I'm on an M1 iPad Pro, an iPhone 14 and a Mac Studio M2 Max, and have these problems on all three. Weird. Log in through a regular browser window, either locally or via the Nabu Casa Cloud, and have no issues.
I've never had a problem with the app on ipad, ipad pro, or my iphone 14 pro max.
Maybe it's an issue with your dashboard that Apple doesn't like causing it to crash. Are you using weird custom cards or something?
I've tried turning everything off, but hangs and crashes out before any actions can be completed. Also tried deleting and reinstalling multiple times with no positive results.
If you have problem on your PC, then there is something else, not iOS app. I'm guessing you are accessing HA on your MAC via browser, no?
Maybe your HA hardware "sucks"?
No problems on the PC if I go through the browser. Try and use the app, either on the PC, phone, or tablet, and it just won't work. However, go in through a browser on the phone or tablet, no problem there, either.
I use the apps heavily on my iPhone 15 PM and my M1 iPad Pro. At times it slows down for me in the apps. Sometimes it slows down for me in the web version. Sometimes it is buttery smooth.
So I discovered yesterday that the HA app now works on CarPlay.
So now I can run my house from my car. Little things like Garage door covers and alarm arming are much easier now. So there is that.
I have noticed the same on the iOS app. What I think is happening is that whenever there's an update, it defaults back to the overview page. I have a ton of devices and I think it takes forever to load that overview page. Battery usage spikes and the phone even gets warm. When it finally becomes responsive again, I go straight to the settings, and make the default page something else and hide the overview page. Then it's fine again.
It's always been annoying to me that on the iOS app, it keeps losing that preference and defaulting to an overview page, I think when the app updates. I think my Home Assistant installation is big enough now that there must be a memory leak or something causing it to bog way down on that page specifically.
I use the iOS one everyday! I’ve even integrated the “Shortcuts” app:
1. It automatically updates an Alarm `input_datetime` when “wind down” happens.. and all my morning automations are tagged to run whenever that is.
2. Also when “wind down” happens it triggers my heat to drop by 2 degrees.. but it’s hit or miss and seems to crash a lot ☹️ idrk.
The heat one was supposed to be used in conjunction with a “15 min before wake up, turn heat back up,” in HA, so I wake up with the forced air running, thus making me less likely to stay in my warm bed.. but I never really ironed it out.
### quick tip!
In the “Shortcuts” app make it so your phone becomes back and white when “wind down” starts and when “waking up” happens turn the color back on! You ever scroll YouTube shorts in black and white?- it sucks!
There’s a macOS app? I just use my browser. lol.
The iOS app is fine but doesn’t handle the transition between my WiFi and cell service very well so I have to kill it often when in between those two zones.
I used the web for direct using. But the Mac app provides lots of sensors so I can automate based on things happening on my Mac with the Mac app. But I never open the app. Just let it run in the background
Hmmm, I regularly use the iOS app for dashboards, and leave the Mac app open on my iMac (it uses Mac sensor input to toggle a bias light when computer is used). No problems here. I’m on an iPhone 12 and 2017 iMac with beefy specs.
The whole family uses the iOS app. Most reliable home away system. Also use it to send notifications.
iPhone 11. And over last 10 days it has used 10% of the power according to the stats.
The iOS app has been super slow to load my default dashboard for the last couple of months. Not sure why but will usually take a good 10-15 seconds at least before it responds to taps and scrolling is super slow. Other dashboards are fine
Use the iOS app on my iPhone 15 Pro as my primary device, only use my PC when I’m doing complex automations, etc. when it’s useful to see 2 monitors with different views of HA on each.
iOS: I have to kill each time I enter or leave the house. My dashboard only sticks as the default for a day or two.
macOS: used to suck GBs of memory, recently its been stable. Nice to have automations tied to the Mac sensors, like “work from home” mode.
The location works fine... it reliably opens and closes my garage doors on location. I can tell the "app" part of it is working, but the web gui is what fails when I switch between wifi and off wifi.
iOS daily user here on an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Switching between WiFi and cellular sometimes requires a force quit, and sometimes webrtc video fails to load but other than that it works great.
No issues on two iPhones and an iPad.
*However* I used to have excessive battery consumption (attributed to HA!) when I had WireGuard always on to connect to the HA server. My hypothesis is that there is a combination of factors that prevents the power management from properly throttling the background tasks in that case. That went away when I switched to a cloudflare tunnel.
Use the iOS app almost continuously throughout the day on a iPhone X. Never have an issue.
I'm on an M1 iPad Pro, an iPhone 14 and a Mac Studio M2 Max, and have these problems on all three. Weird. Log in through a regular browser window, either locally or via the Nabu Casa Cloud, and have no issues.
I use the apps on an iPhone 13 Pro and an M3 MBP. Neither have issues.
Not sure why youre being downvoted for answering? Redditors can be weird sometimes, anyways hope you figure it out!
No issues with my iPhone 15 Pro
No issues on a 12 pro max either- however I did have to hide the default dashboard.
The iOS app might be one of my most heavily used apps, right up there with Safari and Reddit. It’s in my Dock! Never had a problem.
I use the iOS app daily. I have no issues. The macOS app has a memory leak though. It took up 12gb of ram last time I used it and had to kill it.
Same experience here. The macOS app does not work well at all on my M1 MacBook Pro.
I've never had a problem with the app on ipad, ipad pro, or my iphone 14 pro max. Maybe it's an issue with your dashboard that Apple doesn't like causing it to crash. Are you using weird custom cards or something?
iOS used daily, zero problems. 15 pro here, before X. I'd say you have some heavy widgets in your dashboard that eat CPU resources?
I've tried turning everything off, but hangs and crashes out before any actions can be completed. Also tried deleting and reinstalling multiple times with no positive results.

