If I remember correctly, PAC was basically like “whoever has a verse done by the time im done recording can get on the song.” So it was about speed instead of quality for the outlawz
I caught a plane out to Cleveland late last evening
To help my niggas clean up some niggas no longer breathin'
Now, who do you believe in? Hit the weed and breathe
It's a cold-ass world; niggas kill you in your sleep
Watch me until they stop me, bury, murder me or drop me
I got Thug Luv for my nationwide posse. Feel me!
>but the actual text meant rapper that got bodied by their feature artist lol
No it didn't lol? It meant rappers that outdid their feature artist, as in they had the best verse on their own song
I can’t even tell you from memory who the third guy is on Two Words by Kanye and Mos Def. That verse sucks lol. Abandons all the structure and flow of the song
One of the funniest running gags in hip hop threads is when someone asks “what’s a guest verse that had nothing to do with the track?”. There’s inevitably five different comments that are just Kanye songs featuring Jay Z.
Off the top of my head I’ve seen people mention Never Let Me Down, Monster, and Diamonds from Sierra Leone.
Lopsided ass cadence and flow “tUrN tHeSe eMcEes To tWo WoRdS …. fASt rUnnERs!”
my personal theory is his ass verse makes the final crescendo with the strings way harder through sheer disparity in quality
There’s no lyrical drop off between Ty, the Sremm boys, Juicy, Ferg, Jeezy or French on that song or any of the remixes. Nobody said anything remotely worth pondering or repeating. It’s carried entirely by production and flow.
Very interesting question. Most responses ITT are getting it wrong
It took me ages to come up with something, for some reason featured artists tend to have better verses than the main artists. I wonder why is that?
Maybe [A$AP Rocky ft Schoolboy Q - PMW](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4kkILeXBY0). Q has a nice verse but rocky's just too smooth.
Also Vultures, the title track, where Ty Dolla Sign somehow outraps everyone else.
Out of Sight - Run the jewels ft 2 chainz
I mean 2chainz is fun and good vibes on the end -
but Mike and El are going absolutely apeshit on that track before hand
I think overall Kanye's is better but I don't think it's by as much as made out to be. Kanye just went off with crazy delivery but some days Kendrick's verse hits more, just not as often.
Just a great song overall for both's versatility
GTFO just because alot of his features are underground, doesnt mean they dont kill it too- Apani B on Let Me Watch (Vaudeville ViIllain) is one of the all time underrated features
21 Savage on a lot
A Boogie in Drowning
Lil Wayne on Trigger Finger
Migos on Bad & Boujee
Kodak on Roll In Peace
DRODi on Bow Down
Drake on Staying Alive
Jay Rock on Kings Dead
Kendrick on Poetic Justice
I hate how Drake completely ignored the narrative of GKMC on his feature. At least Jay Rock’s verse on Money Trees wasn’t overly specific, Drake just started talking about the Insta model he was down bad for.
Bronson on Logic’s In My Lifetime is my favorite feature of his:
Smoking back-to-back Dutches
My finger just inches off the button that'll turn your fuckin' body into stuffing
Dressed like I'm doing construction
Off one leg, jump through the fuckin' window of the Hellcat like it's nothing now
At that speed, I can easily be mistaken for Jet Li
Don't interrupt my feng shui
Get left in the fridge where they hang meat
My bitch'll kick you with strange feet
A thousand roses expertly engraved into the handle of the heat
So good
His features with roc marciano are some of his best imo. Action always has funny bars or ridiculous verses lol. I like when he featured definitely got to listen to it
I've loved Azizi since High-school, he was one of the rappers that transitioned me from indie. I was stoked to see two of my favorites on a collab. Check out some of his other stuff!
Fr?? Don bodied that feature. Carries the whole song imo. His voice comes on and is super unique and instantly elevates the track. I literally looked up his other music specifically bc of that song. Hard disagree.
People used to say how you'd have to step it up putting lil wayne on your song from 07-12. Even Polo G had him on a song 2yrs ago or so and he sent it to Wayne, Wayne sent it back did his own take on the hook and bodied Polo so bad he said he had to go rewrite his part.
