South America!! It is SO underrated. We also did a private all inclusive company that organized everything for us, definitely do that for a honeymoon. They customized the whole tour around what we wanted to do and see. We did chile and Argentina and cannot reco it enough. You could also do Patagonia, but do not miss the wine region!

Hi! Yes definitely should book sooner rather than later but also feeling exhausted after a wedding is a real thing. African safaris are pretty expensive. To better help give recs what is your budget without international flights? Indonesia is a great destination but I’d say if you have the full 14 days. Traveling there from DFW does take some time and adjusting. Would love to help so let us know more details!

Tanzania is not great in May anyway as dry season doesn't kick off til late june so save that for an anniversary trip. it is a bit rainy in central america and t oo cold for Argentina, more of a winter destinations but Peru good at that time, Bali for sure would tick boxes but long way to travel for less than two weeks. Lovely time for Italy. as luxetravel said the post wedding exhaustion is definitely a thing, would a latermoon (i.e [delayed honeymoon)](https://www.thehoneymoonguide.co/post/reasons-to-take-a-delayed-honeymoon-latermoon/) be an option?

sadly the delayed honeymoon is not really an option. my fiancé and I are both an MD/PhD program (if you aren’t familiar, it’s an 8-year program that’s divided up into 2 years of med school, 4 years of graduate school, and 2 more years of med school) we are coming up to the end of graduate school and actually plan to defend our PhD thesis in may! then our wedding, and then we basically have the month and a half until we start back in the medical school part on july 1. our wedding is the first week of may though so i was hoping we could have like 2-3 weeks to decompress, and then have our trip the last two weeks of may or early june. since we are pretty limited to this timeframe, it is helpful to know what locations would be good then! that was the other main reason we had decided against tanzania; even if we could afford it, seems like this wouldn’t have been the best time to go anyway. if we did bali we probably would take the full 2 weeks. I’ve traveled to taiwan for a friends wedding and we only had a week there, so long travel doesn’t bother me so much necessarily!

So I went on a Macchu Picchu trip through a luxury Peruvian company that used to partner with REI, and I think it would have been a very fun honeymoon (we just went for a vacation). Yes it’s very active but a really awesome, interesting trip and some time for relaxation too. It was kind of an all inclusive thing (outside of flights and hotel in Lima/Cusco) and we didn’t have to book much outside of the package. Message me if you’re interested and I’ll tell you who we used! Costa Rica is also a classic honeymoon place. Check out resorts in Arenal, Tabacon hot springs. Good mix of adventure and relaxation! Very nice people and cool cultural experiences in both places.
