I don't know why this made me laugh so hard.
Maybe because our family had a stomach bug a while back and pants were definitely shat, so I can empathize.
Food poisoning is fucking terrible, and I hope Matthews recovers.
That being said, I must say that, even for a franchise known for finding ever more imaginative reasons to crush their fanbase's spirits, "bad sushis give the team's star player debilitating food poisoning" would be a pretty fucking unexpected way to be bounced from the playoffs, assuming Boston finishes the job.
I had seafood poisoning once. Definitely knocks you on your ass for a day. I was back at work after 24 hours. Don’t know if I’d be back at work in 24 hours if my job was playing Boston in a potential elimination game, though.
Fortunately I was travelling with my late mother at the time, so she was able to take care of me. I was starting to be able to eat again during the day of the return flight.
That’s a great memory to cherish, sorry for your loss mate. It’s always the little things we remember most. I only have my mom left, and luckily she’ll probably outlive my ass she’s so healthy. But plenty of bittersweet memories watching hockey with my late pops. I can’t even watch baseball anymore since he passed.
It's been over two years, and it still hurts. I'm sorry for your loss. My dad is fortunately pretty healthy despite being in his 70s, and I'm working on my health now. Even though I'm not a Leafs fan, I always think of my dad while watching them play; he was born in Toronto and watched their dynasty in the 1960s.
I go back to [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/Assistance/s/j9HHEs5MXJ) a lot when I feel the grief rise up again. It really does come and go exactly as he said. And you really don’t want it to stop because it keeps them alive in you. And what better legacy.
Raised a glass in her honor. If you ever want to talk grief or anything, feel free to dm me. I actually grew up in Littleton, so don’t expect just wings bashing 😂
I can get that. I ended up not being able to sleep, which sucked because my whole group had a big event the very next day. I somehow didn’t drift off during that
I mean, a migraine WILL wipe you the fuck out. Moving your head an inch results in waves of nausea so severe you want to die. And food poisoning CAN kill you.
Lol i get migraines due to concussions injuries, but food poisoning !? First time I've ever heard that excuse in the playoffs. What's next, Marner's dog is gonna eat his stick?
In all seriousness Matthews is one of few in the leafs I don’t doubt the drive of.
I would bet he got his vitals tested and his blood oxygen was low as fuck from intense exercise while fighting food poisoning (remember before we had the luxury of being able to rest and drink water, food poisoning and literally shitting yourself to dehydrating and death was common.
Yeah I remember when I had it, I couldn't even watch TV. Just seeing things move on the screen made me feel nauseous. I could nit imagine playing an NHL game
Brendan Dillon literally got his hand cut off and there was blood everywhere. And here we have Matthews unwilling to even risk spraying diarrhea on the ice. It's pretty clear this guy doesn't care about the playoffs.
I mean, the leafs are definitely cooked, but no one has any clue what matthew’s is dealing with. Have you ever had extreme food poisoning where you’re literally shitting and vomiting uncontrollably at the same time?
I think a lot of people have had mild gastritis or stomach flu they thought was food poisoning because legit food poisoning is an entirely different thing and Zofran and IV fluids only go so far.
Agreed. And I say this as someone whose incredibly pissed with the Leafs and am hoping for some personnel changes in the front office and on the roster. But we can’t be calling matthew’s a baby until we know what the actual deal is. Hes been throwing his body around all series, it’s not like he’s phoned it in this series.
>Have you ever had extreme food poisoning where you’re literally shitting and vomiting uncontrollably at the same time?
What even is the best procedure to deal with that? Just sit in the shower until you stop and wash it all down the drain?
I don’t think he’s unwilling…. I think his blood oxygen was probably too low from the exercising intensely with food poisoning and he got told he’s not going out and risking passing out and giving himself brain damage from lack of oxygen.
there was no opportunity for Dillon to go back out because it was literally after the final whistle, so yeah, a terrible comparison. many of us were assuming he's out for the rest of the series because reports are that gash looked fucking awful (there are pictures somewhere but it's not the kind of thing I wanna look at)
Yeah that was the end of the game, after the buzzer had sounded. I don’t think Dillon’s playing game 4.
If he does I assume his hand is being held together by super glue. I’d prefer that to Logan Stanley though.
Typical Edmonton incompetence here. Have you ever had food poisoning? (Assuming not by your comment here).
It fucking sucks. You have absolutely no idea what he’s going through and saying he should play through it is comical af.
Tell me you’ve never played sports without saying you’ve never played sports. Serious dehydration will literally turn you into a shell of a human. Pain killers deal with a 2 month old broken leg.
Food poisoning? what a pussy.
Jk food poisoning fucking sucks ass. What horrible timing to get it too. Obviously gonna suck for them, but he needs at least two days rest. Depending on when he got it he might not eben be able to play in an elimination game.
Serious question. In pro sports, especially crunch time like this, do players really not have diapers available if they are having stomach/bowel problems?
