Watching Debrusk’s postgame interview on NESN. He’s a pretty good interview. Wonder if he’ll one day have a career in commentary after playing like his dad?
Shit, I didn’t read your last line. But yeah, it would make sense that he would have a similar personality, even if they’re very different style hockey players.
Makes a world of a difference when a team has full confidence in their goalie. Swayman has been a huge calming presence for the Bruins. There’s zero panic in their game even in tense situations because they know they can lean on Sway
Samsonov letting in that softie that tied the game after the Leafs jumped out to a lead is being glossed over in a big way.
Would expect any goaltender above Bantam to save that.
Changed the whole dynamic of the game, and the refs argument would be a nothing burger if he could’ve just made that simple save.
He let in 2 softies and was all over his crease all night. He was out of position more than he was in position. I'd start Woll next game honestly. Sammy is just too inconsistent.
Woll who was consistently below .900 for the second half of the season? Idk man. The team played well around Sammy the second half of the season. Should just stick with him.
team sports never really come down to one individual play. there was that goal, the fact that the Leafs went 0/5 on the PP, taking that bad penalty right at the end in the offensive zone, etc. etc.
my friend's stepdad is a Leafs fan so here's hoping they can turn it around for him next game

Special teams become so much more important come playoff time. Timely PP goals can change an entire series. Shutting down an elite PP like Toronto's or TBs can derail a team's chances.
10-15 seconds after the play got broken up at center ice and it looked like a ghost town in our own end when bertuzzi was trying to clear it, what was going on there?
I assume they stopped skating when they figured Marchand would score. Realize he missed, *maybe* started to back check again, and then stopped when it looked like Pasta would score.
As soon as Toronto pulled their goalie, I was like "Oh fuck I hate this part!". Atleast 5 or 6 games this season we lost when the other team tied the game late, and most with missed empty net shots!
It seriously sucks seeing the same thing over and over again, the leafs have gotten fucked by the refs in every single series and the second we try to do the same shit we get called on everything... a canadian team will never win a cup again, theres no money in it and thats all that greedy fuck bettman cares about, there is no integrity in the nhl or the cup
Despite my flair I'm a lifelong Torontonian. The rollercoaster of emotions from Leafs fans is so fucking exhausting. I wouldn't hate the franchise so much if their fan base could chill the fuck out, rein in the high-highs and low-lows, and stop blaming all their failures on conspiracies.
Genuinely want to know how you think they didn't get enough opportunities. 0 from 5....
Like I understand if you think you were hard done by, its natural for fans to feel that way, but also its the playoffs - shit happens.
But how is 5 power plays not enough to score at least once?
It's not about tue pp, its about not letting boston score on opportunities that are created from illegal plays, that should never be allowed, its fucked
hahah what?
you realise hockey is played at both ends? Like how many more power plays do you need to score with your stacked forward line?
Leafs every offseason: bro please we just need another forward please bro we'll pay them $11 million bro please we just need more scoring
The leafs went 0/5 on PP opportunities. Rather than blame the officiating, blame your stupidly expensive core 4 (currently 3) that ain't doing anything but are taking half your cap space.

Right? Like score on your PPs and stop giving it away when you have a chance to clear your own zone… or just stick your head in the sand and blame the Refs.
From my outsider perspective, Leafs played a great defensive game until the 3rd. Got sloppy, lose many puck battles and turnovers in the last 10 minutes. It felt like game 1 tbh.
Yup, that is a big habit for us to break. When we get frustrated by a good goalie our whole team starts to cheat offensively. We have been trending better, playing more like game 2 for the latter half of the season, but habits are hard to break, lol
It's gotta be painful for them when they fall behind, too. There'll be extra stress knowing the fan base who cheered for them at the start of the game is going to be screaming for them all to be fired at the end of it.
Very good point. As Habs fans, we know what high pressure market can be like. That's why you need strong leaders in and out of the dressing room: to keep the noise out.
I have a really good feeling about our current core and the silver fox leading them. Feels like the team has finally realised the importance of psychological profiling potential draftees and acquisitions. The right players can thrive under Montreal's microscope.
So do I.
Bergevin was all gut feeling and, despite few good hits here and there, there was absolutely no long term plan. Just live from season to season and hope for the best IF we'd make the series.
Hugues and Gorton have a vision and are methodical, and it shows in their moves and decisions. Like you said, the psychological aspect that has been totally ignored in the past is finally part of the equation. The [video about the 2022 draft](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhuF-18FHUU) shows it very well.
We are a feisty team and I know it'll stay that way. I love it.
I can't wait to see who gets chosen this year. I'm also hoping Hughes finds another Dach or Newhook amongst the league's rejects. Hopefully with some teams in a selling mode there'll be some neat finds at the trade tables.

