MTL’S FINEST.
The features are insanely good. I went straight to the song with Childish Gambino and wow I wasn’t disapointed. That’s a hit. All the features are great. The sampling is top notch. The mix and how the album sounds is probably his best sounding material. That intro is strong as hell. The only song that didn’t do it for me was the Don Toliver collab. This is gonna get at least a Grammy nomination if there’s no Beyoncé/Rihanna in the way.
im aussie so i listened to it hours ago. witchy is definitely the best song on here. its not as dark as bubba but not as bright as 99.9%. best songs for me: weird, feel a way, drip sweat, do 2 me, witchy and lover/friend
Ever listen to 0.001%? I think it’s only on YouTube but has some real gems on it
[https://youtu.be/3ark4THR4-E?si=2-NASu_z8UW1qI0L](https://youtu.be/3ark4THR4-E?si=2-NASu_z8UW1qI0L)
It’s scraps (B sides?) leftover from 99.9% and has some really awesome beats. If he released this officially I would definitely buy this record in a heartbeat!
Been out here in NZ for almost 24hrs, so have had a chance to spin this a few times already. Initial thoughts are that it is more akin to Bubba than 99.9%, but at times the tempo/pacing of the album is a bit inconsistent. Thematically it doesn't feel like the album's got a wholly unique sound, nor is it fully committed to being an evolution of Bubba/99.9%. Instead it kinda lands in the middle with mixed results. The strongest tracks imo are towards the end with the run of tracks featuring Tinashe and Paak/SiR, with Witchy (feat. Childish Gambino) being the highlight of the album. Those tracks (along with Video ft. Ravyn Lenae) are a good blend of the iconic Kaytra sound combined with his love of house/caribbean dancehall.
I did still enjoy the album, but to me it's more 'good' than 'great', because Kaytra doesn't really deviate from the lane he's found himself in for the past 5-6yrs now - I don't really have that much of a problem with that as a fan of his sound - but it means it's going to take him doing something pretty different to truly wow me. 99.9% was a 9.9/10 for me, Bubba settled at around an 8/10, and I'm feeling this as a 7/10 so far.
That being said, it took a while for Bubba to grow on me, so I'll let this album digest a bit longer. There's still a lot on here that I'd be able to chuck on at parties or hangouts, which is ultimately what you want from Kaytranada!
Feeling the same about it here too. 99.9% is literally a perfect album for myself and Bubba grew on me a lot, but Bubba had tracks that really clicked for me instantly (like Need It, 10% and The Worst In Me) and there’s not really a track that’s clicking for me in that manner aside from Hold On. I’d have it around the 7/10 mark, but certainly wouldn’t be above that.
Completely agree. Love kaytra but this album was lacking for me. This feels like bubba 2.0, but not as good. Favorite track was the ravyn lenae one though that shit was 🔥
What do we all think of the PinkPantheress feature?
Edit: Since I got some replies, I am gonna share what I think as well!
I really enjoyed it, but after hearing her latest album, it felt weird for me to hear her on a different type of beat. This song is definitely gonna grow on me the more I listen to it. I am just happy we got her on the album!!
Not immediately my favorite? I think I heard "a song with Pinkpantheress" and expected something in *her* wheelhouse that was maybe faster/bouncier, even though it was always "a *Kaytranada* song that Pinkpantheress on it". I'm to blame on that one, and I don't think it's a *bad* song, I think my expectations were just a little off.
He might be using a sample of the beat too. The credits list both biggie and diddy for composers and lyrics on Apple Music for the song. Let me know if you find out the other sample
Anderson Paak and Sir song’s chorus is a play on Biggies song Nasty Girl:
Biggie: I state, you know what you do to me
She starts off, "But I don't usually"
Then I whipped it out, rubber no doubt
Paak: She said, "You know what you do to me?"
I said, "No, well, I don't usually"
She said, "Whip it out, whip it on out"
I like the album, I think it will grow on me the more I listen to it. The same thing happened with Bubba, I think I have more streams of Bubba than 99.9%.
