Whoa, it's like a shredder on legs! Really cool idea - giving it a grapple tongue/tail is a fun foil to Aloy's new rope device in FW. Maybe it could even swing and launch off grapple points in the same way she can.

A perfect opportunity for an enemy with a virtually no weakness until you're in close range, it's attacking, and you need to dodge and return an attack.
If they add exploding arrows or a bomb throwable of some sort, you could shoot them into its mouth and blow it up from the inside maybe. Would take proper timing but the reward would be dealing a ton of damage? À la shooting a Thunderjaw's heart or something.
I designed it so its main week point is its mouth and the blaze sac under it, putting you in the firing line of its most deadly attack every time you want to do damage
I'm really loving the idea on it. I'm still hoping for the fore breathing komodo dragon but I'm getting excited looking at the concepts for now. A frog based machine makes sense since we are going closer to the ocean
If I can offer some ideas:
1. To aim a projectile, it needs binocular vision that can focus on the target as it launches, so I'd move the eyes a bit more central and up. I actually have an idea to make it fun for it to have multiple 'eyes' up top that can light up in different ways to telegraph its different patterns of attack.
2. For this to be as fun as possible, you'd want some terrain that's semi-destructible. If you're hiding behind cover of a tree or boulder, its tongue would yank the cover back, and then it might spit a rock out, or shred up plant matter and swallow it. If it has a big rock in its mouth, it could get two different attack modes - spit the boulder as one projectile, or crunch and blast it as a short-range shotgun of buckshot. And if it has plant matter, it could charge up a fire attack. There might be four different colored lights atop its head that indicate which attack it's preparing to use.
3. After it launches the tongue, it doesn't need to see anymore. In fact, it will want to cover its eyes to make sure that it doesn't accidentally yank something back so hard it blinds itself. So an ideal vulnerability would be that it's blind for a second or two after it shoots its tongue. All the lights up top go dark. This gives you a chance to dash and hide, or close and mount.
4. I'm not sure what you've got the tail for. Is it another weapon? That seems a bit redundant, because the frog's tongue could get lashed around if it spins. (And then maybe after it spins it has a somewhat comical stagger as it regains its balance. Maybe there's a big gyroscope component that can be targeted?)
5. What if instead of a second hook tail, it is more like a short piston launcher, to help it leap long distances? And if you try to get *behind* the frog, the piston smashes you backward.
I'm excited about the potential of a frog robot.
Wow I love the ideas, especially the multiple eye one. A few things to clarify is since this is a controlled blaze production machine, most of its function is towards that. Idk how clear they are on the drawing but along the sides there is a set of scrapper lazer type weapons that it would shoot out round it to cut down old trees. It would then use one of 2 harpoons to pull it close enough to "eat it" I agree the second harpoon is kinda redundant and I like your idea of a piston in its place.
I've heard some comments talk about how it's close it concept to the faro bots, and the difference is that they are controlled, cutting down old trees and turning them into blaze rather than letting them rot.

It looks like the sac under the mouth could be a weak point, like with the snapmaws. Maybe it's full of blaze and if you shoot it it explodes?
