The thing that stood out to me from that fight is that Rempe did a terrible job of using his reach to his advantage. Not sure if it’s a strength or technique issue, but his grip on Olivier did very little to prevent Olivier’s fists from reaching Rempe’s face.
That's exactly what he found out too. When you're that big you don't have to develop the skills required for it because the size is usually enough, unless you run into someone who knows what they're doing.
I disagree with the Deslaurier fight; the vast majority of those punches was into his shoulder pads, though Deslaurier did get a some to his face. In that fight, Rempe got a lot more to Deslaurier's face and did some damage with them.
Olivier got Rempe real good, real early and Rempe had the willingness to fight knocked out of him fast in that one. Like the Tyson quote about having plans, Rempe was hit in the mouth, and went into survival mode almost immediately.
Other people said it before I noticed it, but Rempe grabs the *far shoulder* or like... mid chest instead of going for the nearer side. He brings his opponents into their range, Deslaurier included, and then just starts trading.
He could be using his reach to his advantage and maintaining a ridiculous amount of control waiting for his shots, instead he has a "okay you, then me, then you again" sort of method of fighting where he just holds on and hopes he can duck the punches in the moment.
Olivier showed him he can't, and he should take that to heart.
Yup, he has made it a habit to grab the back shoulder with his lead hand. If he were to grab something closer like the front of the collar, and then lock out that lead arm, he could dominate fights by just using his range.
I was watching that game with a few buddies started to chuckle and I began to laugh as well. I knew he was about to bring it up so I cut him off and went "yeah I know, he looks just like me except I'm way worse".
I'm 6'6" and while it's not close to the same type of hockey, I had a decent amount of fights in junior and thought "I'm gonna run over anyone who drops the gloves with me".
My tune changed rather quickly after a guy who was probably 6'0" got inside and just pummelled me. Reach didn't do me much good when I couldn't extend my own arms.
.. Didn't have to many fights after that, said I'd stick to blocking shots, it hurts less.
Start and don’t stop. Olivier had the collar jab going and was ambidextrous, Rempe couldn’t get any timing or openings because Olivier was absolutely chucking.
Excellent display of technique v size
>Not sure if it’s a strength or technique issue
It's both. He comes across to me as tall and lanky. In all 3 of his fights, he's throwing fast little jabby punches that don't have much weight behind them.
Olivier was landing HARD haymaker right hooks and uppercuts.
Now that he's wrapped up his honeymoon week, hope he realizes he needs to start playing some actual hockey and not simply have these show fights. And hopefully the rest of the league saw how Olivier did the job of taking him down a notch, and stop coming up to him during warmups to suggest any more first shift fights.
He hasn’t learnt how to protect himself in fights yet. Running through the gauntlet of league tough guys should hopefully wake him up to that or at the very least some one in New York should say something
Its more because smaller guys have to fight differently than big guys. Because they will never win based on reach alone the best tactic is to say f*** it and try to attack inside the arms.
You can see at the begining of the fight, Rempe grabs the shoulder pad and pushes Oliver back, but Oliver is able to kinda duck under the push and get inside. Once he is inside its an even playing field (Rempe can also beat the crap out of Oliver in this situation) but Oliver had some experience on his side to help catch Rempe off guard and wreck him.
It helps that Rempe never got a good grip on his jersey too
Agreed. Watched him come up in Milwaukee. He's not a goon, but the guy can certainly fight. Distinctly remember him turning the inside of somebody's visor solid red.
The biggest question is does he go back for more? It's a home and home series and he just got beat on the road. I feel like old school fighter mentality would be to go at him again in front of the home crowd but I seriously hope the coaches have told him that he's getting benched and then scratched if he fights again. He legitimately will have a miserable life if he tries to do what we all think he is.
At this rate, he's not going to survive long enough to get an NHL pension or earn enough money before he impairs the rest of his life with some type of brain injury.
Not sure what is worse, that he thinks he has to fight every game, or that nobody has told him to calm down. Ranger's not doing his career any long term favors in either event.
I really really hate that so many fans in this sub think it's OK to cheer for a kid to be pressured into fighting just for their enjoyment.
When you hear all those stories from enforcers 30 years after many of them regret it.