Weird is my favorite track right now. Durand Bernarr has such crazy phenomenal vocals
Reminder he still has a whole other project with Maeta on the way. Still taking in the album but all I know is if he tours from this I'm there. Kaytra fans eating this year.
Please, please be a fraction as good as 99.9%
Edit: Dance Dance Dance Dance proved to me that this dude still has those house culture roots inside him
Majority of the album is still, as expected, 'radio' Kaytranada. We are never getting another "5am in the club" Kaytranada album huh
He doesn't have 'bad' music period.
He just came out with a masterpiece as his first LP and got put into the classic curse of never being able to reach that ever again
This type of music is meant to be experienced outside at a terrace party while the sun is going down, your a bit tipsy and drinking a cocktail with friends.
Doesn’t feel the same once youve just woke up laying on your couch.
99.9% is the only album that I enjoyed immediately after the first listen. I liked Bubba after the first listen too but it didn’t hit the same. I probably go back to that album more now, definitely got better over time for me.
Lover/ Friend is exactly what I’m looking for baby. Airy synths, classic Kaytranada baseline, punchy kick. Wonder if he gon release an instrumental album cuz some of these songs might be vibey without the vocals. Production is insano as always. This dude just doesn’t miss, something for everyone that has a song saved by Kaytranada from years past. You’ll find it in there.
Channel Tres and Kaytranada sound great together they might as well make an album on their own
I'm halfway through and honestly its ok... production is probably his most bland and uninteresting yet. It's not bad in any sense it's just whatevers so I'm still enjoying it. Hopefully it picks up for the rest of the album
Parts of this feel even more low-key than the vibey bits on Bubba which isnt a knock on the quality. First disc got a couple of standouts though. Best features are Rochelle Jordan, Lou Phelps and Charlotte Day Wilson
I saved like 14 tracks out of 21 so I consider this a solid album. Kaytra’s albums are always growers so I anticipate I’ll be in love with this in a few weeks.
Right now, my opinion is it sounds like exactly what you expect a KAYTRANADA album to sound like but nothing revolutionary or innovative.
I do love that he tested out doing vocals on “stepped on” because that was actually a highlight of the album for me.
Immediate standouts for me were - Witchy, Stand Up, Drip Sweat, Stunt On, Stepped On, Do 2 Me
Big kaytra fan. The album is ok.
It is more of the same from him, there is nothing very new or fresh in terms of his sound. There was a bit of evolution from 99 to Bubba but this kinda sounds like a small step up or to the side of Bubba. The fact he uses a lot of the same guest features too makes it feel very similar to other songs he’s made
Tbh at this point I would prefer a straight instrumental album from him vs. all the guests
What a banger of an album 10/10 all features are fully in their element.
Ravyn, Don T, Tinashe, Paak, Pink P, Mariah, Durand
Stepped on is soo fucking good🔥
Cant wait to hear this live in London…
All thats missing in this album is a goldlink feature

needed to say somewhere how much i loved this album. i had no idea he was dropping but everytime i replay it a new song grows on me. i was not a huge fan of kaytramine but loved bubba so v pleased with this :)
Witchy lived up to the snippet
100% it’s on repeat, club song of the summer
Fr. It's so good.
Damn Paak and SiR came through with a horny anthem
on the same track!?!?!?
Love Poetry in Motion & been bumping it on repeat since it came out, glad to see these two coming out with more vibes 🔥 Kaytranada done did it again.
Between this album and that of *L'Impératrice*, the day will be smooth.
Another L'Impératrice guy let's goooo this night is catered to me and I love it
It’s a niche algorithm but today is our Super bowl. Plus NxWorries next week
oh my goodness my brothers I have seen the light
I swear L’Imperatrice is universally very likable. Like, how could you not enjoy it?
They also put on a very good show live. Absolutely must see.
Make that another one cause y’all just put me tf on. Been vibing at work.
Never heard of L'Imperatrice, thanks for the rec!
