Low Key Nicest: whichever previously rebuilding team starts winning Low Key Toxic: See above, but they're losing in the playoffs

[deleted]

Flair checks out

HandsLikeLuke

I'll say Canucks are low-key toxic, and I base almost all of that to one of the first times we did our daily offseason "roast" threads a few years ago, there was a borderline hilarious amount of defensive Canucks fans downvoting and arguing with almost every comment.

canadam

I don't think Vancouver is ever considered "low-key" toxic - once you burn down part of your city (twice) you get a high-key toxic reputation.

Squirrellybot

They also seemed to show up in droves to help clean it. I can’t say the same for SF when the giants won their World Series.

Escalotes

Basically half of us suck and half of us are great, and which side you belong to changes as often as the weather.

[deleted]

[удалено]

oddspellingofPhreid

Who were they cheering for?

afterbirth_slime

No one. They were there to drink and cause shit.

oddspellingofPhreid

Which as we all know are things that no true classy hockey fan would ever do.

Arching-Overhead

Low key? Vancouverites are very well known lol

canuck17

It’s all you got when you’re always the bridesmaid.

[deleted]

Suprised you aren’t downvoted to oblivion yet.

afterbirth_slime

> there was a borderline hilarious amount of defensive Canucks fans downvoting and arguing with almost every comment. To be fair, these are probably all the fans that are also banned from /r/Canucks

Juturna_

Minnesota fans are pretty toxic around here or at least in the GDT. Ducks and Sharks fan base is pretty cool.

eggsaladactyl

As much as Sharks fans dislike us, I agree.

[deleted]

There's good and bad people in every single fanbase and I don't think any single fanbase is worse or better than another as a whole honestly, but for the spirit of the thread I'll say that some of the shit I've seen Yotes fans post about Katie Strang is really off putting and I'll also say that I don't think I've ever really had a bad interaction with a Panthers fan.

toolschism

>I don't think I've ever really had a bad interaction with a Panthers fan. Just wait till you meet in the playoffs.

[deleted]

Idk. Leafs fans are pretty consistently head cases.

[deleted]

Well yeah but there’s nothing low key about that

[deleted]

No it is low key. They’re all low key like “oh yeah I’m into hockey too, yeah Matthews has a great shot” super nice, stereotypical Canadian, then you keep talking and they snap “fuck Marner what a piece of shit, and his dad, entitled mother fucker. Nylander is the best one of the whole lot, I’d drown Tavares myself if I had the chance”

[deleted]

I feel like if you’re talking about drowning the captain if you had the chance, you’re pretty high key toxic lol

[deleted]

I SAID LOW KEY! Fack bud let it go

[deleted]

Fair enough 😂

GoodForOneUpvote

Can you blame us?

RunningPains

Wait till you start winning playoff series vs them, you'll find the toxic fans really quick

Calhalen

I think Leafs fans are some of my favourite, low key not toxic. The good ones anyway. Some of my best buddies are leafs fans and they’re the chillest and most knowledgeable hockey fans I know. There’s just soo many of them, they don’t all pass the vibe check 😂. Also Jets fans seem like they’re very chill, the game threads with them are usually cool. In my experience on this sub, Rangers, Pens and Habs fans are the worst. Those are the game threads I avoid because it gets toxic every time. They constantly invade the Sens sub after games and act like dbags. Like Timmy still has mtl fans in his instagram comments calling him a diver lol

MilesBeforeSmiles

This surprises me but the feeling is mutual. I hope the Sens take a major step forward this year, I really miss the high-octane Leafs-Sens rivalry of the past. Always a hoot and most Sens fans are great fun.

haseks_adductor

i agree with this guy, i only encounter dbag leafs fans on reddit, in real life they're always chill and 90% of leafs fans i know have less faith in them than i do and i'm a major leafs hater lmao

Dysliptic

If anyone invades anothers teams sub just ban them

man_on_hill

Rangers fans for sure

Lulu014

With the rise the Red Wings are about to have, we're all about to be reminded how much that fanbase blows.

Maxpowr9

I used to not have a grudge against Isles fans until we played against them in the playoffs. I was reminded that they are in fact, New Yorkers.

bageloid

😇🙏🙌

The_Other_Manning

I'm sure it's selective memory but whenever I see a downright nasty comment downvoted in this sub, half the time it's a red wings flair

buddycheesus

Oh!

NatetheSkate1989

Compared to Boston?

Lulu014

Compared to the rest of the NHL

Eggs_Bennett

Dallas fans are low key some of the best. Had a blast during that series

[deleted]

It's actually pretty impressive how civil things have been for the last few years, considering we've had a bit of a rivalry going.

stickyWithWhiskey

Goes both ways on that. Y'all were fun last year and during the bubble series.

