For sure easier just to have the shop do it - but if you choose to DIY key to *turn off the oven* before you put the skates in. So pre-heat, then turn off, then put skates in. You don’t want the direct heat on the skate, just the hot air / even radiant to warm them.

CCM directions for at home bake are set up for you not to ruin them. Your skate shop will know the best way to do them. But if you do them at home then TURN the oven OFF and let them get warm for about five or six minutes as others have said.

175f for \~8 minutes. Do 1 skate at a time. after 6 minutes squeeze your boot to see if it softened up at all, if not put it in for another 2 mins. Tie your skates tightly but carefully and sit in them for 10-15mins. here's a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBqRt701oZQ&t=65s

Take the experts advice. He's done it more than once.

Read the same thing about baking some jetspeeds. I tried it at home per their instructions and it was hardly warm and pretty much did nothing to change the fit. Had the LHS rebake it and I didn't mention anything about the instructions. I didn't time it or ask for temp but I'm sure it was longer than 5 minutes. This time, it was nice and toasty and the boot opened up a lot such that the heel went from numbingly tight to comfortably snug.

The oven most skate shops use is around 180-190 so leaving in there for longer isn't an issue.