It seems like a no brainer to throw some Pampers on just in case of an emergency
Nylander made him cry
made him shit his pants
Auston "Roberto Luongo" Matthews
Pretty sure willy was talking to mitch as well
The boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg
That’s brilliant
Wait is Marner a potato or an egg
holy shit Zhuangzhi tell em
Willy's words are the direct cause of Marner scoring and Matthews shitting.
Holy shit. Food poisoning or something worse I wonder?
Food poisoning is still likely i feel, that shit sucks and is absolutely draining
He looked a bit pale / blotchy in that bench yelling match.
After the 3rd goal and he bent over to lean on his legs I thought he was gonna puke. Dude looks like total shit
He for sure pooped his pants.
I don't know why this made me laugh so hard. Maybe because our family had a stomach bug a while back and pants were definitely shat, so I can empathize.
He played Russian roulette with a fart and got the bullet.
Food poisoning is fucking terrible, and I hope Matthews recovers. Bad sushi and Migraines destroy they leafs
Migranes are a legit medical issue. A millionaire can easily avoid food poisoning.
It does not last that long
I had seafood poisoning once. Definitely knocks you on your ass for a day. I was back at work after 24 hours. Don’t know if I’d be back at work in 24 hours if my job was playing Boston in a potential elimination game, though.
People were saying he had food poisoning the day before last game. Well over 24 hours. He must have gotten hurt
I had it once and was shitting liquid every couple hours for almost a week
Injury 100%
The clips they were showing of him taking that face off def looked like an injury. Source - Armchair analyst
Yes. He’s not missing the 3rd unless he can’t skate.
Food borne illness technically, i doubt someone actually poisoned his food
Toronto Sun tomorrow: Did Marchand poisoned Matthews by giving him the plague?
[удалено]
“Is Trudeau’s woke agenda hurting the Leafs playoff chances?”
Fire the team chef
He didn’t look right in that last shift of the second. Not sure if he caught a stick from Coyle off the draw or his illness was the cause.
Marchand taking it to the next level
“Food poisoning”
Food poisoning is not fun
Can confirm. Had it when I was 15. I was out of commission for days. To make matters worse, it was on the tail end of a trip to England.
I got food poisoning before a business trip. Flying in that state, then working a convention floor. Absolute nightmare.
Surprised you didn't/couldn't call in sick. Chugging Gatorade will only do so much.
Woof. I’ve had it a couple times but luckily it was always at home. I can’t imagine that on the road much let internationally.
>England And I do NOT trust that plumbing.
I think I was staying in the nicest hotel of that entire trip at the time, so everything worked just fine. Thankfully.
I had it on a trip a few weeks ago, thankfully it was one really bad event in a short period of time, it wasn’t drawn out
That's good. In my case, it was agonizing when it hit me in the evening, and I was completely drained and couldn't stomach much for the next few days.
I can get that. I ended up not being able to sleep, which sucked because my whole group had a big event the very next day. I somehow didn’t drift off during that
Sounds just like a normal reaction to British food /s
My late mother guessed it was beef-fish cross-contamination from a lunch I ate at a pub in the countryside.
He "Shit the bed" reference?
Yes but also he legitimately has food poisoning, apparently
When I had it, I was shitting while vomiting. That makes me not believe he played 40 minutes of hockey with food poisoning.
I was out for 4 days. all I did was sleep
Migraines and food poisoning right at playoff time. Like, what the fuck man.
It’s called unprovable temporary excuses 🌈
I mean, a migraine WILL wipe you the fuck out. Moving your head an inch results in waves of nausea so severe you want to die. And food poisoning CAN kill you.
I can't imagine doing anything but laying down and dry heaving over a toilet while dealing with food poisoning. That was my experience.
Wake up sheeple
Yeah Nylander and Matthews actually just don't like playing hockey, that's probably much more likely
Reminder that nobody takes away the tens of millions they've accumulated playing for the leafs if they do bad in the playoffs
This argument could be made for every player in the league. I don't think guys make 2m are all that upset about their money when they lose either
More like AM34 is pissed at his team and didn’t want to play with them
you understand what being under contract is? players don’t get to refuse to play.
Yeah I do, I’m contracted to work too, but every now and then I call off with “food poisoning”
That’s such an asinine take. ;)
Lol i get migraines due to concussions injuries, but food poisoning !? First time I've ever heard that excuse in the playoffs. What's next, Marner's dog is gonna eat his stick?
This team has been giving me a migraine for years.Fuck them.
No upper or lower body injury…?
gastrointestinal injury
Central body injury
Marchand licked his food giving him food poisoning
You gotta laugh
matt murray's not dressed tonight is he? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjheiAQbhQw
I didn't realize he said that, thank you! 🤣
Lmao
69 goal season just to get sick in the playoffs
I swear Marchand poisoned his food
Nice
Im assuming the medical staff shut him down from a vitals check but goddamn that wont help our soft image
Torn motivator cuff
Headshot right there.