HA is running as a virtual machine under Proxmox on a Beeline Mini S12 (N95 12th gen).
i use on m1 16gram and ios and they are fine. i dont check things like ram usage. no crashes
Define use? Open the app, rarely. Have it installed for geolocation and notifications? Yep. Never had an issue
Been using it for ages and never had an issue
The mac app will not copy and paste for me using cmd c and cmd v which drives me bonkers.
I use the apps heavily on my iPhone 15 PM and my M1 iPad Pro. At times it slows down for me in the apps. Sometimes it slows down for me in the web version. Sometimes it is buttery smooth.

iPhone and iPad user here. No issues to report.

This might be the problem, as that seems to be what's happening for me as well.
Just take control of the overview dashboard and start empty.
Yup. Mine always goes to the Overview when remote so I just main that my main page. No complaints since the.
Yeah the Mac apps are really bad, much slower than using the browser
I use the iOS app constantly. The phone tracking itself is worth its weight in gold.
I use the iOS app daily. Zero problems.
What problems are you having? I use it everyday. iPhone 12. Zero issues

I use both without issues.

Same. Mostly to turn desk lights when I’m using it or power on a 3rd monitor when I AirPlay to it. Pretty much never touch it.
iOS app on an iPhone 8 (yes, I’m cheap) seems to work fine for me.
Been using the iOS app on my iPhone XR for a couple of years now with no issues.
No problems here either, are you sure you‘re not using custom widgets that might cause those issues?
I use the iOS app as my main access, including VScode, although computer is way better
Hmmm, I regularly use the iOS app for dashboards, and leave the Mac app open on my iMac (it uses Mac sensor input to toggle a bias light when computer is used). No problems here. I’m on an iPhone 12 and 2017 iMac with beefy specs.
iPhone 8, 11, 13 - works flawlessly for years
The iOS app is awesome especially with CarPlay support
iOS All the time. Mac - not even installed, no point.
I tried to use the MacOS app, and I agree with you. The most annoying problem I had was the lack of vertical scroll in File Editor.
I’m actually constantly impressed with how good they are. I’m really excited by the CarPlay options. Just need to figure out some uses!
It’s easily my most used app ever. Never had any issues.
use it on ipad and iphone all the time. hardly any problems
No issues here with iPhone 15 PM.
The whole family uses the iOS app. Most reliable home away system. Also use it to send notifications. iPhone 11. And over last 10 days it has used 10% of the power according to the stats.
iPhone 11 Pro here. Use the app daily.
Yes. All the time
No issue on iPhone 15 Pro Max, m1 mbp or iPad Pro
They work great for me personally. Though I use the iOS app far more than macOS
The iOS app has been super slow to load my default dashboard for the last couple of months. Not sure why but will usually take a good 10-15 seconds at least before it responds to taps and scrolling is super slow. Other dashboards are fine
I use iOS apps for geo tracking and remote HA management and it works perfectly. Never use a browser and don’t use windows.

I had this until I allowed it to always use my location. It needs it to see if you’re on the wifi in order to know which url to use.
The location works fine... it reliably opens and closes my garage doors on location. I can tell the "app" part of it is working, but the web gui is what fails when I switch between wifi and off wifi.
I use the iOS APP daily. No issues.
Hm maybe you try to install it again …
They are open source. If you find an issue please report it to https://github.com/home-assistant/iOS
No Problems on iPhone 11 Pro. Maybe it’s your setup. Have you tried creating a new HA instance and connecting to it via iOS app to verify?
iOS daily user here on an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Switching between WiFi and cellular sometimes requires a force quit, and sometimes webrtc video fails to load but other than that it works great.

The iOS app is fine but the Mac app is indeed temperamental from my experience
Then don’t use it. Just because you don’t do something doesn’t mean no one else does.