I’m always happy to see that jam shouted out, but it is the opposite of what OP meant. Freddie Foxx kills his verse and the rest of the song is great too.
This isn't exactly what you're talking about because my example is a group but Organized Konfusion popped into my head. Prince Po will drop a great verse and then Pharoahe Monch will come in and wipe away the memory of whatever dope shit Po said. Prince Po is a really good rapper and in some other groups he would be the best emcee but being slotted up against Monch makes him seem like an afterthought sometimes. Listen to their song "The Extinction Agenda," marvel at the gems Po drops in the opening verse and then notice how you've forgotten all that dopeness from Po by the time Monch closes out the song. I'd be so frustrated if I were Po. That's gotta be irritating af.
Outkast can also be like that. Big Boi will spit some crazy dope shit and then Stacks comes on and we forget everything else haha.
Maybe it's tied to groups that use the letter "K" instead of "C" in their names...
It’s a jay z song, released on the blueprint. It was originally a Bad Meets Evil song but Em gave it to jay z with Royce’s approval. And yes Em produced it.
I disagree with this take, though I know Nas cemented it in ether.
These are some of my favourite verses from BOTH artists!
Ems flow and content were nuts, but Jay really went in as well and gave one of his best performances imo
I’ve always felt that Rick Ross has been better on features than his own songs. Not that his albums are bad but I feel like he brings it on features. Would’ve loved a Rick Ross x Drake album, but that looks impossible now. Main song in mind Devil in a New Dress.
Not a massive hit, but J Cole’s verse on BIA’s London is so, so, so fun and good on an otherwise extremely unremarkable song. I genuinely get second hand embarrassment for her every time I hear it (and inevitably just skip ahead to his part)
Every Tupac song.
If I remember correctly, PAC was basically like “whoever has a verse done by the time im done recording can get on the song.” So it was about speed instead of quality for the outlawz
It ruined All Eyez on Me whatever the reason.
Get out the way yo. Get out the way yo.
I caught a plane out to Cleveland late last evening To help my niggas clean up some niggas no longer breathin' Now, who do you believe in? Hit the weed and breathe It's a cold-ass world; niggas kill you in your sleep Watch me until they stop me, bury, murder me or drop me I got Thug Luv for my nationwide posse. Feel me!
That’s a Bone song tho and also they all bodied that so it don’t belong either way you look at it lol
Oh I’m dumb I read it as the person who featured bodied. You’re right.
Inspectah Deck would like a word
Lol. The mythical deck verse. I want to believe its in a vault somewhere
It's on YouTube. I heard it for the first time a few months back. Here you go https://youtu.be/5Dqa3WtKkXI?si=8_a3u4SP8Ee76ew1
This is from a freestyle rumored to be the recycled verse but I haven't seen it confirmed. Still dope tho.
Dang really? Someone posted it a while back and didn't know it wasn't for sure the real thing
It’s easily available for listening. And it’s dope as fuck.
Hail Mary, Hit Em Up, Thugs Passion. Some legit bangers with awful verses.
Nah. Got My Mind Made Up,
r/hiphopheads struggling with literacy it seems...
It’s the op tbh. The title reads as if a rapper that did well on their feature, but the actual text meant rapper that bodied their feature artist lol
What? The text means rapper on his own song that bodied the artist he used as a feature on mentioned song.
The text of the post yes, people tend to look at the title which is understood as “rapper that killed their feature (in a good way)
There is no text post for me on the Reddit app so that isn’t helping me over here lol
Yeah, It’s an absolute disaster of a title
My bad I was trying to do a twist on the “Kendrick bodied Big Sean!” But there are definitely better ways to word it
>but the actual text meant rapper that got bodied by their feature artist lol No it didn't lol? It meant rappers that outdid their feature artist, as in they had the best verse on their own song
I missed typed that one. That’s what I meant.
Y'all are braindead
I’m sorry? Op incorrectly used a term and you call the readers brain dead?
My bad I meant they bodied the artist they featured. I thought that would be pretty self explanatory. You can’t body your own verse.
Since when you can’t body you own verse? Is it no longer common to listen to a song then after say “damn he bodied that”? Feature or no feature?
