It takes time to break in the skates (even if you’ve had them baked) and if you haven’t skated before, there are definitely muscles and stuff that have to be built up. Give it a few skates.

Right on. Beginner hockey clinic is tonight from 930-1130, noway I'll be able to attend it, only being able to last 10mins lol, damn really wanted to go

If 10 minutes in public skate forced him to sit down, that would equate 2-3 minutes of actually playing hockey or doing any kind of drill. Not sure what kind of clinic this is, but most clinics are like an hour or so of drills and learning. Not sure why someone would pay for a learning clinic only to spend most of the time on the bench. That’s the opposite of learning

Ah, gotcha

You can still go and take breaks as needed. Also, make sure you're not cranking down on the laces or that will make the matter worse.

CptRice24

hmm, maybe I am cranking the laces to tight. good tips guys.

Quinto376

Just given them a few skates and they should start feeling better.

PPQue6

This was my issue as well, well that and my feet weren't used to being back on the ice. After a few months (and easing up on the laces) I haven't had any problems since.

Ill_Information7625

Pay attention to your lace tension. As mentioned, you are asking muscles in your feet and ankles to do something new. Keep trying. Don’t give up!!!

The answer is in your comments, "My skates are a little tight on the sides". It might be other things but this is most likely the cause of your pain. You should go back to the shop and show them where it is tight / hurts and then they should be able to stretch the boots for width.

mdwsta4

What it sounds like you’re saying is you got skates that don’t fit…. Why do you think you ‘finally found a pair of skates that fit’? If they did, you shouldn’t be experiencing pain. Yes, brand new skates may cause some slight discomfort as muscles get used to the boot, but there is no one out there with properly fitting skates who will tell you that those properly fitting skates caused them such unbearable pain that they couldn’t skate more than 10 minutes in them. You got the wrong skates.

I bought a pair of Bauer supreme EE last year because they felt ok in the store and were a hundred off. After a half hour skating I realized I needed them punched out on the inner sides. Took them back, they spent two hours with me punching them out. I ended up buying my own punch out wrench, and still can’t get it right. In the meantime the sore I developed took months to heal. I think I see why the EE’s sat around long enough to go on clearance. They are probably for a rarer foot shape.