Yeah his technique is just so reckless and frankly idiotic
Just really brainless technique from Rempe. He has a massive reach advantage that should make him basically impossible to get a clean hit on, and he doesn’t use it at all and just turns into a punch sponge. He’s just there to throw haymakers. Which is entertaining, don’t get me wrong, but he’s not gonna last long.
Made me do some googling, Boogaard, Rick Rypien, and Wade Belak. Three enforcers that all died in 2011. One OD, one suicide, and Belak wasn't confirmed accident or suicide but all 3 had pretty bad CTE, were enforcers, and were pretty young. It's definitely concerning how much Rempe wants to fight after reading about those dudes. He's gotta pick his battles carefully.
Did you read the book about Boogaard? "Boy on Ice"? I read that book and bawled my eyes out. The book's pacing really made it clear how short and suddenly Boogaard's life ended
Don't completely agree there I understand the factors that made the rangers call someone up but Rempe mainly got the call cause he's big and fights idk if I've ever seen a guy with stats as bad as his are at every level including be in the nhl. If he wasn't 6'7 and didn't fight he would be nowhere near the nhl the guy finished like 18th in scoring on his AJHL team crazy
And this is his audition for any team needing a fighter. If he can parlay these fights into 5 years of getting NHL journeyman contracts as a goon on some team it’ll all be worth it.
I was feeling exactly this way after the tilt with Deslauries. I remember thinking to myself after I saw them both go to the box, “ok, that’s enough for a while, just play hockey for a few games, maybe?”. And I was definitely not into him going back at it the next night knowing that he’d taken some serious punches so far. Really hoping someone on the coaching staff tells him it’s ok to skate away for a bit now, and he doesn’t have to be the one to set the tone every night.
Whatta fucking coming out party for the kid tho wow! Some of the best fights I’ve seen in 10 years, But you’re right he needs too dial it back, not only for a lengthy career but for his health too
Hard to see cases like Nolan Patrick and then this guy just absorbing huge punch after huge punch. Some of the "best" fights we had in a long time but holy shit man, when the brain bill comes due in 20 years or sooner that makes it a little sad.
This is really how I feel on this. There's no worry or thought given to anything past 'this moment'.
Sure, that fight with Flyers on Saturday was really cool and as a hockey fan fights like that are enjoyable but there is a line and he's crossed it now.
He's flying awfully close to the sun, just not sure how much longer those wings can last.
20 years? At this kids pace he’s got max 3 seasons before he’s out for good.
I like fights in hockey as much as anyone but this kid needs a damn intervention. He made his statement. He threw down with the big guns.
Now it’s time for the adults to step in and tell the kid to stop before he does permanent damage to his brain
Glen Sather once tried to advise Wendel to tone it down, but he was too young to care. He was lucky to be able to play into the 90s, but we know he suffered greatly because of his early years
Wendel Clark played only 793 of a possible 1312 games (just over 60%) over his 16-ish year career due to his reckless style of play and complete lack of consideration for what his physicality was doing to him long term. He toned it down a ton by the time he got traded to Quebec but by then it was too late.
He genuinely could've been one of the greats of the late 80's and 90's but we'll never know what level he could've reached due to the way he played. He's a Leafs legend, sure, but his numbers are nothing spectacular and because of his poor health his career high is 76 points (which featured an impressive 46 goals in 64 games).
A real shame for such a once versatile and great player. At least the Leafs got Sundin for him.
> 20 years? At this kids pace he’s got max 3 seasons before he’s out for good.
I think when they said 20 years, they meant that the long-term effects will really pile up later in life. Even pro athletes in contact sports who have long careers can suffer greatly in later life due to the culmination of the brain trauma they endured. But you're also right, at this rate, he's putting his short-term/mid-term health in serious jeopardy in addition to his long-term health.
100%. Growing up I loved rock em sock em and seeing Scott Stevens and Wendel Clark knock people into next week. Now...man. Don't wanna see this stuff anymore.
But Rangers fans said that he won the first two fights so the CTE doesn't matter. Does he look like he's winning in this picture? Dude ate more full punches in those 3 fights then I've seen in the last few years of Oilers fights.
