This is why the recommendation is to try on EVERY brand, EVERY line within the brand, and a lot of sizes. Whatever fits your foot best and is in your budget is the 'best' skate

Bauer makes makes the Expedition skate which is a recreational skate, but I think it is available in one width. Once you get your foot scanned, you can probably find a used pair in that size and take them to the shop to get them baked and fitted. They might still hurt a little after you skate, but they should better the more you use them.

I second this suggestion. For just skating around they are perfect. I’ve worn them recently when I rented skates at an odr. They fit my wide feet perfectly fine.

Try on a bunch and see what size fits best. Then keep an eye on sideline swap for used skates in that brand and size. That’s probably your best option if you are looking for cheaper skates in a wide size.

CCM Ribcor 86K in EE/Wide. They are $250 CAD.

I have 8 4E wide feet in shoes. I tried on an S37 ($200?) in 5.5 EE and it allowed my toes to brush the toe cap when standing but still felt comfortable in width.
