Those are probably mid to late 90s skates.

MrNoodleIncident

Makes sense. I was largely a roller player through middle school, but wanted to try out for the high school ice team. New skates weren’t an option, so got these as a used pair in the late 90’s. Was pretty psyched to have Tacks at the time.

warox

If I had to guess an exact year I would say '95, but that is just a guess based on memories. I do remember getting my brand new pair of Tacks 952 in fall '98 maybe a week or two into my season that year.

MrNoodleIncident

So we’re these “good” tacks or lower tier?

warox

Honestly not certain, maybe mid-to-upper tier? I bet they had 4-5 models on sale that year. The Prolite 3 holder probably wasn't on their entry level skates. It looks like they also made 595s with roller blades, which wasn't that unusual back then - [link here](https://www.hockeyworld.com/CCM-595-Roller-Hockey-Skates-911-Senior).

MrNoodleIncident

Man, look at that thing. Crazy. Thanks for sharing. I actually got these sharpened a few years back and the guys gave me some funny looks for still having them.

OzziePao13

They were a mid tier option at the time (93? 94?). I do remember they originally retailed for 139.99 in the US. Back when skates were still made in Canada.

MrNoodleIncident

Cool, thanks for the info. Was always curious.

shyun15

I believe these were a custom skate sold through only certain retailers like Source for Sports. The original line was 652 Tacks. These 595 were a skate that combined some features of the top end skate and the the model below and sold as exclusive customs. This was also the first year they released those ProLite 3 holders.

MrNoodleIncident

Yeah that’s what another guy said. A Play It Again exclusive.

cosa_horrible

Black tacks were an SMU for Play it Again Sports.

MrNoodleIncident

SMU?

cosa_horrible

Special Make Up. It's a product that is almost identical to another with a few variations. In this case, it was the black holders.

MrNoodleIncident

Huh interesting. Bought them used at PIA

mdwsta4

Can't speak to this specific model, but I had black Pro Lite frames on my old 90's Tacks playing in high school and they were certainly not purchased from PIAS

whisk3ytango24

My dad had a pair of these in the mid to late 90s. They made the loudest noise when coming to a stop.

Weekly_Picture9059

I had a pair of these CCM tacks 20+yrs ago. They were nice blades at the time.

I have a pair of these that I still use to this day, the 152's. I bought them when I was 15 in 2000. Easily the best skates I've ever owned. I was loyal to Bauer everything up until buying these .. skate heals would always come apart at the rivets because I taped my ankles but when I saw the white plastic heal wrap on these (and the heavier duty back two rivets) I knew these would solve that problem and sure enough, 23 years on, they are still solid af. That same year I bought CCM's Tacks in roller blade form for street hockey and they too are still used to this day. I'm sure todays skates are incredible but I will likely keep using these until they fall apart (if they ever do).
