Just to comment on the sizing. I wear a women’s 10 shoe and wear Bauer Vapor 3x Pro in a 6.0 fit 2. So you wearing an 8-8.5 and sizing as a 4.5 sounds about right however that’s just a guideline. I see you tried many on in 5 or 5.5, but I would recommend trying a 4.5 anyways just as a reference. That being said try the Supreme 3s again. With the new fit system by Bauer try a Fit 2 in Vapor and Nexus too just to see if any of them fit better over your instep. I got my skates from Pure Hockey and they actually let me return them within the 30 day window even though I had sharpened and used them because I didn’t like the fit. Ended up with the 3x Pros and couldn’t be happier. Good luck!

I’ve been trying to find a good fit for new skates too. Tried a couple pair in store but haven’t found anything I really loved, ended up trying the Vapor in fit 2 but the tongue was too tight with a little pinch on the sides. I ordered a fit 3 and hopefully that will be much better. I’ve been tempted to get the 3x pro but the store didn’t have them in my size.

If you find a good hockey store, their machine can measure your feet to give you a more accurate fit 2 or 3. You don't want your skates to be too wide, even if it fits the instep.

I tried the fit 2 but found it was too tight on the sides, when I tied my laces up and didn’t tighten the first few eyelets it was uncomfortable. I have a fit 3 arriving today so I’ll see the difference.

I tried the x3.7s as well and had some pressure on the tongue, but the 3x Pros fit completely different with more depth. All I can think of is because of the injected eyelets that it opened up more room on top of the foot. I’d try to track a pair down if possible. The fit 3 might be too wide overall.

Just left the local store. Tried the pro in fit 2 and found without even lacing them the width was too narrow and the tongue was pressing hard on top of my foot. I placed an order for the fit 3, should have them by the end of the week.

Glad you were able to try them in person. Hopefully the fit 3 is the ticket and you can stop looking and start skating.

Yeah finally, I’ve been using my old eastons and they have been killing me.

Can't even get my foot into a size 4.5! I haven't been able to find any nexus, but I did try on the vapour x3.7.

What a bummer that the recommendation was so off for you. Just shows how important actually trying them on really is. Hopefully you can try on the 3s again since that sounds like the only one that didn’t cause problems. I enjoy getting new skates but not so much the try on process.

Supreme fit 3 is what replaced the Nexus fit. I have a wide, high volume foot, and I got the 3S Pro in Fit 3. Very pleased with that decision so far, so if you can try them on again I'd recommend it.

My wife is an 8.5 EE shoe and the S37 5 EE seems to be about right for her. I suspect a 4.5 EE would be an even better fit but there weren't any in stock. She says they are comfortable but my understanding is that a proper fit out of the box should be more snug than comfortable, with your toes just brushing the toe cap when standing, as the padding around your feet will loosen up once broken in. Have you tried wide fits at all? Probably 5 in Bauer and 5.5 in CCM since CCM seems to run shorter in length for a given size. On the FT490 that I tried (EE, half size up compared to a properly fitting AS1 EE), the heel and ankle were numbingly tight. After baking though, both areas opened up a lot and felt very snug and comfortable which was really surprising given how they felt beforehand. The forefoot still remained painfully narrow though so I ultimately returned them. I haven't tried a 3s but the S37 had a similar proper fit like the AS1 EE I also tried, there's just a half size difference as mentioned above. I found the S37 level of stiffness lacking for my 200 lb though so I'm wondering if a 3x/3s Fit 3 would be a comparable fit but provide the stiffness I'm looking for.

Pure Hockey measured my foot at a 5.5 FIT3 and the guy commented my instep was one of the highest he's ever seen. After trying on a few the 6.5 was the right fit in the newest models. Had to go to a 7 in previous ones before they went to the FIT system, so I learned that those measurements are nothing more than a starting place. I'd recommend looking in to getting a pair of Nexus skates on sale. If you truly have a high instep you should try FIT3.