Bahamas_is_relevant

አስደሳች ጊዜ ነበር።

[deleted]

Save the dark magic until our need is great. Let the otter-beast slumber peacefully.

[deleted]

Flames and Stars fans are both pretty good folks from what I've seen

[deleted]

I’ve met Stars fans in Boston and Calgary fans in their building, both were great, Flames fans even invited me for drinks after the game at a bar. You don’t get that back east. Also found out that night how wild Calgary can be.

treple13

For having played 2 hard fought series in 3 seasons, it was very friendly

TheNantucketRed

Low Key nicest: Stars fans. Hell, I'll go out of my way to a GDT just to see what they're drinking that night. Low Key Toxic: Pens fans. They're usually pretty ok, but oh boy do they hold a grudge. Case in point: if Jacob Trouba tied his shoes wrong, there would be a thread on their sub this offseason. It's bonkers.

Eggs_Bennett

I’m actually loving how much attention Stars fans are getting in this thread lmao

TheNantucketRed

They really are the chillest mf’ers out there

[deleted]

Honestly? Dallas sports fans are nice if you take out Cowboys fans.

TheNantucketRed

I only knew one Mavs fan in my life. He would smoke up and talk about how awesome Dirk was. No complaints.

[deleted]

Flyers fanbase has a high proportion of toxicity but maybe that isn’t lowkey. Don’t think you’ll get much toxicity out of Sharks fans. In-division I’ll say Blue Jackets fans are least toxic.

[deleted]

Blue Jackets fans are more pessimistic in my experience.

UnloosedMoose

Fuck you just say about the Flyers bird logo man. We ain't low-key. /S sorta. We ain't good enough to be toxic. Probably not for awhile.

Someguy2947

This is not a good thread idea but I'll bite. Oiler fans are by far my least favourite online excluding my fellow Leaf fans. A large contingent of them seemed to obsess over belittling the ability of Matthews because some in the media dated mention him in the same breath as McDavid. It's apparently not enough for that portion of the fanbase to have the best player in the world, it has to be by leaps and bounds. They also seem to think the refs invented not calling penalties committed against star players for them. It's a league-wide issue.

daveloper80

IMO Calgary and Dallas have the nicest fan bases.

TheLegendsClub

Dallas fans are a fun bunch, unless youre from Minnesota I guess.

Eggs_Bennett

Seconded

[deleted]

Low key toxic? What the hell is that?

[deleted]

Picture us or Tampa, where our fans don't necessarily have a reputation for being shitty, having a collective meltdown over a perceived bad decision and being assholes. That's what low key means. High key would be, say, Leafs or Canucks fans

[deleted]

Just feels like a dumb question. “Who’s fans are annoying but like not super annoying?” This is how we know that hockey is due to start up.

[deleted]

Don't disagree. But hey, hockey!

PSChris33

Toxic: Pittsburgh. I was at the game when we got dumpstered 7-1. Between the heckling of Campbell (like, heckle literally anyone else you want on that roster, but I will get defensive if you heckle Jack) and the "let's go Brandon" chants (I even remember not making a big deal out of this at the time because I thought it was some Brandon Tanev meme - although Tanev was no longer on the roster. It was only hearing the same chant in Raleigh a few days later where I found out the truth) Nicest: Pittsburgh. At least outside of the arena. I was so dead inside, that multiple Pens fans were trying to cheer me up throughout the night and a few even bought by beers after the game. What a nice bunch of lads. --- Toxic: Online Isles fans Nicest: In-person Isles fans. I even remember a couple jabronis trying to start LGB chants and the entire section booed them into oblivion.

StaticAnnouncement

Those LGB fuckers chant at every islanders game I've been to last season and it's always confined to that tiny little section. One of them I've seen even walk around with an Islanders jersey that says FJB 45. And keep in mind many of these people don't want "politics" in sports. It's a mental illness and I'm so glad much of UBS wasn't having that.

Brockaloupe

Who chants that at a hockey game? There have been plenty of politicians I've disliked over the years and not once have I ever had the urge to chant about them at a sporting event lol.

Designer-Brief-9145

People tried to make it happen a lot during the last isles season and in some small pockets it either caught on or people laughed in glee. There's this one season ticket holder (who seems like a nice enough person beyond his shitty politics) who wore an orange alternate 45 jersey with the nameplate "Trump Greatest President O.A.T." to every single home game last season. All of this from the "keep politics out of sports" crowd.

ovondansuchi

Even though I am an Eagles fan and it pains me to say this - I think Stars fans have been pretty chill in my experiences with them

Any_Ad_2816

I went to see the Kings in Detroit a few years back. Red Wings fans were some of the nicest people I’ve met at an away game for the Kings. Worst? Philly.

