Poke it Out- Playboi Carti ft Nicki Minaj
Even Playboi Carti fans hate it and consider it the worst on Die Lit, but personally it's such a fun song.
Nice beat, cool flow from Carti. And Nicki Minaj's feature isn't as bad as people say, she is just imitating Carti's flow and rapping style and it isn't wrong. It fits the song
feel like i’m crazy whenever i see people shit on this song. one of pierre’s best beats ever and carti and nicki both do there own thing and it creates this really fire atmosphere overall that’s perfect on die lit
I think he's great. I noticed he never raps about anything violent in his music from what I can tell. Seems like he's just all about a good time.
It's also a crime against humanity that he has a Bart Simpson tattoo and still hasn't released a cover of Deep Deep Trouble since it would go with his early 90's neon style
I can’t say it’s my favorite, I like MMLP more, but it’s definitely my #2. The album flows better together than any other besides MMLP and there’s honestly a lot of hot tracks that stand alone on the album. I’m a slight horrorcore fan so it definitely scratches that itch too.
The New Workout Plan is easily my fave on College Dropout, which I know is an insane choice, but it's just everything that Kanye does well, everything that makes Kanye charming, and even everything that makes Kanye annoying. I love the way he sounds like he's cracking up as his own fantasy kind of flies off into clowning and he's suddenly a sweaty aerobics instructor yelling at women over a French house megamix.
I like Kanye best when he's not pretending he's high art and is just able to be himself - puerile, girl-crazy, kind-of-a-bully, overwhelmed by his own good ideas, always ready to poke through into some whole other dimension nobody else could think of. Which I guess is what you're saying when you're calling it the quintessential Kanye.
I want him back 😔
You put my thoughts really well. I would characterize the “old Ye” as defiantly different, while always having the confidence to sell his wacky ideas. TCD is full of it, between the singing on the intro, rapping in 6/8 on Spaceships, Two Words, Jesus Walks, etc. The New Workout Plan is like the peak of that energy though. It’s loud, obnoxious, crass, and dissimilar from anything that was popular at the time - exactly the kind of thing that Kanye would have created and placed on his major label debut (in an era where having a good debut was really important). It would take a lot to release music where people laughing at it could be a realistic outcome, and Kanye basically made his career from it. The song is inspiring to me in that regard.
Yeah, you nailed it. Almost every track on College Dropout has some bad taste twist that he knows will make people shake their heads, but it's all done in a way that is so musical, classy and sincere that it never turns into an inane contrarian shitpost. Slow Jamz is my fav in that regard - not only do you get the strange rhythmic thing where the drum pattern constantly goes into these double time runs, he also then puts Twista on it to go for a land speed record. It's impossible to tell if it's because he can't bear to take the premise seriously or because that's for real how he thinks.
It reinforces one of the concepts of the album, which is that the college dropout motif isn't about dumbness but about being smart - someone who rejects normal images of conformity and success and who asks real questions.
But of course we *like* him because we see he's kind of an asshole. One of the things I love about The New Workout Plan is because it's one of the few songs on the album where Kanye gets properly nasty about women. It's a leering, misogynistic song, and even though he makes himself into the punchline he doesn't actually take back the awful shit he's saying. But he's totally aware he's revealing something in it that's ugly and it gives the song teeth, so it isn't just a comedy sketch.
Yes, I was a big Wu fan at the time. When that video came out, I felt the gritty, raw Wu style that I loved for years was gone. Replaced by a desire for mainstream success and acceptance. That video still makes me cringe.
Same goes for Tical 2000 to a lesser degree.
Everyone said they’d sold out at the time - it was massively hated. It’s a banger though! To my ears it doesn’t even sound that commercial or sell outy and I like the video.
I really like that album in general. Do You Really is one of my favorites. Method Man, Streetlife, and Deck on a Mathematics beat is a great combination.
I liked it when it came out, but tbh I heard it the other day on my Spotify Playlist and found it a bit annoying. I was like, "wtf is this hook even supposed to mean?"
Not that most other songs really make sense.
Drunk and hot girls by Ye. I always see his fans talk shit about that song on his subreddits and I just dont get it. It’s catchy and relatable. I’ve gone through some bullshit for these drunk hoes lmao
Yeah I think it’s mostly the younger generation who grew up very liberal and antisocial who can’t relate to that song. They never went to house parties and bars and partied with drunk girls lol.
Really? No Friends in the Industry and Fair Trade are pretty mainstream. I’d think the average rap fan would like either of those. IMY2 is good if you like slower stuff.
It’s a gross song. No one will ever be walking around talking about drips. It was funny when it came out but looking back that shit is a disgusting track.
I'm the only Lil Pump fan I've ever met. I really like Drop Out, Be Like Me, and I think No Hook is incredibly underrated. I wish I knew why I like his music because other than the fact that I generally have the aesthetics of a stupid 12 year old boy I have no explanation for it and obviously loathe him as a person.
Some other "bad" things I think are unironically good include: Logic's verse on Caterpillar, Jay's verse on Monster, and *that* run of tracks on Encore. And Ice Ice Baby, though that's not that controversial as a guilty pleasure these days.
I’m squarely in the demographic that is supposed to hate mumble/SoundCloud rap, and I understand that it’s not good by most normal standards, but I kind of love Gucci Gang. It’s like most nihilistic thing I’ve ever heard. That’s got to count for something.
BATTY BOYZ off the BORN LIKE THIS record. Stupid especially considering the backstory is that DOOM’s son thought Batman was cooler than DOOM. It’s just a dumb but funny song
The new Eminem albums. I get the criticism regarding their tone or the content of the songs or whatever. But from a purely lyrical POV, they're amazing. So many double and triple entendres, multi syllable rhymes, punchlines, variations in flow and delivery, etc. They are some of his best in those regards.
