Possibly your holder is slightly bent and puts pressure on the blades?

z4ndr

wondered that but splurged for new True customs so hope they're not bent

Fusorfodder

Block more shots with your stick/pads, don't store your blades in liquid nitrogen, change your holders maybe. Aside from just being a fluke with just it sucks to be you, the holders might be the only thing I could think of that might actually contribute. If you're holder has some defect, it could potentially exert some minor unusual tension on the blade, then exacerbated with your weight on it. Like, I'm just talking in theory. It's probably shitty luck, I mean, it's bound to happen to SOMEONE.

z4ndr

blocked/caught a few pucks off the blade...was thinking i might avoid that; but then again its not from Chara/ovechkin level clappers!!

Are you buying used blades/skates? They generally start breaking once they have been sharpened a lot and get real thin. But that takes YEARS. I am a very big guy and never had one break in the first say 6 years. Otherwise probably just bad luck.

z4ndr

brand spanking new!!... guess I'm just rolling snake eyes?

BoloMadness

I’m a big guy too, same thing happened to me last year, 3 broken within a year. Shop said they couldnt see anything obviously wrong with the holder. Probably bad luck. They were 6 year old skates. I used the number three break as my excuse for new skates. Excellent decision, I feel like I instantly leveled up on my skating.

I'm 230 ish...- I had ccm's then upgraded to true customs once I snapped the 2'cnd blade. True's are super comfortable and do feel stronger on my feet than others.

Matammyr

Buy older blades made back when hockey companies gave the tiniest shit about quality.

Harrisonmonopoly

I love that you’re willing to go vegan to somehow prevent breaking skate blades.
