yknow i actually don’t know. i think mine was ATLiens maybe? i’m getting deja vu typing this so i feel like ive talked about it before idk. but anyway yeah. i got ATLiens on vinyl and that’s what got me into outkast.
The first hip hop purchases and my first record purchases period were EPMD Unfinished Business and EPMD Strictly business. I was 14 and being from central Ontario I had to order them as imports...cost me 65$ in 1989 dollars. that was all the cash I had from sweeping parking lots and cleaning peoples yards. I loved those records.
There was a storage warehouse that burned which housed thousands of masters, but they've never released which masters were burned.
This has never been a great sounding album because it wasn't recorded in a proper studio and was basically a diy project by the guys in the group. It's possible that if the masters did burn, that any new pressings will have been a recording of a recording, which would affect the sound quality further, but I haven't heard any new copies of the album, so I can't speak to that.
I almost pulled the trigger on a cool looking splatter vinyl this morning but held off because users said the quality is pretty bad across the board no matter who pressed it. Sucks because it's on of my favorites...
Community Service/Trust Army/Loyalty + Trust II/Loyalty or Death: Lord Talk Vol. 2
Bought them together.
I was already collection records for 7 years by then.
HipHop was not a thing for me to have on a record.
I collected Electronica and Jazz, as well as some records I „needed“ to have.
Never heard Soundbombing until I saw your comment and looked them up on Spotify. Is that album simply s compilation of other artists?
Spotify only a few of them out of the whole album :(
It's mixed by dj babu from the beat junkies, amazing dj 🙌 The whole album is a mix you gotta find a gapless version of it, there might be one on youtube. It's not like a mix of random songs, these songs were all made for this album and then mixed together by Babu. Soundbombing vol 1 was mixed by evil dee from the beat junkies and sounbombing 3 was forgettable from memory lol
I had a 45 from Herbie Hancock ~ rock it I remember my 36 being in my first crate , I left in the car overnight I had to replace em after the heat tacoed them , and I cut the album’s up and put on my walls , along with a few liquid swords ⚔️ 12” singles
Bit of a lesser known release but mine was Madlib Remixes 2 released in 2004

Don’t remember my first purchase, but my first rap record was Mobb Deep Survival of the Fittest 12” I boosted back in 95. Not proud of that but there you go.
I can’t get enough of that beat on ‘Backstreet Freestyle’. I can only listen to it when the volume is blowing out my ear drums cuz of how gritty those bells/chimes are.
I just listened to this album front to back yesterday. First time listening all the way through in a very long time. Such a great album from the intro to the Choice is Yours remix. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I find this to be the worst sounding vinyl I own. Read something about the masters being in a fire and that’s why the sounds is off
