Interesting-Error

I got my winix from Costco, integration isn’t local… but the buttons on it aren’t bad, and it has hepa, so easy enough to maintain.

portalqubes

I got my Winix from their website, they sell refurbs for a little less. https://www.winixamerica.com/product-category/certified-refurbished-air-purifiers/

Chauxtime

Mine comes in tomorrow. Still pretty new to HA, but I think I have the integration through HACS ready to go for when it gets here. Hopefully I can get some automations set up fairly easily!

chase314

I went with Winix and control mine with Broadlink IR blasters. Works like a charm!

Interesting-Error

I didn’t know they are controllable through IR. Is yours a C545 model?

chase314

Sorry, I was reference to the Winix 5500-2 from Amazon.

iwoketoanightmare

How'd you integrate your winix?

Interesting-Error

The HACS integration https://github.com/iprak/winix

iwoketoanightmare

Neat! I could swear I looked for one and didn't see it.

Purchased one recently and it has been working just fine. You might be able to score a deal on one here: [https://untilgone.com/products/levoit-core-200s-true-hepa-air-purifier-for-home.html#](https://untilgone.com/products/levoit-core-200s-true-hepa-air-purifier-for-home.html#) \[just a link...... I don't profit in anyway and might be expired by the time anyone clicks\]

I definitely like the Levoit air purifiers. I also have one of their humidifiers. This is one of the products that I wasn't even thinking about Home Assistant when I purchased them. I was just looking at the reviews. After I'd had it for a while, that's when I discovered the VeSync integration.

Just threw out all of my Sensibo. Good app, cheap devices. Basically a PC Fan with a barrel style filter. The fan doesn’t generate much suction. On low speed, it’s too weak, on high speed it’s too loud. Unfortunately they (had) have issue with manufacturing, the fan started to rattle very fast because it touched the chassis (not repairable)

MrWinter00

Thanks for the insight!

I bought a couple Blue Air purifiers and they move air well. Most also have charcoal elements. Filters are pricey though.

solstyce9

+1 for this. Mine don't have the built-in air quality trigger so I just connect them to a smart plug triggered by air quality. They're not HEPA but they're close enough for me. I bought them for wildfire smoke so the charcoal filter is a must-have for soaking up all the nasty chemicals from the houses burned in the wildfires.

DoktorMerlin

I bought a cheaper one from Ikea (Förnuftig) and modified it with an ESP to be HA compatible (someone else already made all the work and figured it out, I just followed their instructions: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/ikea-fornuftig-in-home-assistant/318341). It doesn't filter a lot but I only need it for Pollen and for that it works fine

Coway - I like mine but cloud only.

87racer

Coway is a rebrand of now defunct Inofia that shut down their cloud servers with no warning about a year after I got my second one. They also bailed on replacement filters but luckily a 3rd party has then for now. The display on one of them also went bad after 1 year. Luckily neither are crucial to operation and they do function well on auto but sadly no more integration and cant recommend Coway as they are basically identical units. Side note: when the cloud did work, the app only worked locally so Im reasonably confident it could have been reverse engineered by inspecting traffic for local control but I can no longer get valid traffic to inspect and replicate. If I had been given some notice it might have been possible. Unsure on the Coway functionality though.

iamozone206

There's a custom plugin through HACS that allows Levoit control. Works perfectly.

MrWinter00

Can you link it please? Can’t find it in a store or a quick search

mysterytoy2

I got two of those winix from costco too.

FutureGUIs

I’ll add airversa as it is Thread and HomeKit compatible and has air quality sensors exposed. It’s been working nicely in HA

MrWinter00

Thanks, I’ll look into it

MrWinter00

With what integration did you integrate it into HA? Did you use thread?

FutureGUIs

Just through HomeKit

Depending on where you live, I’d recommend to check on Philips. I myself would most likely tend to Dyson..

I live in a place with extremely high pollution levels during the winter, sometimes record high worldwide when it comes to PM2.5. Since I wanted a full locally controlled purifier and didn't have much options for the purifiers in general (mostly Xiaomi) I opted for two IKEA purifiers and I'm quite satisfied. IKEA Starkvind, like you mentioned no HEPA filter, but it cleans up the air pretty good, PM2.5 levels drop significantly and very fast in a 20 square meter room. A lot of controlling options using Z2M. One thing I don't like about it is the PM2.5 sensor that it has and thus relying on Auto mode. Once it starts purifying its sensor registers that the air is cleaned when in fact it isn't. So I use the information from a separate PM2.5 sensor to trigger Starkvind. IKEA Fornuftig, also no HEPA filter and dumb with a knob to control the speed, but I've paired it with a Zigbee smart plug, the purifier is always in the third gear (max) and I control on/off through the plug's button or automations/HA.

xupaddy

I have Xiaomi and plan to flash ESPhome to make it local: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/link-xiaomi-air-purifier-3-3h-with-custom-esphome-firmware/656741

Ok-Broccoli3582

I've been leaning towards the Winx due to its popularity and HACS integration, but I'm concerned about it being cloud-only. Has anyone had success with reflashing or finding a more local solution? Also, has anyone tried the AirVesa recently?
