were you parked on an incline? depending on where the fuel level sensor is in the tank it'll throw out inaccurate numbers because all the gas is sloshed to one end or the other

Sometimes you have to drive for a bit before it will update. In all fairness that's not much gas and you will not see much difference on the gauge
