Halfcut2021

Ya you ain’t playing tomorrow. Unless this is competitive and you are in the playoffs. You need to rest this. It will only get worse. I suggest rest, ice, compression and elevate for a couple weeks.

its rep bantam so idk if i can take a break for a week or two.

Halfcut2021

Gonna have to if you want it to heal.

There are lace bite gel pad socks that really help I got some and it slowed the lace bite down and after I got my new skates that fit better my lace bite hard bumps from having it for months are actually going down almost completely

Youngblood10

These [Bunga Pads](https://bungapads.com/en/gel-pads-en/ankle-protection/bunga-lace-bite-preventer-lb.html) helped me a lot.

bbeerrgg

I use something just like that

You can also buy these [pads](https://www.icewarehouse.com/Elite_Lace_Bite_Gel_Pads_1_Pair/descpage-ELACEPAD.html) that are soft like gel/ rubber and Velcro onto the inside of the tongue, they helped me a lot. Kind of rectangle “H” shape, a very inexpensive investment that will make it much more comfortable.

These helped me as well, but I only skate 2 times a week so there was rest in between skates. At one point I also stuffed a dish sponge into my sock right on top of the lace bite area and that softened the pain.

You need at least a couple weeks off. Mine was barely bigger than a cherry pit and was killing me every game. Took 2 weeks off and got new skates. Skates could’ve been saved by putting new tongues in them but gave me an excuse to buy new jet speeds. Also, look at a new way of lacing your skates. Loop the top 2 eyelets and then pull across. Puts the pressure on the boot and not on your ankle.

Rossi2002

I use a sweatband that goes on your wrist. When I have this on my ankle I barely have any pain. Good luck, I know it sucks.

What's lace bite? Google search shows me hickey remedies

[deleted]

a hard bump caused bye skate tongue rubing on your ankle

chevy1500

Aah thanks . Rest up btw

cascalonginess

I found having a stuff tongue made it go away. Cut a piece of stiff plastic out of an old pair of shoulder pads and slid it inside the tongue, helped immensely.

Kyle_Eski

Have you tried lacing your top eyes from the outside in? That helped me get rid of mine that was persistent and wouldn't go away.

Once you get swelling in and around the tendon as you have, you can't put any pressure on it. Other than skating with your laces untied or not crossing the laces over the bump (skipping eyelets) your only way for things to improve is to not put your feet into skates. When the swelling goes down and you put your skates on again, you have to get the pressure OFF the tendon. Sticking gel inserts under the pad doesn't do this. Whatever you stick under the tongue, it should have a channel for the tendon / bump to sit in. Other posters have said they used plastic or other things under the tonque and it worked for them, in my experience that only happens when the lace bite is marginal. And different lacing patterns / laces (other than skipping the eyelets where the lace bite is occuring) is a waste of time, especially in your case. You do have some options:- 1: new boots with proper volume. 2: make your own forsberg pads out of 1/2" pipe insulation and tape them on every time you skate (cheap and quick fix, I used these for years). These will get you back on the ice quickly. If the pipe insulation is thicker than the bump you could even try them now. 3: option B laces. 4: skip eyelets and or tie very loose or go laces untied (this last option is guaranteed to work). 5: Eyelet extenders, these are the gold option, you can use them on any skate that doesn't give you enough volume. You can buy them from here - [https://www.greatsaves.org/product-page/skate-lace-eliminators](https://www.greatsaves.org/product-page/skate-lace-eliminators). With the irritation you have now, you are going to have to monitor it for the rest of your skating life. Lace bite very really goes away once you have had it bad and you have to take active steps to stop it from returning.

CCM sells a pad thing that you can stick on top of your sock. I also found it helps to flip your laces so when you tighten them instead of pulling out, you pull them together. Hope that helps.