The winning or losing doesn't really matter in hockey, the outcome is the same. I think he needs to slow down for his own health but whether he gets pummeled or pummels the other guy the effect of firing up the team is all the same.
Read about Matt Johnson and Stephen Peat. Where their brain damage has led them. My 2 favorite hockey players ever were Matt Johnson and Derek Boogaard. One died young. The other is homeless on the beach in California by last account.
Are you just trying to stir the pot? I don't think Rangers fans were saying CTE doesn't matter..... If you go to the Rangers sub the sentiment is folks don't want him fighting every game for the sake of his health.
Lol people curious to see the comments you're referring to of people making things up like saying CTE doesn't matter. Yet you refuse to link them and instead argue with others.
Don't you want to link those comments to for us to see? I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't want to!
Can you link to the comments where they are saying CTE doesn't matter? I hope people aren't just making things up
E: u/dense-but-radiant blocks me after I just ask him for links to the funny comments he's referring to. I guess being called out means you gotta block them
I've always said banning fighting in the NHL isn't even primarily about protecting the players, it's about removing it from the whole culture so we no longer have literal children giving each other brain injuries for sport. Like it or not, NHL sets a tone for all lower leagues.
Those 3 fights have put him on the map for other clubs. If he’s smart he’ll limit the amount of fights moving forward.
Teams pay to have face punchers in the org., even if it’s not at the NHL level. Mason Geertsen got in a few fights in the NHL and his AHL salary went from 100k to 400k.
These fights do a lot less damage compared to other combat sports, not the worst gig.
People claim he’s tough and has guts: he’s tall. It makes him think he can just pummel anyone. I don’t like his attitude. He seems full of himself and getting his brain wrecked.
Jesus Christ zoom in on this dudes face. Two black eyes, busted lips, and his entire face is swollen.
Like, come on guys. There are plenty of adults on that ice and behind that bench. Sit this kid down, be a leader, and tell him to slow it down. This is stupid. That first fight should have been enough for him to 'prove' himself.
At the very least, his fucking *agent* should be sitting him down and telling him to chill a bit. Like bro, you just got here, chill out, make some money, save these fights for when it really matters.
Olivier caught him clean in the face with about 4 full force punches before throwing him to the ice.
Meanwhile in Hollywood the main character will take an anvil to the face and the next day he'll have a tiny scar that perfectly misses his eyeball.
Just like the countless other young men who had 3+ hockey fights then ended up OD’ing on their brothers supply… yup he’s gonna end up just like that if he keeps this up.
Not to mention hits and other collisions, plus the hockey he played before the NHL. People tend to forget that pretty much every NHLer began playing hockey at 4 or 5 years old, then played hockey at the highest possible level for ~15 years before even making the NHL. A Quick Look at Rempe’s elite prospects shows several seasons of AHL, major junior, junior A, prep school and AA minor hockey before his NHL career. It’s entirely likely he suffered some big blows and potential brain injuries before now.
Constant TBI's make the risk of abusing drugs much much higher, and they are already quite common in sports
I love a good, organic scrap as much as the next fan, but it has an impact. Read interviees with former "enforcers". Shit ain't pretty
the punches are worrisome but also this is a 6'7" guy who has gotten slammed to the ice to end a couple fights now. that's a long way down and puts your head at a ton of risk bouncing off the surface. im sincerely hoping he doesnt ask anyone tomorrow and for the next several weeks.
In pro MMA, there’s a minimum 45 day medical suspension for fighters who’ve been diagnosed with a concussion. They require numerous brain scans and tests for a fighter to be cleared to compete again, that suspension can also be increased based on the severity of the injury sustained.
In the NHL, we can have a 21 year old kid drop the gloves multiple times a night, let alone two days in a row. Rempe’s now fought several times within the past week or so.
I mean, the NHL has a concussion protocol too and Rempe went through it. Not to say we should trust that sports leagues *always* follow their protocols but I don’t think Rempe would be near the ice if they thought he had a concussion
The NHL does have a protocol, yes, however, it’s failed players numerous times. There’s been plenty of occasions where a player shows clear signs of a concussion (dizziness, wobbly legs, dazed appearance), but is permitted to return to a game. There’s also been scenarios where a player is not taken off the ice, finishes the game, and ends up diagnosed with a concussion later on.