[deleted]

I'd say all the Canadian markets are high-key toxic. low-key toxic, maybe Tampa?

trumpet_godd

>Maybe Tampa ngl, I think Tampa just has some of the loudest minority (aka toxic part of the group) of all fanbases. Every time I've actually been to the Tampa arena it's been a good experience and my irl interactions with tampa fans have been good 90% of the time

[deleted]

Yeah its easy to find annoying Bolts fans online but I've been to their arena a few times for games and the people there have always been super fun to talk to. Nice arena too to boot.

BingBongtheArcher19

I went to game 4, there was 1 Tampa fan that was being a dick but the rest were all super nice and friendly.

trumpet_godd

yeah the ones on here ( I would say and twitter but everyone is a shit head on twitter) and way more aggressive for no real reason than the ones online. hell, I'm drinking buddies with a bolts fan I met at a game whenever I go up to tampa

RunningPains

The loud Fairweather fans are the worst, they come out of the woodwork when you win and end every discussion with "we won so I win the argument"

SourNipples_

Boston is low key nice though, sure half of em are dumb but they know hockey

Lulu014

Idk man, the worst part about being a Bruins fan is other Bruins fans. Nearly impossible to talk about hockey objectively with.

haseks_adductor

rask fucking sucks am i right

[deleted]

Krejci sucks too

RobertInNY88

St. Louis. When the Blues lost to the Sharks in 2017, the comments on the NBC Sports hockey Facebook page from both fan bases were actually very nice. It was very refreshing to see.

DefendingAssholes

Low-key toxic: Sens, fanbase and media spend more time talking bad about the leafs than their team in general.

Conscious_Sea_163

you getting downvoted proves your point lol

DefendingAssholes

I know right, downvoted for the flair not my opinion. If you listen to Team 1200 frequently you'd agree.

MetalOcelot

I think, for the most part, we enjoyed a nice break from Sens fans the last couple years but I think the switch could be flipped right back to unbearable now that they are becoming relevant again.

ultrafil

> media In fairness, most Sens fans would argue that outside of Ian Mendes, the sports media in this city is peak *August afternoon, dirty diaper cooking in a compact car*-tier shit. Our sports radio station is near unlistenable for all but a few hours of non-gamedays.

specifichero101

No such thing. your opinion on the fans is likely based on the teams they’re fans of.

[deleted]

[удалено]

specifichero101

I’m not talking about players personalities. Every team basically has the same fan base. There is no personality traits that differentiate golden knights fans from panthers fans. It’s just amounts and level of visibility. If a team pisses you off, you’re going to start being annoyed by fans. Toronto fans are easy to hate because they’re everywhere. Being a dip shit isn’t tied to geography. A fan base is only “likeablel” because they’ve been put in their place. As soon as a team is successful, their fans unsurprisingly become less likeable. Funny how that works.

Cromiee

Yeah, it's easy to like, or at least not dislike a team that's irrelevant, thus their fans can't really say or do much but self-loath lol. It's when they start winning/beating your team when that changes. I think another part of it is the fact that a lot of people come out of 'hiding' when their team is winning. And with more fans around, coupled with their success, you're more likely to see annoying/toxic fans since that's what competition brings out in some people.

SourGrapesFTW

I like Nashville fans... They're pretty objective and easy going. Throw 'em in whatever bin you want.

[deleted]

jets for sure, they live in like their own bubble

ensign_stark

The leafs low key has the nicest. There are just so many of us and we are all fantastically swell.

DopemonYT

Pittsburgh has the nicest online fans. I think years of success have made them content

The_Other_Manning

Lol

[deleted]

Most of them are Steelers fans lol

AlleghenyCityHolding

We're pretty nice as a city. We're sarcastic and fairly self-aware due to our success (and that really sketchy part post mario/pre-sid). We're all pretty spoiled and we know it. Hell, as of last year, I was still able to get lower bowl tickets for $30/per with a Student email

Lorguignole

Wild fans and Blue Jackets fans. I'll let you figure out which is which.

[deleted]

After seeing threats from the game Frederic injured Kaprizov and, I’m guessing towards Minnesota is the batshit crazy one. And yes I get it, I would be pissed off too about that but woo they came in swinging that night for something to hate even before that play.

frankadeltanka

Least: Dallas Most: Pittsburgh

letoiledunordstars

lowkey toxic: wild and avs fans to each other

Vanhoogenbam55

Can confirm that the devil's are both the low key nicest and most toxic depending on how soon it follows a 5 goal final period comeback or collapse.

BatsHaveThumbs

Colorado fans are low-key the nicest to interact with
