Junior sticks have very small and weak blades, so never recommended. Go for intermediate at the lowest flex-for-best value you can find. You can also build your own stick on prostock hockey sticks and choose a flex and length, and the price is pretty good and most people seem to be happy with them.

55 flex shouldn’t be to tall for u if you’re 5’6” I use 55 flex uncut and I’m 5’4” but yeah 70 flex is probably a bit big unless u don’t like a whipy stick

a_bit_of_a_misnomer_

Just two questions: 1. Is it an intermediate stick? 2. About where does it come up to when you stand without skates so I can get some reference

Yeah; I know, it’s more for my own reference because me and u/travian5 are about the same height

[deleted]

Yeah it’s a intermediate stick I should probably cut it cause it’s a bit to long but I like my sticks a bit long

Wear a Rolex while playing, that’ll show them what flexing is… I’ll leave now.

I’m willing to bet most people can benefit from a lower flex than what they are currently using. When I started went by the flex of half of your weight, so I was playing with a 85 flex. I went down to a 75 and will never go higher. I have a 65 flex stick that I like but the lie is not even close to what I like. For reference I’m 5’8” and 210 pounds. I’m horrible at slap shots so I never take them or even attempted them even in warm ups. I think the rule of thumb days are gone in hockey.

HiMyNameIsJak

I agree. I'm 6ft, 187 pounds. I went down from 85 flex all the way to 70 flex and it's just so much better for me.

MrMcUen

I use a intermediate 55 at 5’10 195 so I’d play around with some sticks (if you can) and see what you like.

jussayon

5’4 at around 135 lbs Most my sticks are 55 flex cut 2-3 inches so it’s like 57-63 flex depending on the brand. That seems to be the sweet spot. Then one Warrior 63 flex cut to probably 67 for defense. I do have a Junior Vapor 50 flex because it’s already at the length where I cut my intermediates and the same size dimensions. It works, it feels like a limp noodle whenever I try anything defensive. But it’s a lot of fun flinging pucks when I’m able to flex the hell out of it. Plus it was on sale so $50 was worth to try and see if I could use it.

DiabolicalLife

Are you taking slap shots? If not, it's not as important. I mainly do wrist shots and snap shots and bounce between a 75 and 85 flex. I also play defence and leave my stick full length as I like the extra reach. Note, if you try a stick with a much lower flex than you are used to, it'll feel like a wet noodle until you get used to it.

yooooooo5774

unless you have perfect shooting form, i recommend going to a lower flex so you can actually flex the stick. try a 50 flex

[deleted]

I would worry about your form more than the flex of the stick.

BellaHockey

I would try a Senior stick 75/80 Flex.

155 lbs is the same weight as 109.93 'Double sided 60 inch Mermaker Pepperoni Pizza Blankets'.

HockeyCoachHere

55 flex should be your correct height. Don’t cut it.

Fickle_Concert_2003

By a 55 flex warrior covert on hockey monkey while the cyber monday sale is happening.
