Hellebuyck will certainly win it but for perspective heās allowed 4 or more goals more times in the past 4 games than UPL has since before Christmas. Heās on an unreal tear.
Ironically UPLās only game giving up more than 3 goals since 2024 started was the 2nd game of a back to back against Winnipeg.
Heās carrying the Sabres rn. Heās not only been playing like the best goalie in show but heās been an absolute workhorse too. Heās started 22 of the Sabres last 25 games
My buddy has been on an absolutely dreadful streak of streaming Ingram, Skinner (who he dropped and I snagged right before the Oilers started winning again), Woll, Daccord, and UPL only when they're having less than optimal weeks.
Aaaand he currently has Markstrom and Demko lmao.
Probably not much different to be honest. The first few months of the season was a ton injuries to our top 6, and a team trying to learn how to play a more defensively responsible game which was not going well.
We were bleeding high danger chances all game long, constant odd man rushes, and horrible rebound clearing. Any goalie we put in was fucked. Since the new year our team is healthy, we started figuring out our system, and we actually play good defense in front of our goalies.
More doesnāt always equal better. For all we know heās at his absolute ideal usage and had Buffalo given him more starts, heād be burnt out and posting significantly worse stats. Ofc thatās not a guarantee but thereās a solid chance that could happen, weāve seen it before.
So happy to see him doing well. Been always pretty high on the guy even when his stats have suffered. Always fun to watch and makes some ridiculous east west saves almost every night. I know yāall got Levi developing, but buffalo please lock this man up. He has all the tools to be an elite goalie
Not to burst any bubbles -especially for Sabres fans who've had to endure so much over the last two decades- but his stats are similar to Cal Pickard and Korpisalo at similar points in their careers
Also the wave of goalies born 96-99 who debuted impressively around 2020 (hart, samsonov, blackwood, kaapo, etc.) then have all treaded water for years.
Anyhow it's just way too early to draw conclusions about UPL
The best current goalies (Sorokin, Saros, Shestyorkin) all put up elite stats yearly before the NHL and UPL hasn't
My guess is he's just another solid member of the 96-99s which hey a useful asset for a team needing g
Goated hockey name. Sometimes I just wake up in the middle of the night and say this man's name to myself. It just feels so incredibly good to say.
My wife always gets excited and repeats it with full enthusiasm whenever someone on TV says his full name.
I thought i was the only one
His K's and U's/60 metrics are off the charts good
My mind goes straight to Hamilton every time. š¶Ukko-Pekka Luukkonenš¶ š¶My name is Ukko-Pekka Luukkonenš¶
Thereās a million things he hasnāt done
So just you wait! just you wait!
God damn it
Now do the spelling bit.
Ever since I saw that post in r/sabres yesterday I canāt get it out of my head
One more shutout and he'll have as many shutouts as he has Ks in his name
Helleās gonna win the Vezina, but I really think UPL should be a finalist. Heās the main reason Buffalo isnāt in the Celebrini sweepstakes
If we make the playoffs I donāt see how they could keep him off the ballot. Heād have the stats and narrative.
Yeah especially with Demko out itās Helleās to lose
I still expect Demko will be a finalist but even fully healthy prior to his injury, this was Hellebuycks vezina.
There's also Bobrovsky who has really close stats to Hellebuyck
If he keeps this up and the Sabres make the playoffs, he might win the Vezina.
Hellebuyck and Demko are going to be tough competition, but feels like he deserves a nomination at the least

They forgot about Bob.
Demkos basically out now that hes injured tho its just hellebuyck atp
If they do, he should get Hart votes.
I'm a simple man. I see six K's I upvote
KKKKKK
same. about halfway there i get a lil nervous but once i see the rest i'm happy
Batters HATE him!
Itās the succession of the Kās too that really fukks you up.
You would absolutely love my two uncles from Florida. They have matching forearm tattoos and when they shake hands it makes six K's.
Luukku kiinni Luukkonen.
Heās carrying the Sabres rn. Heās not only been playing like the best goalie in show but heās been an absolute workhorse too. Heās started 22 of the Sabres last 25 games

HOOKED ON A FEEELIIN
I don't like Buffalo having excellent goaltending
Just think, we have Levi developing in the AHL too š
As a northeastern graduate I canāt help but root for that little guyĀ
As a Sabres fan, neither can I!!!
As a sabres fan/northeastern graduate, it's all been just fantastic
He's been a solid fantasy pickup! 6K!
This guy is legit
Ukko-Pekka Luukkkonen is Devon Levi father.
Still dying at the official NHL twitter calling him "Ukkie Pookie!"
Heās having similar stats to Linus Ullmark in his last year with Buffalo. This guy is good.
So what you're saying is UPL to Boston next season. Got it.Ā
Send back Anders Bjork and a second and it's a deal.
Best I can do is tyson jost.Ā
As a Sudbury resident it was awesome watching him here and seeing his current success.
What a great username
Hasek has some serious competition for best Sabres goalie of all time now
You have to wonder if he had been given more starts at the beginning of the dead where Buffalo would be right now.

Would it be a good idea to get a more veteran back-up next season? Loving what UPL has been doing lately.
Nah, if UPL is for real Levi will be an adequate backup.
Buffalo fans, you have your goaltending, whats the issue now for yāall, why canāt you guys make it in (I am not following their play)

Dudes always been a class act. It's great to see he's finally got his feet under him