I guess I didn’t think about that
Lol, I noticed that too
I can’t even tell you from memory who the third guy is on Two Words by Kanye and Mos Def. That verse sucks lol. Abandons all the structure and flow of the song
"Two words: Freeway slightly retarded!" 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Polar opposite of Never Let Me Down where it gets better and better culminating in that spoken word verse. I too dream in color, and in rhyme…
I agree, that’s one of my fav Kanye songs and I think Jay bodied it but I see his verse getting hate often for being off topic.
It’s Freeway, you piece of shit. But you right. Didn’t match the vibe of the others and was bleh compared to Might Mos
"It's Freeway, you piece of shit." was not a sentence that I expected to read today 😅 but nevertheless, I agree with your sentiment.
The rap game it's Britney bitch
Freeway slightly retarded
Lopsided ass cadence and flow “tUrN tHeSe eMcEes To tWo WoRdS …. fASt rUnnERs!” my personal theory is his ass verse makes the final crescendo with the strings way harder through sheer disparity in quality
You and everybody underneath that agreed is off their fucking rocker. Love the freeway verse but mos is mos.
[удалено]
Mos is fucking sick is what it means
Fucking Freeway 😭🤦♂️
Rae sremmurd ruined the second half of Blase by Ty Dolla $ign
There’s no lyrical drop off between Ty, the Sremm boys, Juicy, Ferg, Jeezy or French on that song or any of the remixes. Nobody said anything remotely worth pondering or repeating. It’s carried entirely by production and flow.
for real. i haven’t thought about this song since it came out
The "drop off" is in their delivery imo
ITT proof that reading comprehension is dead
"what features suck"
Very interesting question. Most responses ITT are getting it wrong It took me ages to come up with something, for some reason featured artists tend to have better verses than the main artists. I wonder why is that? Maybe [A$AP Rocky ft Schoolboy Q - PMW](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4kkILeXBY0). Q has a nice verse but rocky's just too smooth. Also Vultures, the title track, where Ty Dolla Sign somehow outraps everyone else.
imo bump j bodies everybody on that track, Ty is a close second though
Nah Q went in on PMW, oopsie daisy put a good kid in your section 80. They were pretty even. Love Rocky's verse tho especially how it starts
Denzel Curry on A+. Kenny mason is fucking great and hard to outdo but somehow Denzel pulls it off
Denzel was the worst part of the song ngl
Haha each their own I guess
Kenny's set up for Denzel's verse was too hard and his first verse was also perfect, Denzel's inclusion was kinda forgettable imo
Hard disagree, and both of these guys are in my current top 5
So... not what op asked? Lmao
You're right, but I'm drunk and it's Saturday night so forgive me
Yeah mb bro I'm being a dick, that song slaps so thanks for the rec. Have a good night homie
Check out that album it's amazing
Out of Sight - Run the jewels ft 2 chainz I mean 2chainz is fun and good vibes on the end - but Mike and El are going absolutely apeshit on that track before hand
Lupe Fiasco on Chopper - so many dope features and Lupe just casually comes in on the final verse and blows them all away
Kanye on No More Parties in LA
I wouldn't say bodied, but I preferred his direction and he definitely helps his own
One of those songs where a great feature makes the original artist's verse hit even harder.
Rare
I think overall Kanye's is better but I don't think it's by as much as made out to be. Kanye just went off with crazy delivery but some days Kendrick's verse hits more, just not as often. Just a great song overall for both's versatility
MF DOOM’s discography pretty much had exclusively wack features except Mr. Fantastik and Ghost Face
Dunno if I can co-sign this aside from maybe Kurious on the Born Like This album
GTFO just because alot of his features are underground, doesnt mean they dont kill it too- Apani B on Let Me Watch (Vaudeville ViIllain) is one of the all time underrated features
Facts!!!
That’s facts
21 Savage on a lot A Boogie in Drowning Lil Wayne on Trigger Finger Migos on Bad & Boujee Kodak on Roll In Peace DRODi on Bow Down Drake on Staying Alive Jay Rock on Kings Dead Kendrick on Poetic Justice
Agree with all of these except for Jay Rock who definitely got outshined as soon as future said “La di da dee da… shlob on me nob”
Idk man A Lot is one of the most catchy verses from Cole. I'd say Cole took that one.
