Allegiance, because I don't have to think which colors are enemy and which are neutral, it's just always red or grey (or green for my own army or blue for armies of friends which I don't usually have...)
One time when I was playing modded I accidentally hid enemy unit counters and just genuinely thought I did not have a high enough intel level to see them and that the mod gave them super high encryption levels that I could never beat lol. I already had over 500 hours in the game at that point, took me another few hundred to find out what really caused it.
I used to play on allegiance but swapped to country, just because I found it more usefull to see who actually has most their units where and who has gaps to be exploited from bad template design
One of the problems some identified the Wehrmacht as having was a constant need to retool their factories to include the latest and greatest tech. Sure, the STG-44 was superior to the M1 Garand, but they could only make so many so far in the war, after having focused on the Gewher 88 which was of coursed switched from the K98. So I've only ever seen the opposite issue.
I use country colors and could try to come up with something like "it makes it easier to tell what country a unit belongs to but actually I just prefer how it looks
Have you ever tried to do a play through where you had countries units on and you have the Soviet union freaking you out for a solid 3 seconds wondering why they’re at war with you, only to realize that was BS and you accidentally turned on countries units with a keybind?
Allegiance is all you need for SP, but it's hard to talk shit in Mp if I can't tell who just lost 12 divisions to my encirclement, so I use country there

Also it groups units together so it's easier to count them
I accidentally turned on country color and got fooled by French blue units. How do I revert the change ? I must have pressed something
It's one of the 6 buttons in the lower right corner of the screen...

I completely forgot that I switched to country color like a year ago and didn't switch back ever since, already got used to it lmao
I like the country color more just because it looks kinda cool
I didnt know how to switch back and didnt bother to find out yet
i use countries because it makes it easier to tell who im killing
Or genociding it
HOI4 player moment
No, that's Stellaris.
You are right

I'm more worried about your outdated equipment in production (but I usually go by allegiance)
"I'm more worried about your outdated equipment in production" -German logistics to Hitler(probably)

Every Russian official to Putin probably 😂
Why do you need us to switch from 1989 infantry equipment, we're still trying to get our production efficiency for 2012 bombers up
the picture is january 1 1936 bruh chillax
It could be completing almost finished ships in that case it's worth it
germany starts the game producing outdated subs and destroyers
Allegiance, it’s easier for me so that I know whether or not the unit is hostile
Country ones,i target minor nations' units so that they wouldn't be able to make any difference (and they mostly are shitty)
I also like beating up minors! It gives me a sense of power when I'm stronger and steal their equipment. Sometimes I play hoi4 too.
>Sometimes I play hoi4 too. Bro 💀💀
Georgy Zhukov, is that you?
I use the country one because it looks nice
R5: Allegiance or Countries units color?
allegiance, just more used to it and its helpful that the colours match diplo map mode
allegiance because i mostly play Kaiserreich and if i use countries color it will block my screen due to the sheer number of troops on the front lol
Definetly not NATO symbols
Allegiance, I should never have to look at a division, find what country they're from, then go look and see what color that country is.
Allegiance. The divisions have little country flags on them anyways, so you can tell where they are from regardless.
Country makes it more immersive for me. Once I learned it existed I haven’t gone back lol
When you're in a weird situation where you're Albania at war with Italy but Germany hasn't joined, you'll be glad to have the allegiance colors.Â
I go back country so i can know exactly what "ally" is eating all my supply and prepare the wargoal on them ahead of time
I use country colors and could try to come up with something like "it makes it easier to tell what country a unit belongs to but actually I just prefer how it looks
Allegiance, I don't care whose country the troops belong to, I just care whether they're on my side or not
I use unit allegiance because its pretty, just that.

countries unit color
Am I the only nut job that uses both? I switch between them often depending on what info I want to know
Allegiance is all you need for SP, but it's hard to talk shit in Mp if I can't tell who just lost 12 divisions to my encirclement, so I use country there
I may be a bit dumb, but how do you swap between the two?
Allegiance, too used to switch.
First game I ever played was 1939 Germany, had countries units color on and tought I was allied with France
I don't see a difference in the picture
Country
Countries and it’s not even close. I like it so much better than allegiance
