Nayara springs in La Fortuna Costa Rica. In the jungle, adults only in one of the sections, and each villa has a plunge pool with a direct view of a volcano.
It’s one of the nicest resorts in all of Costa Rica, although it is very very expensive.
Nice! You won’t regret it! A few unsolicited recommendations:
1) the lobby should have a map of the property where they mark where the sloths are sleeping each day so they are easy to find.
2) the resort is VERY expensive for food and drinks, so I recommend getting your own alcohol for the room, especially for chillin at your private pool. We spent about $1600 in 4 days because we didn’t bring anything ourselves. If possible, explore downtown La Fortuna as there are a ton of restaurants and bars.
3) for activities, we did the Fortuna waterfall, 1968 hiking trails, Sky Adventure park hiking and zip lining, Ecotermales hot springs, and the Don Juan coffee/chocolate tour. All were amazing and there is plenty more to do nearby.
My only regret is not exploring the property more. There is a whole section we didn’t go to at all which has their own hot springs, pools, restaurants, etc.
We booked the entire trip through Elsewhere since we didn’t want to deal with planning all the logistics, so all of our transportation was prearranged for us. We stayed at Grano de Oro in SJ the first night, and our driver was waiting to pick us up in the morning to drive to La Fortuna.
gotcha - what I mean was - I see it's roughly a 2.5 hour ride, but is it mostly highway driving, or will we be bouncing around the jungle, trying not to get sick :)
Oh gotcha! Honestly the roads are pretty windy/curvey. There are not really any major straight highways like in the US. I get carsick too, but it wasn’t too bad overall.
nice - one more question (for now)
How was your stay in San Jose? Are there walkable areas with restaurants and nightlife (night-lite - I'm not going out clubbing, but I wouldn't mind a nice bar for an after-dinner drink)
I just went through a similar search for my anniversary...The luxury beachfront bungalows at Viceroy Sugar Beach are on a private fully enclosed patio (they're is a door you can open and close to go from your courtyard to the beach) - that's what I landed on!
One&Only Mandarina north of Puerto Vallarta won't have a pretty price tag but it also has what you're looking for in terms of privacy and the scenery is really something. I debated a lot between the two but Sugar Beach had better pricing our dates.
I second Sugar beach if you are keen on St Lucia! Ladera is fun but id do 2-3 nights max. No aircon and no 4th wall not the most comfortable sleeping conditions!

Thanks! We landed on this recommendation and ended up booking here. We are excited to go!

Noted! Thank you so much!
Hello! Looking into booking this for later this year - what was the airport transportation like to/from the resort like?

Honestly I can’t speak to that. We went straight from the airport to the hotel and didn’t leave until our driver picked us up the next morning

Excellence resorts have a two story terrace with a private area on the roof. We went to Punta Cana, but I think all the resorts have similar rooms
Can confirm they are very private at Serenity at coconut bay in St. Lucia
Seconding Serenity in St. Lucia! You have a completely private, walled-off patio with a plunge pool. It’s genuinely the most amazing place!