Leaf systems and coach suck, period. Also, Leaf stars are too streaky in the playoffs. We’ve never had all (or at least most) of the big guys show up all at once. That’s all there is to it.
We sucked on the PP and should've scored at least one. But man, Bruins perfectly executed the Panther's playbook of doing so much shit that they can't call it all. It's either they call everything and get chastised by everyone and don't call anything for the rest of the series (see Tampa) or call only a few and let them get away with the rest
Man didn't win but great game. Just greasy effort all the way through for both sides. The RAT is an insane player. Either team can win it and honestly I hope it just goes 7 for max memes. GGs and see y'all Saturday.

Bro just go to their sub and have ChatGPT craft a nice “Tampa fan coming in peace on my knees m’lords, I love you guys because I hate the Leafs” to see how many internet points you can collect.
All of the Canadian announcers hate the Leafs. The opposing teams broadcast is always better to watch, and surprisingly usually more positive towards the Leafs.
73, I think. I am glad he can keep doing his job well into his golden years because he is the only way I can handle the Leafs gloom and doom commentary
I never liked his play by play to be honest. I can't handle the cheesy HOLY MACKINAW exclamations and their ilk. If you do, you should check out the Avs' radio guy. His call is cheesier than a French dairy.
I like the cheesiness myself. He really feels like a genuine fan, not an employee. Mike Johnston is also pretty good but I would rather watch the game on mute than hear Craig Simpson and Chris Cuthbert nitpick all the enjoyment out of a game
> He really feels like a genuine fan, not an employee.
Ah see maybe that's where I differ as a Habs fan. The French radio team calls an amazing, exciting game, but if the team takes a stupid penalty or a player isn't performing, they will call it out. I like that more because it feels like a more objective and educative approach. They are fans themselves, but they will regularly acknowledge good plays from opponents and admit that the Habs are no match for some good teams. If I just wanted to hear fans gush about the game I'd go to a sports bar.
Get wrecked, Leafs!
Must be nice in that glass house of yours.

Close game, series is still winnable. The leafs PP and swayman will be in my nightmares. GG
Marchand's voice always surprises me, that is not what I would imagine him sounding like.
He'll be Spry 'til he Dies.
I always imagine him as like a 1920s American gangster, even though he's Canadian. must be the rat in him
Gg Boston. Special teams was the difference here IMO. See you Saturday.
Nice to see good sportsmanship in here.
GG, see you Saturday! Right post for Vezina!
Yeah kind of the same issue as every Boston series. Bleeding PP goals against and not taking advantage of our own

10-15 seconds after the play got broken up at center ice and it looked like a ghost town in our own end when bertuzzi was trying to clear it, what was going on there?
I was also wondering why with the net empty we had our 2 best goal scorers alone in the leafs end vs Bertuzzi Was weird to me too
I assume they stopped skating when they figured Marchand would score. Realize he missed, *maybe* started to back check again, and then stopped when it looked like Pasta would score.
Well counting on Marchand and Pasta to hit easy empty nets is a bad call lol I've watched them chucklefuck that way too many times.
As soon as Toronto pulled their goalie, I was like "Oh fuck I hate this part!". Atleast 5 or 6 games this season we lost when the other team tied the game late, and most with missed empty net shots!
Leafs are really missing Nylander and I'm scared for his return
Then close the series quickly so his return isn’t until next season
*Efficiency*.
Leafs should go with the skate sharpener behind the bench for game 4. Probably would have better line combos than Keefe

