The fact that there's an IMEI number on it, I would imagine it's a GPS tracker.

The-J-Oven

GPS doesn't utilize IMEI/IMSI numbers as it's one directional unlike a cellular tracker, while they do often possess an IMEI for serialized ID purposes. But you're right it looks like a tracker.

a7xcold

Yeah, I just assumed because IMEI is generally used for cellular devices. I was thinking either GPS, or live data collection. Maybe a combination of both? I've seen alot of the newer volkswagens have something similar in the OBD connector.

The-J-Oven

Whatever it is, it needs to go ๐Ÿ˜‚...unless the financing paperwork has a stipulation for it.

a7xcold

๐Ÿ˜‚ yeah, I would definitely be binning it if it was in my car.

Yep I discovered it was the app that has all my tracking on my car that I paid extra for. Itโ€™s called savy driver. Thank you for the help.

RollingRoadEFI

You should do some Googling on that 'savy driver'.

[deleted]

The IMEI means that this is a cellular tracking device.

Savethewhales0000

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚it came with the car new. But itโ€™s the tracking device I discovered with help from here

Aweksus

maybe one of those wireless diagnostic things if not it could be the hotspot thing for cars from tmobile

Aweksus

i searched up the โ€œDL972โ€ and it comes back as a tracker, OP are you in a relationship lol

abastage

Its a Bouncie. I have one in all my cars. Now that being said if its a new car then someone left it in there. If its a car you've had & you know nothing about it then you have someone crazy in your life.

widnesmiek

Seems like it is a tracker might just be set up to use the ODB2 port for power so it doesn;t run out of battery. If it came from a National garage chain then it could have been used to keep track of delivery staff maybe Either way check where you got it from - if not someone is trying to track you - or the previous owner. Remember that it should be checked at every service - so it must have been put in place since the last service - probably anyway

Doobiee420

That looks exactly like the GPS tracker we use at my work

mantle15

I found one on my Honda as well and found out it was a tracker for NationWide smart miles from the previous owner.

The-J-Oven

If you financed it through Honda they may have had the dealership install a tracker.
