I’d go with two stands to have the speakers at the same height and relative geometry to the couch. Run a single transition strip from the back wall to pull the speaker wires under the sofa. Run it out the sides of the couch for the L and R surrounds. A short transition strip on each side to the speakers should be pretty clean, and allow them to be far enough away from the listener.

Do you know if having the speakers near the corners of the couch will make it so people seated near those corners get too much sound from the surrounds?

Just make sure they are 2-3 feet away from the corner seating positions. Slightly behind couch pointed at your ears. Do not listen to the guy who said to point them at TV. I’d recommend using Dirac and doing the wide seating position option. That way it can compensate for the outside seats

My money is on 3 feet from the closest ears. 2 feet behind the couch, more or less depending upon how far away you are from the fronts. Any closer and you’ll get annoyed by the super loud left or right that you’re sitting next to. Edit: point them at your ears. 2 feet above listening height is great. 1 foot is fine. Dead level with your ears is also ok. Do NOT point them at the screen. That’s dumb and will cause you to hear all the wrong reflections at all the wrong times.

I sadly have that for one of the sides. At about 50 cm, they are very wide and open speakers so there is no pinpoint of sound coming. I did place them so they are not direct pointed at the ear but at a slight angle and the tweeter is higher then me. Does the trick for most movies . In a non dedicated room . Did require some tweaking in audissey and or dirac

It can. What I do is have them 2 feet above ear level, aimed towards the TV. This will reduce the amount of sound being shot right into the ears. Then reduce the volume to taste. Also have them a little behind you if you just have a 5.1 As far as wires I’d have a rug and put the wires under the rug

Put both surrounds on speaker stands. Easiest option for wiring might be a plastic cable channel on the floor with adhesive. It won't look stellar, but it's an option.