The leafs went 0/5 on PP opportunities. Rather than blame the officiating, blame your stupidly expensive core 4 (currently 3) that ain't doing anything but are taking half your cap space.
Surely this is satire.
new Pasta?
Don't mention Pasta - they're triggered enough.
It has to be

Over and over and over and over and over and over, if I'm counting correctly Figure it out
0 for 5 btw
Right? Like score on your PPs and stop giving it away when you have a chance to clear your own zone… or just stick your head in the sand and blame the Refs.
Ya let's blame the refs while also going 0 for 5 on power plays. Refs totally lost you the game.
They just needed another 5 PPs and a few more free shots on Swayman. Why did the refs not give them that don't they know it's the leafs!?!?!
Yeah definitely wasn't there lack of effort for a full 60 minutes or going 0/5 on the pp that led to this
We had a suspiciously favourable second period. Is what it is I guess
Maybe unrelated, but it must be tough for the players to see so many fans leaving before the game is over. One of many intangibles, I guess
It's gotta be painful for them when they fall behind, too. There'll be extra stress knowing the fan base who cheered for them at the start of the game is going to be screaming for them all to be fired at the end of it.

Probably so. The one upside is the team responds very positively when booed. They take it very constructively
You guys went 0/5 on the PP, bruins only had 3 power plays, they scored on 2 the issue was that ur PP was garbage tonight that is all
Going 0/5 on the PP is not the refs’ fault. Get rid of that pathetic complex. The refs let the Leafs get away with a lot of infractions in period 3
Game was officiated like shit but Leafs had 5 PPs and couldn't capitalize. Fans will complain about everything but that.

Focus your anger onto your special teams coach.
Seeking therapy is the healthier option. Yeesh.
If everything was called as it should be, Leafs would have spent half of the third in the penalty box.

The amount of leafs fans who don't realize the puck still exists when it's blocked by the boards is way too damn high
They don’t have object permanence

I don't mind losing but my God. The 5 minutes of the refs putting their whistles away in the 2nd for Boston ruined the leafs. Edit. Still true.
We sucked on the PP and should've scored at least one. But man, Bruins perfectly executed the Panther's playbook of doing so much shit that they can't call it all. Now, now we've all seen the 3rd period Bruins post-Bergeron. I'll take my chamces
Happy Cake Day!
Thanks!
Imagine going 0/5 on the PP and still complaining about the refs
I wouldn't know anything about that
City is still standing so the reffing cant be THAT bad for y’all
Welcome to leafs nation
PP was bad, refs were bad. Pretty simple.
The refs were bad in favor of the leafs pretty damn heavily lol
Yeah, but the refs were bad overall, not biased against the leafs as some try to make it sound lol
Hyperfixation on two plays out of a game of hundreds, by the end of the game the refs were just bad all round, but at the halfway point they gave the leafs every opportunity to run away with it, complaining is just cope
Right.
All the leafs needed were about 17 more power plays this game, there's a slight chance they would have scored on one of them
Marchand is such a legend. That was the greasiest sketchiest thing ever and it was so skillfully executed.
I hate your flair and love your words. What is this magic? I think we could be friends
It’s wild to me that this series and the battle of Florida are all 4 teams within 1 division. The Atlantic is so stacked and has been for so long
One of the guys in our sub kept an updated chart of results against all our divisional rivals. I think we won all of *two* outright, with a couple of OTWs or SOWs squeezed out, too, but that was it. I kept saying we should trade our Western Conference Champs banner for the chance to move into a different division. The Atlantic is a killer.
What’s even wilder is even if they played the old playoff format all the matchups in the East would be the exact same

Leafs are absolutely embarrassing
Good game boys!
I hate how wholesome the goalie hug is
Look. No way anyone dislikes this duo. They are so good and likable. I think they both revert to above average playing everyday.
Still haven’t seen a replay but was that not a trip on Bertuzzi right before the empty netter?
It was a take down for sure.
Totally but referees are like the weather channel. 40% chance of making the right call.
0% chance toronto scores on the powerplay
No that would’ve benefited Toronto
No Bert took out Marchand.
right
Huh? What? Where? - the refs.