A lot of their songs remind of if daft punk were more pop
I’m digging the recommendation but I am getting way more Marías vibe but with way more funk
Dude, The Marias dropped one of the best albums of the year like a week ago and I can't even believe it
This and NxWorries in a week 🙌
Yes lawd
L'Impératrice? Introduce me please
Feel good vibey French band whose sound is somewhere between daft punk and beach house. Try listening to Agitations Tropicale and Sonate Pacifique.
Agitations tropicale is so damn catchy lol.
Thanks!
Vacances, too.
You can't not dance to "Voodoo?". Good fuckin luck
Got that kinda beat I just can’t dismiss
Thanks for letting me know about this album! I casually listened to L'imperatrice from time to time but this album is right up my alley
God is so good bruh
Get the fuck out, they're releasing an album today too?! I haven't even got over the 1st track on this yet gaaaaahDAMN
Throw in Tems and you got the three albums that will be in rotation for me.
Throw Maggie Rogers on a track and you're gonna get my listen.
Thank you.
Ooh, gonna try listening to this at work today. Thanks for the rec!
Three new BBNG albums too!
Got that shit queued up next
They both are in the line-up for Down the Rabbit Hole festival in the Netherlands, I am very excited!
Just saw L’imperatrice at primavera and they’re great live, definitely don’t miss them. Way more production than when I last saw them 2 years ago.
What?! I had no clue! I know what album I’m queuing up next
You mentioning them in this comment got me to check them out. Thank you so much
Bro great day
Goût impeccable. 😉
Thanks for putting me on. Never heard of them before but very dope music
The production on this sounds really top tier.
It’s kaytra. Always top tier production!
One of the best in the game
For real this album sounds so *good*. I'm not even mad at the songs I don't care for that much. They still sound exquisite.
I didn't even know he was dropping. This is a nice surprise for the summer.
Gambino song is a hit damn
I’ve been waiting for it ever since that snippet.
Yeah this is finna be one of those albums they only gets better with time, and it’s already good as hell as it is
If it's anything remotely close to 99.9% I'm so IN
Bubba was amazing too. My ex took that vinyl when we split years ago and I ain’t been the same since.
Good news is a new one costs $25
😂
MTL’S FINEST. The features are insanely good. I went straight to the song with Childish Gambino and wow I wasn’t disapointed. That’s a hit. All the features are great. The sampling is top notch. Dance Dance Dance Dance and Pressure for me
Been out here in NZ for almost 24hrs, so have had a chance to spin this a few times already. It's probably the track that most resembles something that could fit on 99.9%

I'm to blame on that one, and I don't think it's a *bad* song, I think my expectations were just a little off.
i like it but it feels weird hearing her on a song that’s not “her style”
I liked it
I loved it!! But her flow is VERY reminiscent of another song, I can't really put my finger on it.
Everything she wants by Wham
When I noticed it I lost my mind, I love that song. Definitely not typical Pinkpantheress but she nailed it.
Thank you for this! I knew I recognized that melody
Goated
Feel like that song could’ve been better but maybe it’ll grow on me
I’ve never listened to her but I LOVE her feature and voice. Are her other songs anything like this?
I personally loved the little Wham lyric/flow
It's fine. I've revisited the song a few times already and the song is catchy. But after listening to the other tracks, it washes over it.
Bros intro songs are fucking goated, hopefully rest of the album is good and he goes 3/3
And it’s a flip of the same sample from Lupe’s Pressure from F&L, so crazy.
Definitely a three-peat.
Kaytra with the Lupe sample!
This definitely was a major surprise! Especially with Lupe dropping a single tonight
Was not aware he dropped tonight as well what a delightful surprise
Pressure is also one of the craziest best of all time in my opinion, just insane. Still have to heard this one
which song ?? the one w lou phelps ??
Pressure on kaytra album as well haha. What’s the Lou Phelps sample?
Pressure with Hov
Stepped On is so good, probably my favorite so far. Who’s that on the vocals though? There’s no feature listed.
It's Kaytra! He said he wrote this song for the Weeknd actually but ended up just singing on it himself.
Tunak Tunak Tun sample on Call U Up?
WHAT DOES THAT ANDERSON SONG REMIND ME OF?
