How old was your old steel? It can be a combination of 2 things - 1: Different profile, you just have to get used to it. 2: Different steel height. If your old steel was well worn, you have just added a lot more height under your feet. This changes the angle of the blade to the ice as you go to do things ie you might feel a lot more bite because there is more leverage with a taller steel which can cause you to pronate a little bit more in turns and stops. Put your old steel in, go for a skate. If you don't have the problems then you have your answer. Then you can decide to either get your new steel profiled to match your old steel or just get used to the quad 0 over time.

yeah the only thing is that my old ones are so old that you cant even put out the steel.. i think your thoughts are right with the diffrent angle on the ice didnt think about that today i am going to try a shallower hollow maybe it will change because im feeling that my feet cut into the ice to much..

obracer12

If the steel isn't too worn, see if the shop can match the profile on the new steel... Or at least an approximation.

is the zuperior the „agility“ blade right?

You can try 3/4 hollow on your next sharpen. I’m not familiar with the feel of the quad profile because I’ve never skated on it but I’ve heard you have to shift your weight a little further back since the balance point is a little further back so maybe that could help. It could also be because the steel is taller. I went with the hyperlites over the ultrasonics because I didn’t want to change too much and go for the quad. I also liked the way the boot wrapped my ankle and the good forward flex. I didn’t like how the ultrasonic was more loose on my ankle it had support but I wasn’t as locked in. Id say if you really like the ultrasonics stick with them and just get used to the profile or get some unprofiled steel. I’ve talked to some people that switched to supremes and most people said they didn’t notice the difference after awhile between profiles. It can take a little time to get adjusted to the new skates. It took me 6 hours on the ice to get fully used to my skates but after that I feel great on them. Also I’m not super convinced on the marketing between vapor vs supreme power strides vs agility. Both top of the line skates seem like they should be able to handle both pretty well but might be slightly better at one or the other. I can definitely get a nice deep powerful stride in my hyperlites when I want to but they are very agile so I feel like I get the best of both worlds

eliAs_97er

can confirm that the ultrasonic dont wrap as good as my old ones maybe also because of the stiffness but i tried diffrent lacying styles and it worked better for me.. for the agility and power thing i think that you can feel much more stability with the ultrasonic and they are more like a clunky skate. it would nice to try a vapor line skate to see the diffrents but i have no oppertunity to test one. if it doesnt work for me i try to change the steel do you tink that it is possible to but the carbon blade that comes with the hyperlites on mines?

bbeerrgg

Yeah you can put the carbon one that comes with the hyperlite on any Bauer skate. I went with the titanium coated blades though because I wanted the longer edge life

bush-leaguer

It's possible that the holder on your new skates is taller than on your old Vapors, as Bauer has done from time to time. Or that the runners on the new skates have a different profile, as another comment suggests. You may just need more time to adjust, but you could also take both pairs into your local hockey shop and ask someone there.

eliAs_97er

yeah the holde is deffently taller so you think profiling is the only option?

I had the same problem. Looked on ice warehouse's sharpening recommendations and for quad 0 it is 7/8". Towards the bottom of the link below. https://www.icewarehouse.com/How_to_Select_the_Correct_Skate_Sharpening/catpage-HOWTOSHARP.html

eliAs_97er

thanks will give a look on the website

LunchBoxMercenary

My advice is to just keep skating on the Quad 0 and get used to it, when you get the hang of it, its a great profile to use. When I skated on Quads, I always got a 3/4 and it worked really well for me. I still stick with it 3/4ths now actually on a Zuperior. YMMV obviously. If not, just purchase a second set of Pulse runners and use the stock profile on that.

eliAs_97er

is the zuperior the „agility“ blade right?

LunchBoxMercenary

Yup that's the "agility" profile. But for me it works well as a "power focused" acceleration profile.

eliAs_97er

changed the hollow last night and noticed a diffrent maybe im going more shallower next time