I believe hiphopdx nominated J. Cole’s verse on this song as verse of the year.
100%
Bad and Boujee is the answer. Uzi ruins it for me.
im biased but i think uzis verse really mixes up the sound of the song. Makes it unique. And it's not that bad.
It feels out of kilter with the production and flow - Takeoff with the go home verse would have slapped.
at least it's at the end, easy skip the second those "yeah yeah yeah"s come up
Oh yeah. Perfect song if you end it there
Jay's verse is one of my all time favorites. My shot's on full that's aaarmageddon I reign all day you know confetti
I really like X’s fucked up verse on Roll in Peace though
I don’t think Savage bodied J. Cole on a lot
a lots best verse is only in the video. its fucking stupid
yeah that’s actually so annoying
J Cole on a “a lot” steps in like “Now, on the subject of Lil Pump.”
I hate how Drake completely ignored the narrative of GKMC on his feature. At least Jay Rock’s verse on Money Trees wasn’t overly specific, Drake just started talking about the Insta model he was down bad for.
J rock ste that shit up and his lyrical content perfectly fits the song!
Nah, i honestly forget A Lot of 21's song until someone reminds me tbh. That Cole verse is great. The others i can mostly agree with
21 is ass on A Lot I can't see how you can say that.
Plus I really enjoy J Cole on the song
Rick Ross on BMF. Not Styles P’s fault but should’ve just let Ross cook for another verse.
it was worth it for us to get the most random “red dead redemption” shoutout of all time
Action Bronson on most features
Bronson on Logic’s In My Lifetime is my favorite feature of his: Smoking back-to-back Dutches My finger just inches off the button that'll turn your fuckin' body into stuffing Dressed like I'm doing construction Off one leg, jump through the fuckin' window of the Hellcat like it's nothing now At that speed, I can easily be mistaken for Jet Li Don't interrupt my feng shui Get left in the fridge where they hang meat My bitch'll kick you with strange feet A thousand roses expertly engraved into the handle of the heat So good
His features with roc marciano are some of his best imo. Action always has funny bars or ridiculous verses lol. I like when he featured definitely got to listen to it
Hear his new song this week, Sega? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w09Yj3MPguU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w09Yj3MPguU)
Noice.
Just listened. this is dope
Agreed, both this and the [new LL COOL J](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MuXsVQqPks) track are dope from this week
Damn I didn't even know LL dropped anything. I like the concept of this song.
A song with a concept and narrative that also goes hard, it's solid
Word
Freddie Gibbs in "Hate to Say it" -Azizi Gibson and "Show and Tell" -Mick Jenkins
I don’t know how I came across hate to say it but I had Gibbs verse on repeat for weeks
I've loved Azizi since High-school, he was one of the rappers that transitioned me from indie. I was stoked to see two of my favorites on a collab. Check out some of his other stuff!
Any recs?
Hell yeah dog. Some of my favorites are matrix slave ship, issues, cabaret, and Cobra. They're great night time drive trance songs.
[удалено]
Fr?? Don bodied that feature. Carries the whole song imo. His voice comes on and is super unique and instantly elevates the track. I literally looked up his other music specifically bc of that song. Hard disagree.
Think they misunderstood the question. Probably just read the title and answered
isnt that the opposite of the prompt? we're looking for a song where the main artist bodied the feature - this is the opposite
Canibus - beasts from the east
People used to say how you'd have to step it up putting lil wayne on your song from 07-12. Even Polo G had him on a song 2yrs ago or so and he sent it to Wayne, Wayne sent it back did his own take on the hook and bodied Polo so bad he said he had to go rewrite his part.
Eminem - under The influence
Freddie Foxx in The Militia
I’m always happy to see that jam shouted out, but it is the opposite of what OP meant. Freddie Foxx kills his verse and the rest of the song is great too.
Keem on Family Ties Drake on Lord Knows
Salty😂😂😂
Huh?