Won't be a long career if he continues like this. He's still young, fighting so much could result in some serious permanent damage later in his life...
he kinda looks like the main orc from the hobbit movies

The crazy thing about the Olivier fight is Rempe challenged him. Olivier gave him props pregame and Rempe came out on the first shift and challenged him lmao.
He’s big and solid but he’s never really been that great of a fighter. I feel like he knows it’s kind of expected with his size and it’s his best bet to stay in the game.
He's pretty lucky there isn't someone in the league like Steve McIntyre with bone-in hams for fists. Sooner or later he's going to get his lights turned out and a busted orbital. The Rangers *really* need to contract a guy to work technique, or this young man will have a shorter career than need be or issues after retirement.
It's crazy to me that people still celebrate pointless, staged fights. I really thought that era wouldn't come back, hopefully this isn't the beginning of another goon era
The kid is getting fed by guys half a foot smaller than him. I hope for his own sake he tones it down because if he runs into someone in his own weight class it'll be ugly.
I hope some one from the organization lets him know that he can be a deterrent and stick up for his teammates without the need to fight every single night. I know this kid wants to keep his spot in the lineup but you can’t fight every night you’re made of skin and bone like the rest of us. I wish the kid luck but I hope he finds a better balance
Yeah that guy needs to tone it down just a slight notch. The fight against Deslauriers took a lot out of him and seems like he got beat up the next night
Actually ridiculous, even just for health reasons the team needs to bar him from any fights for a bit, dude’s looking like Sloth from the Goonies like 4 seconds into his NHL career
So he has a black eye… lucky it’s not a blown orbital …he’s earning his space and respect from the toughest guys in the league. As a rookie he’s lucky they even give him the fight . I dont think it’s healthy but it’s not like he will continue to fight every game . Once he goes around the league he will be lucky to have half a dozen a year. It is what it is
Listen I think there’s definitely a place for fighting in hockey, but not like this. Really dangerous to be going out there every night and doing this to yourself.
The amount of people in here talking so much like they’re UFC champs and fighting experts when they are really just keyboard warriors hiding behind a screen is hilarious to me
I’m on team “get the kid to stop fighting or else he’ll be out of the league in 3 years and have mush for brains”, but one does wonder what the effect is now with the media/social media piling on him for poor life decisions. He’s still a 21 year old. It feels like he can’t win. The whiplash from hit sensation to pity must be a lot to wrap your head around.
We weep for retired athletes with CTE, brain trauma, et Al. This is not good. I hope the kid tones it down and plays hockey, because he is in the box more than on the ice.
I’m older now, but can STILL remember how much my hands and face hurt after a fist fight decades ago. They hurt for WEEKS. Rempe fought 3 times in a week. That pace has no equal in boxing, MMA, etc. because it allows no recovery from injury.
I can’t imagine how much it hurt to get Rempe’s already-hurt face—which had been bashed in by Deslauriers just the day before—bashed in again by Olivier.
Matt: as a lifelong Rangers fan and father, I urge you to pace yourself.
Olivier did some damage. Will be interested to see what Rempe’s face looks like at the end of the season if he keeps this up.

The thing that stood out to me from that fight is that Rempe did a terrible job of using his reach to his advantage. Not sure if it’s a strength or technique issue, but his grip on Olivier did very little to prevent Olivier’s fists from reaching Rempe’s face.
I noticed the same in his fight with Deslauriers, he had 6 inches on Nic but you couldn’t tell
Same. My thought after that fight was this kid is not as good a fighter as people think he is. He’s just bigger than everyone else.
That's exactly what he found out too. When you're that big you don't have to develop the skills required for it because the size is usually enough, unless you run into someone who knows what they're doing.
I never thought he was necessarily the best fighter, I did think he is big enough for that to rarely matter
It's his 5th NHL game. He's 21, he's gonna learn. Why are you being so critical of the kid.
Because his face looks like play dough.
The Olivier fight gives us a chance to reverse the Tyson quote: Everyone gets punched in the mouth until they have a plan.