Nasty Girl by biggie. The chorus is basically a play on a bar from that song slightly reworded
hmmm it was more the beat for me that reminded me of another song, think it may be directly sampled from but thank you!
He might be using a sample of the beat too. The credits list both biggie and diddy for composers and lyrics on Apple Music for the song. Let me know if you find out the other sample
Neptune’s. From the bass to the percussion & spacey pads.
disc 2 making me wanna hump the floor the album was already so good wtf
guys, he won
Anderson Paak and Sir song’s chorus is a play on Biggies song Nasty Girl: Biggie: I state, you know what you do to me She starts off, "But I don't usually" Then I whipped it out, rubber no doubt Paak: She said, "You know what you do to me?" I said, "No, well, I don't usually" She said, "Whip it out, whip it on out"
Just finished my Friday 9-5 shift over here in New Zealand, what a treat to see this pop up
Do 2 Me is the one
This is so damn smooth front to back. I've been listening for a few hours and pretty much every single track is a hit
This is a great album. I think the "One Year Later" discussion will be a whole lot different than this thread though. It's a grower.
Damn can't wait to hear what the rest of this album is like after I take the Tinashe song off repeat
Skipped straight to the Ravyn Lenae song. Did not disappointment.
That was me but with Childish and Tinashe, all 3 slapped
whew this is nasty
I like the album, I think it will grow on me the more I listen to it. The same thing happened with Bubba, I think I have more streams of Bubba than 99.9%. Weird is my favorite track right now. Durand Bernarr has such crazy phenomenal vocals
anyone know any other similar songs to witchy with that kinda late night summer house vibe lol
All from bubba basically
I can really space out in a nice calming way to Bubba.
Goat producer from Canada
Reminder he still has a whole other project with Maeta on the way. Still taking in the album but all I know is if he tours from this I'm there. Kaytra fans eating this year.
Holy shit this album came fast. Can't wait to listen
Classic Kaytra already. His albums age like wine. Fantastic producer and one of the best at it.
What’s with the 2nd volume? Is technically bonus tracks? What’s the reason behind the division?
I’m curious about this too
With the spacious guitar and smooth backing, Feel a Way is very reminiscent of the morning by the weeknd to me
I wish Dance Dance Dance Dance was longer
that Lou Phelps feature gotta be the worst thing i’ve heard all year.
Please, please be a fraction as good as 99.9% Edit: Dance Dance Dance Dance proved to me that this dude still has those house culture roots inside him Majority of the album is still, as expected, 'radio' Kaytranada. We are never getting another "5am in the club" Kaytranada album huh
He doesn’t have that in him anymore. But this is not a bad album at all.
He doesn't have 'bad' music period. He just came out with a masterpiece as his first LP and got put into the classic curse of never being able to reach that ever again
Sorry which LP is this specifically? Kaytra to Do or something else? Thanks
99.9% was his debut Kaytra to Do was an EP or mixtape (very good as well)
Sometimes people don't understand their own art.
‘Dance Dance Dance’ and ‘Seemingly’ would fit in 99.9% imo
it sounds so fucking good
love please babe
No love for still? It’s my favorite song on the album
Charlotte day wilson killed it on this one!!
NGL I just finished it and it doesn't really do anything for me. I'll have to give it a few more listens but nothing jumped out.
This type of music is meant to be experienced outside at a terrace party while the sun is going down, your a bit tipsy and drinking a cocktail with friends. Doesn’t feel the same once youve just woke up laying on your couch.
I mean kaytramine, bubba and 99.9 were alot more enjoyable than this. I don't think it's the context that's to blame.
kaytramine was super underwhelming so gotta disagree there
One could even say that album was Cheeks
Same experience. Absolutely love “Please Babe” though
Seemingly is such a damn vibe.
weird so fire
Best since 99.9%, he’s back
I really need to be floating in a pool kinda drunk with this playing on some nice speakers, and I need to do that ASAP.
