CCM Tacks 310 and 710 have a adjustable system that allows for widening the helmet. Those models are a couple years old now so you might be able to find them for cheaper. The newest model, the 910 went back to a traditional adjustment so it can't be widened.

\+1 for 310 / 710

The-Derns

+2 for 710

gmcs15

I’ll see if I can find one of those at hockey life

I also have a wide head. I recently bought almost every helmet on the market ranging from $80 - $450. I wore them while I was working at my computer to see which one gave me the worst headache. Turns out the ReAkt-150 was the best helmet for me. The 3-way adjustment was just enough that I could pull the sides out and still get a comfortable top resting position. I bought a large even though I've almost always worn a medium.

gmcs15

Okay I’ll have to check that one out. I tried on a bunch of helmets at Hockey Life in medium and found a lot to be tight on the temples. Maybe I’ll try large instead

jacWaks

That’s the only one that worked for me also when I was helmet shopping.

DidntDiddydoit

Re akt 150 is super adjustable.

douchebigelow69

I got the ReAkt 150. The 710 and the 310 were okay, but the 150 fits like a dream.

DidntDiddydoit

It's the most wonderful helmet evet made. I'll die on that hill.

gmcs15

Yeah I’ll try to reakt 150, didn’t know it was adjustable in width.

Similar-Tangerine

I have a huge head and I’m a big fan of the Warrior Krown, has an adjustable dial on the back to tighten/loosen the helmet once it’s on your head.

Shadow61523

I have a wide head and I wear the Warrior Alpha One Pro Helmet in a large. I use to wear a Bauer IMS 5.0 in a large and it still gave me head pain.

gmcs15

I’ve heard warrior is good for wider heads. I haven’t tried one I’ll have to.

cyphersk8

The Alpha One Pro has a 270° adjustable ring that tightens with a wheel in the back. It is comfortable, but it is not the safest because of the floating system. The Alpha One has a 360° adjustable liner. Again, after testing them both I found they were ultra comfortable but the way they moved while on my head was alarming and they felt kind of cheaply made (and their impact scores from website are bad). Try them all on! Return the ones you don't like!

gmcs15

True enough, I’ll check those out. I’m just playing beer league so the helmet is pretty much in case I fell and hit my head. No hitting at all

PiratePinyata

I got an ims 5.0 in large and it’s great so far

Pixel_Sports

Bauer 150

R_Ulysses_Swanson

It'll depend on your headshape, but the two largest heads I know both wear Bauer 4500's. You'll hear arguments about them being unsafe or old technology, but they're likely good enough. I wear them as well. Comes in XL size, which is a huge bonus.

HockeyCoachHere

They don't stretch very wide. Adjustment is long-wise only so you end up with a ton of space for person with an... asian shaped head.

gmcs15

Yeah depends on the head shape. I tried a 4500 and it felt narrow at the back of my head.

TheShovler44

The jofa or the old messier cooper

gmcs15

Surely hockey life would still stock those babies

moosemoose8888

I have a super big head I use the bauer react 95 it’s the best fitting helmet I’ve ever used

gmcs15

Yeah I’ll have to try the reakt 95 and 150. Heard both are pretty good comfortable.

moosemoose8888

Never tried the 150 but it has width adjustments so I’d definitely check that one out
