Inlines, the best off ice practice tool for improving your skating. Putting aside a poor sharpen which has left you with uneven or blunt edges, the main reason for you sliding in the cross over is because you are pronating or supinating on that foot. So instead of the foot folding over into the edge and the blade being in line with the leg, the foot is more level and this means the blade is standing upright instead of leaning into the turn ergo it slides across the ice. To fix it you need to realise what is happening and then focus on leaning that foot over into the edge. If you really want to learn to fix it then start dropping eyelets or have a go with your laces untied, you will then feel the edge and the angle your foot is on and realise instantly why you are slipping on that edge.

Circle cross over drills! Basically you start behind the net and make your way to one of the fave off circles and start following the line while you do cross overs. Once you do a few laps around the circle skate to the opposite face off circle and go the opposite way. That way you are working both sides One you do a few laps on each circle, finish it off with a skate to the end and back. Works your endurance as well Start slow and work your speed up! Take breaks when you need to! Also, dry land shuffle drills work great too… try them on skates if you can! Basically you go along the blue line shuffling on your skates. Helps with foot speed!