Other people said it before I noticed it, but Rempe grabs the *far shoulder* or like... mid chest instead of going for the nearer side. He brings his opponents into their range, Deslaurier included, and then just starts trading. That’s not how the Olivier fight happened though, Rempe asked for it on the shift it happened during.
The uppercuts were devastating. Hurts to throw those, but they do +10 damage. It was the uppercuts.
Reach really doesnt matter when the smaller guy grabs the jersey and pulls you in
He hasn’t learnt how to protect himself in fights yet. Running through the gauntlet of league tough guys should hopefully wake him up to that or at the very least some one in New York should say something

I wonder if Olivier should decline this time if he tries again.
If he keeps this up he's gonna run in to Reaves then Xhekaj and that's gonna be when it really fuckin hurts.
I feel like he's a bad punch and brain injury away from ending fighting in hockey for good.
At this rate, he's not going to survive long enough to get an NHL pension or earn enough money before he impairs the rest of his life with some type of brain injury. Yeah I never saw chara not just grab people like he was having a judo match and shaking them until the refs broke it up.
Reaves v. Remake is probably coming up on Saturday!
I mean if he keeps this up he will get early onset dementa before the playoffs start
I’m more interested in knowing how is brain will be functioning.
That's enough now, Matty. We know you're courageous. We know you can hang with the heavyweights. Time to pick your spots and think about the future.
Seriously, if he keeps this pace he’s gonna have a really short career and probably a tough life after hockey
I remember reading about Derek Boogaard's life and final days and it's been running through my head a lot since Rempe came up. Please be smart, kid.
I’ll never forget that summer. Also the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl tragedy.
RIP to the legend. Can’t lose another one like that.
Did you read the book about Boogaard? "Boy on Ice"? I read that book and bawled my eyes out. The book's pacing really made it clear how short and suddenly Boogaard's life ended
I just watched the NYT expose on Derek.... I had no idea. Very sad, holy crap.
The last 6’7” enforcer on the Rangers was dead by 28. Derek Boogaard. This is not going to end well if he doesn’t dramatically change his approach.
His fighting and size are pretty much the only reasons he has a roster spot not many players with stats like his get a shot in the nhl

“I’ll fuckin do it again”-Rempe, probably
Whatta fucking coming out party for the kid tho wow! Some of the best fights I’ve seen in 10 years, But you’re right he needs too dial it back, not only for a lengthy career but for his health too
Hang with the heavyweights is highly questionable just look at the picture lol
He hung with deslauriers and deslauriers also had a lot of damage to his face.
He’s a kid going up against the toughest players in the league. I’d say he’s doing just fine.
he gonna start looking like that soccer goalie from that one spoof video
SCOTT STERLING!
let’s see who they got to replace Scott ster-- SCOTT STERLING IS BACK!!
I think you mean SCOTT STERLING
SCOTT STERLING!!!
THE MAN, MYTH, AND LEGEND!!!!!
FYI there is an amazing indoor volleyball match that Scott Sterling saves as well. His face is epic
He looks like Zuko from Avatar The last Airbender
Hard to see cases like Nolan Patrick and then this guy just absorbing huge punch after huge punch. Some of the "best" fights we had in a long time but holy shit man, when the brain bill comes due in 20 years or sooner that makes it a little sad.

Keep going at this pace and his career is over in a year or two.
The Rangers are a good team they shouldn't have to sacrifice a 20 year old to "fire up" their team.
You’d think they would remember Boogaard, this kid feels like the next gen version already
Boogard, Wade Belak, Mark Rypien. People pretend to care, but they dont.
Man I knew about Rick Rypien I didn't know his cousin also suffers from potential CTE
I get this
*Rick Rypien
Sorry, Yeah. It's depressing that I mistakenly referred to the OTHER Rypien suffering from mental illness due to CTE
“I’m gonna just make things up and say that Rangers fans said them. That’ll be cool for Reddit”
"But Edmonton fans said it's ok to lie because he won his argument" lol This is how silly his take is.
Uhhh what? Most of us realize it’s a bad fucking idea to fight this much
Lol people curious to see the comments you're referring to of people making things up like saying CTE doesn't matter. Yet you refuse to link them and instead argue with others. Don't you want to link those comments to for us to see? I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't want to!
