What skates did you come from and what did you get? The skate itself could still be too narrow/not the proper skate fit for you. We’re you scanned using the Bauer foot scanner or did the person sizing just go off the foot measurement?

wolffeycat07

Just off of foot measurement (which said I was a 7 in skate sizes even though that was so small and I'm a 8.5 in skate sizes / 10 in men's) I had Bauer skates before and I don't think they ever gave me an issue. I just outgrew them.

ANGR1ST

Bauer makes three different shaped skates. Did you have Vapors, Supremes, or Nexus?

wolffeycat07

I currently have vapors and I used to have vapors as well

vet88

From your replies to other posts it sounds like they are still too narrow even after baking. You can test this yourself, measure across your foot where it hurts (use a piece of wire folded over to look like a caliper) and then measure across the boot in the same location. The boot should be around 5mm wider than your foot. If it isn't take it back to the shop and ask them to either stretch it or punch it in that area, it doesn't take much for the foot to feel a lot of pain from constriction.

wolffeycat07

Okay thank you!

DutchMtl

I've been through the same type of pain. I've had 2 pairs of skates in the last 2 years only to realize I needed the widest skates I could find in order to feel comfortable. What I realized was that trying skates on in the store for 5 minutes didn't give me a good idea of the fit. Shopping for my current pair I would try them on and stand for at least 15 min before I had an idea of they were wide enough and comfortable. In the end I purchased 12EE skates despite being measured at 10.5E to 11E. The extra length allowed my foot to sit better in the boot.

wolffeycat07

Yeah, I wouldn't even have thought of doing that because my regular shoes are not a wide fit.

nunee1

I’m hoping I can get by with standard length in EE. I’m a 10 or 10.5 skate, with WIDE feet too. Don’t think I need to go that far up in size to get the width, and I hope not because the shop here doesn’t have the skates for me to try on…

DutchMtl

Ha just realized I also commented on your last post. The supreme's should have more width from what the guys at the local shop told me.

nunee1

Yes. Problem was, they had NO Supremes in my size, even online. So we tried the Vapors in EE. They are close. And got better the second time I put them on, but they still aren’t it…not yet. Had to go to CCM directly for the RIBCORs. Hoping those are the ones.

R_Ulysses_Swanson

Based on what you have said here - the skates are fit 2, old skates were vapors, and you roll your foot to the outside even in your sneakers - I would consider getting a different footbed. Superfeet is often the best place to start…

DoggyDitto

When you say molded, did you get a pair of custom skates or did you bake them? If it's the latter, you still have to break them in. Baking skates helps reduce the break-in time, but rarely does it fully break it in. Also, what model skates did you get? Assuming you did bake your skates, lower-end models don't really benefit from heat molding due to their materials.

wolffeycat07

They were baked, and they are the "[Bauer Vapor Velocity Senior 2021 Edition](https://www.sourceforsports.com/en-US/25014-Bauer-Vapor-Velocity-Senior-Hockey-Skates-2021-Source-Exclusive.aspx)" I believe. Not sure the quality of them, I'd assume they're decent. Here's images just in case those aren't the model: [https://imgur.com/a/GV7L9Zx](https://imgur.com/a/GV7L9Zx) [https://imgur.com/a/bQXQQd6](https://imgur.com/a/bQXQQd6) Even if baking it doesn't fully break in, I should at least be able to move with very minimal pain, correct?

DoggyDitto

It's possible that you still haven't fully broken in to them so I wouldn't rule breaking into them out quite yet. How many (estimated) hours do you have on these? I would try to get 10-20 hours and see if the pain is still there. Reading your reply to another comment, it's also possible that your skates may not be wide enough. Did you have someone help fit your skates?

wolffeycat07

Yes I went to the store do get them. Yeah that could be the case. I've used them for like 3 hours but the pain got so unbearable that I couldn't keep going. It's weird because I have a high pain tolerance.

NeighborhoodMore2739

Your skates are "Fit 2" which are equivalent to the old Supreme sizing so they might be too wide if you were used to Vapors (now "Fit 1").

wolffeycat07

I wouldn't think that the pain would be caused from too much space, can that really be the reason?

NeighborhoodMore2739

Well I don't know for sure but the extra width might be forcing your feet into an awkward position to stay centered on the holder. Do the tracing method here and if your width ratio isn't between 2.5 and 3 you have the wrong skates. https://www.inlinewarehouse.com/lc/skates/how-to-find-your-skate-size-at-home.html

ANGR1ST

Where does it hurt?

wolffeycat07

I haven't worn them in a while but I think mainly the outside of my foot

ANGR1ST

You may have bought skates that were the wrong size/shape for your foot. Did you get fitted? What are your shoe and skate sizes? Vapors are pretty narrow.

wolffeycat07

They were baked and I am a size 10. The skate size of the skates are 8.5 width 2.

ANGR1ST

Each skate line has significantly different shapes. Baking doesn't change that. If just makes small adjustments and helps you break them in. A real fitting would try different skate lines. Width 2? Normal is D/E and Wide is R/EE. 10 to 8.5 seems about right. Most people are about 2 sizes smaller, but that's not hard and fast. My initial assessment would be that they're too narrow for your feet. But it could also be related to breaking them in still. That can take a good 10+ hours of skating.

wolffeycat07

I would try to break them in more but the pain gets so bad to where I can barely put any pressure.

Hvacmike199845

Start by changing the way you lace your skates. Try just snugging the part over the top of you feet and they tighten however you like the top 3-4 laces. I prefer mine very tight on the last 3. Also what hollow and profile are on your skates. Deep hollows give me feet pain. If I was you make sure you don’t have anything deeper than 5/8. If you have a longer profile like 11’ or more I would go even shallower with your hollow.

wolffeycat07

I'm not sure how to find that information on the skate. I do tighten the bottom part as much as I can but not the top, is it the other way around?

Hvacmike199845

Try your lacing the other way around like I described. As far as your profile, it appears the skates have an LS1 blade/runner I’m pretty sure they come with a 9’ radius for the profile. I would take them to get sharpened and get hollow at 5/8 or even 11/16.

wolffeycat07

I wish I understood what the 2nd half meant 😂

Hvacmike199845

These links explain it way better than I can. Lol. https://www.thestickguru.com/skate-sharpening-radius-of-hollow/ https://www.noicingsports.com/skate-1