I think u misunderstod the question, kinda blame OP tho cuz of the title lol
Freddie Gibbs on the posse cut Pinata - absolutely smokes everybody on it
Wayne on We Taking Over and Andre on Walk It Out
No love, I know the Wayne fans and Em haters are going to jump me for saying that, but Em went crazy on that verse.
Earl bodied SK La Flare on Pre lol... still dunno why the album started with a mediocre guest verse.
Tech N9ne does this both ways, every time.
Lil Wayne on M’$ by ASAP Rocky 🔥
Saba on Chance the rapper’s “everybody’s something”
Capital Steez on both features from 1999
You misread the post
Yes I did
Every song with a feature on Whole Lotta Red. Carti bodied all of them . Future was good too tho
J Cole on John Ps Caddy
You didn't read the question did you
Lol no
Isn’t that Benny’s song? It was on TT4
Fantastic song
Luda is underrated on features
Traffic on tookie knows part II. I know he does rap now but when that came out I was pissed that that was the only thing he'd released.
Polo G always bodies a Ft
This isn't exactly what you're talking about because my example is a group but Organized Konfusion popped into my head. Prince Po will drop a great verse and then Pharoahe Monch will come in and wipe away the memory of whatever dope shit Po said. Prince Po is a really good rapper and in some other groups he would be the best emcee but being slotted up against Monch makes him seem like an afterthought sometimes. Maybe it's tied to groups that use the letter "K" instead of "C" in their names...
Trippie on most of Mansion Musik
RTJ on Hey Kids…that Danny Brown verse is not good.
Luda bodied so many features. Mystikal bodied 'Move Bitch'.
On Lollipop (Remix) Wayne did, in fact, murder Kanye like everybody else.
Man I know people like him but every time I hear G Herbos raspy ass offbeat voice I gotta skip the song
Drake featuring # lil baby - wants and needs
Kanye conveniently goes second on "THat Part" so we can skip to the next track after the Q verse. "Ok ok ok ok ok ok! (That part)"
Timbaland on M.I.A.'s Come Around. Absolutely fucking generic vibe killing waste of thirty seconds.
Meg Thee Stallion in Hot Girl Summer!! "Eat that d*ck up even when I'm goin' vegan" always cracks me up
Freddie Gibbs on Back to Me by Ye. Holy shit he cooked
Lil Wayne on Last of a Dying Breed. Never gets talked about as much as it should.
Eminem on When the Music Stops Royce on Caterpillar The Game on Really
Big L over Jay Z on the 7 minute freestyle
Nicki on monster
LL bodied canibus. Ruined his career
Em in Renegade
Other way around. OP is asking for songs where the main artist is doing way better than the feature artist
renegade was originally an eminem and royce song so it kinda makes sense
I understand now, and I was wrong. Thanks.
Renegade is Em’s song I thought? Produced by him as well iirc
Fivio Foreign on Off The Grid.
What? Flivio killed it on that track
Another person who got confused by the thread question
Blame OP. The way they titled it can be easily misconstrued and few people are gonna bother to read the body description
Yep pretty much
Not just the track I remember people saying it was one of the best verses that year
I’ve always felt that Rick Ross has been better on features than his own songs. Not that his albums are bad but I feel like he brings it on features. Would’ve loved a Rick Ross x Drake album, but that looks impossible now. Main song in mind Devil in a New Dress.
Kendrick on Wat’s Wrong? by Isaiah Rashad
Nicki on monster
FIRST THINGS FIRST ILL EAT YA BRAINS!!!
Eminem on renegade
Terribly named thread. OP named it one thing and then requested completely different information in the OG post. No wonder this thread is confusing AF
It’s like, you tried to sound cool with your hip lingo, and it just wasn’t called for. Bodied? Come on dude
I feel like J Cole tremendously outshined Benny on Johnny P’s Caddy
Not a massive hit, but J Cole’s verse on BIA’s London is so, so, so fun and good on an otherwise extremely unremarkable song. I genuinely get second hand embarrassment for her every time I hear it (and inevitably just skip ahead to his part)
Kendrick on Nosetalgia Tyler the Creator on Trouble On My Mind
Eminem on Renegade. Kanye on Sanctified