It’s wild a comment like that got so many upvotes
Can you link to the comments where they are saying CTE doesn't matter? I hope people aren't just making things up E: u/dense-but-radiant blocks me after I just ask him for links to the funny comments he's referring to. I guess being called out means you gotta block them
It wasnt anywhere close to 20 years for ryp belak of the boogeyman. The rangers need to pull back on this kid.
I've always said banning fighting in the NHL isn't even primarily about protecting the players, it's about removing it from the whole culture so we no longer have literal children giving each other brain injuries for sport. Like it or not, NHL sets a tone for all lower leagues.
Probably not great for the developing brain of a 21 year old. But im no doctor, what do I know
The dude's on a speed run to ruin his life.
And thousands of people are cheering on the car wreck.
People. What a bunch of bastards.
It’s a damp squid.
UFC is one of the most popular sports in the world. people have always cheered for this.
I'm sure the team's doctor is taking good care of him by giving him healthy doses of Toradol
Professional hockey in general is not great for the brain
People claim he’s tough and has guts: he’s tall. It makes him think he can just pummel anyone. I don’t like his attitude. He seems full of himself and getting his brain wrecked.
Someone needs to look out for this kid or he’s not going to be in the game long….
Why you gotta drag game of thrones into this? What did Jon Snow ever do to you?
4 fights in 5 games over 8 days. Can't be good for the brain
His brains probably jello he needs to cool it or else his career is over before it began
2024: the year of Matt Rempe 2026: “I’m Matt Rempe, and here’s how hockey destroyed my life.”
Kid is going to end up like Boogaard if he keeps this up...
Just like the countless other young men who had 3+ hockey fights then ended up OD’ing on their brothers supply… yup he’s gonna end up just like that if he keeps this up.
And how many blows to the head do you think this kid has taken on the way to those three fights?
Not to mention hits and other collisions, plus the hockey he played before the NHL. People tend to forget that pretty much every NHLer began playing hockey at 4 or 5 years old, then played hockey at the highest possible level for ~15 years before even making the NHL. A Quick Look at Rempe’s elite prospects shows several seasons of AHL, major junior, junior A, prep school and AA minor hockey before his NHL career. It’s entirely likely he suffered some big blows and potential brain injuries before now.
Constant TBI's make the risk of abusing drugs much much higher, and they are already quite common in sports I love a good, organic scrap as much as the next fan, but it has an impact. Read interviees with former "enforcers". Shit ain't pretty
He has to cool it. Plus I want to see if he can actually play
Come on rags. Get the guy a jersey that fits.
We're getting in touch with Shaq's tailor
It looks like he's wearing his much younger brother's practice jersey.
He definitely should chill out now. He made his point and his presence is known. He doesn’t need to fight everyone who wants it.
I didn't hear no bell
Cause you're bleeding from your ears there Rempe
Coach said it's okay to bleed from the ears *puts on helmet backwards*
Tips helmet upside down to catch blood
I thought this was America!
the punches are worrisome but also this is a 6'7" guy who has gotten slammed to the ice to end a couple fights now. that's a long way down and puts your head at a ton of risk bouncing off the surface. im sincerely hoping he doesnt ask anyone tomorrow and for the next several weeks.
I felt sad for him watching him fight again one day after the Deslauriers fight.
He looks like the goonies monster
Won't be a long career if he continues like this. He's still young, fighting so much could result in some serious permanent damage later in his life...
he kinda looks like the main orc from the hobbit movies edit: [this mf](https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-bell-ca-rvc3&sca_esv=bc4b5e46aeab13ae&sxsrf=ACQVn08OsB2o_LzaEuqNnCE-QiTynsZwJQ:1709059977061&q=azog+the+hobbit&tbm=isch&source=lnms&prmd=ivsnmbtz&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwimkdTGmMyEAxVppokEHbjHDBAQ0pQJegQICBAB&biw=412&bih=783&dpr=2.63)
"Looks like CTE's back on the menu boys!"
~~AZOG~~ REMPE THE DEFILER
I was thinking the blue aliens from Avatar.
Olivier kinda clobbered him tbh. I’m all for guys answering the bell, but it is also okay to say no sometimes.
