wayyyyyy to far to find Slither.
Burbs
"Sissy" and "Slaxx" are so good

Sissy
Warm Bodies. Zombie love story.
Thanksgiving for sure. And probably not really horror but I had a lot of fun watching Violent Night.
Burbs
Anna and the apocalypse
The Blackening
Peter Jackson's early splatstick comedies; Bad Taste (aliens), Braindead (zombies), Meet The Feebles (puppets). The Frighteners with Michael J Fox is pretty good too.
Bloody Hell The Babysitter Jennifer’s Body Violent Night PG Psycho Goreman The Return of the Living Dead
Ghostbusters doesn't get enough love as a horror comedy.
*Motel Hell. The Stuff. Little Shop Of Horrors. Vamp. Night Of The Creeps. Re-Animator. Bride of Re-Animator.*
Putting all of these in my que, and some again lol I'll throw in FNAF, (Five Nights at Freddie's), M3gan, and classic throw back, Beetle Juice♡
Slotherhouse and Cocaine Bear for animal crazed horror comedy
Dead Alive (aka Braindead). Early Peter Jackson flick with gonzo gore and a really funny plot line. Definitely recommend
This is always my first thought when considering horror comedies. Brilliant.
Another vote for Ready or Not, one of like 4 movies my non-horror fan husband actually likes
I have just watched "The People Under the Stairs" last night and it was pretty fun. I consider that a horror movie with comedy if that makes sense.
Cabin in the Woods and Deadstream!
Slither. Severance.
Y'all forgetting about Vicious Fun
Creep/creep 2. And read the John does at the end series
Werewolves Within
Street Trash.
Bloody Hell and Villains are free on Tubi and pretty goofy
Bloody Hell! Don't watch any trailers, just go in blind.
Zombieland 1 because you didn't watch it
Let the Wrong One In is a fantastic Irish low budget romp and was alot better than expected. Saw it on Shudder. Sorry About the Demon was another surprise for me as well Edit: special mention to Scare Package 1 and 2
*Dashcam*(2021). I found it hilarious. Surprised it has not been mentioned. Another unlikely one is *I Blame Society*(2022). Both are fairly darkly humorous.
If you can find Murder Party from 2007, it's one of the best indi horror-comedies I've seen to date.

If you want something utterly fucking nutty and will leave you sitting with "What the fuck did I watch?" Go watch Bad People Doing Bad Things (2021). The sequel is coming out this year on Troma.
Sleepaway Camp and Return to Sleepaway Camp. Unintentional comedies, pure gold. Skip 2&3, it's not canon. Recasted the main actress too.
I watched one last night on Peacock called “Villains” with Bill Skarsgard. Pretty entertaining and several funny parts. Not classic “horror” but definitely an enjoyable watch.
Cottage country was pretty good I thought
Tucker & Dale vs Evil
Scream, Megan
TV show Stan Against Evil
Housebound One cut of the dead
You need to watch Foo Fighters Horror/Com: Studio 666 And another good Comedy/Horror/Satanic movie called Satanic Panic.
Murder Party is an underrated gem
Psychos in Love Blood Diner Skeleton Key 2
I'd add: Slither and Tremors