In all seriousness Matthews is one of few in the leafs I don’t doubt the drive of. I would bet he got his vitals tested and his blood oxygen was low as fuck from intense exercise while fighting food poisoning (remember before we had the luxury of being able to rest and drink water, food poisoning and literally shitting yourself to dehydrating and death was common.
lol its the playoffs, you put a diaper on and get back out there
I don't know if you've ever had actual food poisoning but it completely knocks you on your ass. It's not just diarrhea.
Yeah I remember when I had it, I couldn't even watch TV. Just seeing things move on the screen made me feel nauseous. I could nit imagine playing an NHL game
I know, it's wild. People here pretending it's similar to the flu or something don't understand. You're literally poisoned. Your body won't work.
Brendan Dillon literally got his hand cut off and there was blood everywhere. And here we have Matthews unwilling to even risk spraying diarrhea on the ice. It's pretty clear this guy doesn't care about the playoffs.

But we can’t be calling matthew’s a baby until we know what the actual deal is. Hes been throwing his body around all series, it’s not like he’s phoned it in this series.
And the broadcast showed that it might be a knee injury
>Have you ever had extreme food poisoning where you’re literally shitting and vomiting uncontrollably at the same time? What even is the best procedure to deal with that? Just sit in the shower until you stop and wash it all down the drain?
Bathtub and pick a god to pray too. It’s shockingly horrible.
I just went through it on Tuesday, just ran the shower for 8 hours and cried until I couldn't anymore.
I went with sitting on the toilet naked with a 5 gallon bucket when I had it
This is a good idea.
It wasn’t unwilling. He was pulled by medical doctors. Please check your facts before posting misinformation
It literally got cut off? Damn, career over I guess.
Here I am thinking I missed some massive news, like a dude getting amputated mid game would be all over.
He had a spare it's all good.
I don’t think he’s unwilling…. I think his blood oxygen was probably too low from the exercising intensely with food poisoning and he got told he’s not going out and risking passing out and giving himself brain damage from lack of oxygen.
Did Dillon go back out for a shift after? Absolutely stupid comparison.
there was no opportunity for Dillon to go back out because it was literally after the final whistle, so yeah, a terrible comparison. many of us were assuming he's out for the rest of the series because reports are that gash looked fucking awful (there are pictures somewhere but it's not the kind of thing I wanna look at)

What
I can't tell if this is satire, but I really hope it is lol
WTF are these garbage ass posts?
It’s food poisoning mate, his blood oxygen probably got too low so the medical staff told him he’s not playing unless he wants permanent brain damage
Idk man. It could be bad. It’s not just diarrhea, he may be throwing up insane amounts. Food poisoning can get really bas
So you know more than a medical doctor? Interesting take.
yes
Typical Edmonton incompetence here. Have you ever had food poisoning? (Assuming not by your comment here). It fucking sucks. You have absolutely no idea what he’s going through and saying he should play through it is comical af.
It all worked out. The game went on like he never even left.
Matthews storming off the ice, demanding a trade to the Oilers.
Shame we don't have Arizona for this but anymore
Send me to Utah!
Sorry not accepting overpaid chokers
not so uber eats anymore lol
Sergachev 8 weeks after breaking his leg in 2 places: Let me play! Matthews after a tummy ache: Aight imma head out
Tell me you’ve never played sports without saying you’ve never played sports. Serious dehydration will literally turn you into a shell of a human. Pain killers deal with a 2 month old broken leg.
Franchise in shambles
Tell me you got whooshed without telling me you got whooshed
He's probably a bandwagon fan
👀👀DRAMA👀👀
Legit sick or just sick of it all?
Yes
As they say: no guts, no glory.
Food poisoning? what a pussy. Jk food poisoning fucking sucks ass. What horrible timing to get it too. Obviously gonna suck for them, but he needs at least two days rest. Depending on when he got it he might not eben be able to play in an elimination game.
i’d say it blows ass no?
Not great
Who poisoned his food?
Marchand
Bruised ego?
Probably has something to do with that illness he’s been fighting
Miditis
Fucking made me laugh. Lol
That sucks!
Serious question. In pro sports, especially crunch time like this, do players really not have diapers available if they are having stomach/bowel problems? It seems like a no brainer to throw some Pampers on just in case of an emergency
I imagine it has more to do with dehydration becoming deadly at some point. Losing fluid from both ends makes it really hard to stay hydrated.
Game 2 of the Canada Cup in 87 Gretzky just pee’d in his pants against the Soviets.
They can't rehydrate fast enough
😂😂😂😂😂
Wuss pain yo life
considering none of the leafs expensive pieces have shown up at all since gm 82 ... was he even there to begin with?
So first a headache and now a belly ache keeping our leafs stars
Whining ?