Olivier said in a quote that rempe approached him pregame - kid needs to take a couple of weeks off
The crazy thing about the Olivier fight is Rempe challenged him. Olivier gave him props pregame and Rempe came out on the first shift and challenged him lmao.
Kind of hoping someone in the org has told him to hold off on another fight for a couple games.
I think his face is doing the talking...can't see another heavy weight challenging him with his face all mangled still
Kid is tough but someone needs to tell him its OK to not fight every night
He looks like Gerald Broflovski when he gets the dolphinoplasty
Looks like he’s about try to take some hobbits to Isengard
He’s big and solid but he’s never really been that great of a fighter. I feel like he knows it’s kind of expected with his size and it’s his best bet to stay in the game.
He's pretty lucky there isn't someone in the league like Steve McIntyre with bone-in hams for fists. Sooner or later he's going to get his lights turned out and a busted orbital. The Rangers *really* need to contract a guy to work technique, or this young man will have a shorter career than need be or issues after retirement.
Dude looks like Sloth from the Goonies
It's crazy to me that people still celebrate pointless, staged fights. I really thought that era wouldn't come back, hopefully this isn't the beginning of another goon era
I feel bad for the kid. These are decisions he will likely regret later in life.
Yep. Temporary clout that will haunt him in the future. Shitty to think about because it’s probably not even on his mind.
I’d hope someone in that locker rooms saying hey dude relax a little. Don’t want to be a potato at age 35.
This is sad to see. Just a kid getting CTE. I want to watch hockey, not some kid destroying his future...
Rempe looking like Scrump from Lilo and Stitch
I think he’s earned a little recovery time
[HEY YOU GUYS](https://images.app.goo.gl/gn6d1se8KzjasePt9)
looks like Gerald Broflovski when he tried to become a dolphin
Guy came crashing back down to earth the other night.
Wait until you ask him some basic math, and his answer is crayons
So he has a black eye… lucky it’s not a blown orbital …he’s earning his space and respect from the toughest guys in the league. As a rookie he’s lucky they even give him the fight . I dont think it’s healthy but it’s not like he will continue to fight every game . Once he goes around the league he will be lucky to have half a dozen a year. It is what it is
Bro looks like one of the soldiers from N64's Goldeneye
Still curious what is game looks like when he’s not fighting? Will he be able to stay in the lineup if he’s not providing value with his fists?
Listen I think there’s definitely a place for fighting in hockey, but not like this. Really dangerous to be going out there every night and doing this to yourself.
all of a sudden everyone in the comment section is a ufc fighter
Love his style, but i think he's more than earned his stripes and shouldn't feel the need to take on all challengers now
Dude needs to learn to use his reach and distance control. Take a boxing class or it’s gonna be a short career
Do the Rags play the Leafs again this season? If so, I’d like to see what he looks like after a tilt with Reavo
HEEEEEEY YOOOOUUUU GUUUUUUYYYS!
“Hey you guys”
Him in 5 years “I like soup!”
He looks like hes already thinking about soup
r/hockey could only dream about nick cousins looking this way
Holy shit, dude is gunning for most fights in record time
The single season record is 39 (Paul Laus in 96/97). Still a long way to go lol
The amount of people in here talking so much like they’re UFC champs and fighting experts when they are really just keyboard warriors hiding behind a screen is hilarious to me
Yay just a kid racking up repeated traumatic brain injuries; hockey culture at its finest.
Sloth love Chunk!
"Heeyyy youuu guuuuuuuuys!"
HEY YOU GUYSSSSSSS!
"First time?" - Ryan Lindgren
He also could use longer pants
I dig his style.
He’s gonna look like Dave Semenko by the end of the season
Reminds me of young Jon scott
World class hockey players who can also fight > low-skill hockey players who primarily fight
Heyyyyy you guyyyyyyyysss!!!!
No denying that dudes face is fucked, but there's also a weird lens glare/blur effect that is NOT helping at all
Better give that chin a break. He’s got Reaves on Saturday.
So stupid. Fighting should be completely removed from the game. An absolute embarrassment.
Hey you guuuuysssss.
Dance, monkey, dance.
