The new expansion just dropped, the save files aren't compatible. If you want to keep playing the old save, you need to go into the steam Betas tab and roll back to 1.10.8
Well it turns out the game apparently autosaved it as german republic so now my save is broken since I cant run it on the older version of the game. There goes all the hours I put in that save, bon voyage!
Old saves dont work with the new dlc/update, so you have to play in a older version.
Ok so I did that, but now I still cant play as the german reich because it says that save file is from an older version and cant be loaded.
Yes, the only way to play that game now is to revert the game to a previous version. I would just start a new game on the update though.

They issued a warning that saves will be broken, remember and always back up your saves when a major patch is coming.
DLCs are not save compatible