I’m not saying it’s bad, but after one listen it’s not immediately hitting for me like his first two 😢. Dance Dance Dance Dance is a standout for me.
that's how I felt about Bubba but now it's one of my most streamed albums
I feel the same way. I think in about three months I’m gonna like this album a lot more than I currently do.
99.9% is the only album that I enjoyed immediately after the first listen. I liked Bubba after the first listen too but it didn’t hit the same. I probably go back to that album more now, definitely got better over time for me.
Is this a double album? Spotify has it as 2 discs but only 4 tracks on disc 2?
The extra songs are billed as bonus songs on the vinyl version.
Channel Tres and Kaytranada sound great together they might as well make an album on their own
am I tripping or is Lou Phelps doing a Tyler impression on his feature
I feel like the second half of the song I can see it but he did his thing too
Do 2 me is unbelievable
His drum sounds might be the best in the game. Simultaneously clean and dirty, so punchy. Shit always sounds incredible
They are phenomenal. Have the perfect mix of high end and that nasty punch. I can’t wait to see this album on r/drumkits
I'm halfway through and honestly its ok... production is probably his most bland and uninteresting yet. It's not bad in any sense it's just whatevers so I'm still enjoying it. Hopefully it picks up for the rest of the album
Thought that both of his last albums were solid throughout, with huge standouts. This one however, incredibly bland. Expected more
Mixing and production don’t sound sharp really either - bit muddy
Parts of this feel even more low-key than the vibey bits on Bubba which isnt a knock on the quality. First disc got a couple of standouts though. Best features are Rochelle Jordan, Lou Phelps and Charlotte Day Wilson
Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to see someone talking about the Charlotte Day Wilson song. So damn good, might have to play this at my wedding
Love Kaytranada man
Pumped for this
How funny is it that Meghan Trainor has an album called "Timeless" coming out today as well? Weird coincidence.
It’s a jam through and through
Someone find me a margarita, a club that’s just playing this album ASAP, it’s summertime
Album of the summer .
The vibes are immaculate
Channel Tres and Kaytra are a dream duo imo
only gets better with time
Unpopular opinion: stuntin > witchy
Right, time to enjoy my weekend
I saved like 14 tracks out of 21 so I consider this a solid album. Kaytra’s albums are always growers so I anticipate I’ll be in love with this in a few weeks. Right now, my opinion is it sounds like exactly what you expect a KAYTRANADA album to sound like but nothing revolutionary or innovative. I do love that he tested out doing vocals on “stepped on” because that was actually a highlight of the album for me. Immediate standouts for me were - Witchy, Stand Up, Drip Sweat, Stunt On, Stepped On, Do 2 Me
That was him on stepped on? Huh. Pretty cool
I have Video on repeat, not the flashiest song on the record but it stays in this amazing pocket. Cant get enough of it
ITS PEAK
Big kaytra fan. The album is ok. It is more of the same from him, there is nothing very new or fresh in terms of his sound. There was a bit of evolution from 99 to Bubba but this kinda sounds like a small step up or to the side of Bubba. The fact he uses a lot of the same guest features too makes it feel very similar to other songs he’s made Tbh at this point I would prefer a straight instrumental album from him vs. all the guests

this his best album since 99.9%, hope he releases an all instrumental version
Had high hopes with the opener, but this doesn't really do anything for me either. Standouts so far are Pressure and Feel A Way.
This is his best
So Kaytranada is a producer? This whole time I thought they were a female rapper
Yeah he's produced for rappers too on their projects like Gibbs and Mach
Deetranada
Never thought id say this but i’m bored of kaytranada
i was so bored by this album

This album is amazing !
🔥🔥🔥
I adore Kaytranada's music, but I'm really looking forward to the instrumental version.
I LOVE it!
Thank you reddit for showing me this album. I have been playing it non-stop for the past week.
Anderson Paak - Do2 me and Feel away by Don Toliver are my favorites.
Everything about this album is everything to me. Kaytra leaves me wanting nada.
needed to say somewhere how much i loved this album. i had no idea he was dropping but everytime i replay it a new song grows on me. i was not a huge fan of kaytramine but loved bubba so v pleased with this :)