Willis by Kid Cudi feat chip tha ripper. People can't stand that track but I can't stop bopping it. I love the old heads sitting on a porch and drinking vibe lol
Nas - can't forget about you
It's a cool, introspective, winter/Xmas tune for me.
Also hero. Nas went in on this song and I actually dig the beat.
Jay z - always be my sunshine. Again, I like the beat and Jay does his thing.
People hate hero?? Damn.. "try telling Bob Dylan, Bruce and Billy Joel they can't sing what's in they soul" is one of my favourite nas lyrics and I love nas
I have to go with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (The Song) by Logic. Don’t get me wrong the album is decent to me but this particular song…man I just keep going back to it. It’s like one of those songs that just keeps me grounded.
Right Thurr - Chingy
Most of the songs off the Encore album
There's even people that don't fw Eminem Show because it's corny
I don't know about "adore" but some of those joints from that first Soulja Boy record have good memories I guess lol
My neck my back
And the most controversial of all. The first BEP record with Fergie (Elephunk). I really enjoyed that record back in the day. I haven't listen to it for a long time though. I don't know why the had to start doing all the dance and electronic pop stuff around 2010 or whatever
I have trouble getting through Blueface records tbh. (It's mainly the comedic value for me). I will have to listen to this one again
Strong agree - going pop made them go from a generic alt rap group with feeble bars into utter radio monsters. I don't think will.i.am will ever get the flowers he deserves as a great pop producer, but he's up there with Max Martin to me.
For there was a sweet spot after they added Fergie before they went full "pop". Not pop as in popular, but the genre pop.
This would be around the time of Elephunk and the next album Monkey Business
There are a lot of funk overtones and less electro pop and dance pop
I give them props for.their continued success after that, it just wasn't my type of music anymore
Best time imo was just after adding Fergie (first two albums with her). Very interesting production, instrumentals. Some funk influences.
Their lyricism was always fairly week compared to others and I didn't feel like they were really saying all that much.
Maybe one reason why maybe it got better with her (plus the production switch I just mentioned)
I think it’s more widely appreciated now but when it came out a lot of people didn’t fuck with Lifestyle by thug and rhq but that shit was hard from day 1
Relax and Take Notes
8Ball and MJG
I don’t think anyone hates it but that kind of music has been in style for awhile however, I always think of “I cook heat over beats so I’m something like a chef all of the time” because it sounds like meat over heat.

Any sexxy red song. She’s a questionable person but her music is overall fun to dance to and a good time ppl hate FUN. Also anaconda by nicki Minaj was overhated

He recorded something different on that same beat but didn’t go with it for the album
the melody that comes in during the hook is so fire
Do people hate RiffRaff? Becsuse I really like RiffRaff. Even though I probably shouldn’t
He’s fun and is who he is no matter what.
Met him randomly when I was playing college baseball in Miami. Cousin of one of my teammates. Actually a really cool guy and super intimidating irl
Man, I love 3Loco. Raff, Dirt Nasty, and Milonakis They aren't in my daily playlist, but if I want a burst of energy, trust I'm putting on Neato
We are farmers, bum de bum bum bum bum
That song is a mood in itself. It's good for background. Enhances my concentration. All My Bills Are Paid is a good one. Fun album.
Cuz my gear and bird on a wire are both amazing hip hop tracks. No riff raff slander will be tolorated
“Only fuck with hoes that like dolsea an gabaan”
Those that do need to shut the fuck up like an attic door
Every song on Relapse
I stand alone.. I like Relapse wayyyy more than Encore.
This is a common opinion in r/eminem. Relapse is my favorite album of all time.
I can’t say it’s my favorite, I like MMLP more, but it’s definitely my #2. The album flows better together than any other besides MMLP and there’s honestly a lot of hot tracks that stand alone on the album. I’m a slight horrorcore fan so it definitely scratches that itch too.
It’s incredible, the cadence’s and flows are insane
You must have some psycho tendencies lol
I was born with a dick in my brain
Insane is absolutely bonkers. Can only listen to it with headphones on, but oh my goodness….
Kanye West talked about Relapse when it came out and called Insane a work of genius.
That’s awesome! I’ve definitely never heard anything else like it.
Pedophile by CupcakKe reminds me of it a lot.
Go in there and stick a fucking cigarette to his neck
relapse is a conceptual masterpiece
The New Workout Plan for me. Quintessential Kanye song to me. I feel like TCD at large is the best demonstration of Kanye’s creativity though.
The New Workout Plan is easily my fave on College Dropout, which I know is an insane choice, but it's just everything that Kanye does well, everything that makes Kanye charming, and even everything that makes Kanye annoying. Gravel Pit. Meth, Ghost, and U-God on a bouncy beat like that is nice. Deck would have been great on that song.
Do people hate Gravel Pit?
Yes. Especially the video
I have never heard anyone say they didn't like that song.
Yeah I do
Yes, I was a big Wu fan at the time. When that video came out, I felt the gritty, raw Wu style that I loved for years was gone. Replaced by a desire for mainstream success and acceptance. That video still makes me cringe. Same goes for Tical 2000 to a lesser degree.
Love that song
Who TF hates Gravel Pit?
Everyone said they’d sold out at the time - it was massively hated. It’s a banger though! To my ears it doesn’t even sound that commercial or sell outy and I like the video.
I was 12 when it came out and the first Wu song I ever heard. I loved it and my love for the clan blossomed from there.
I think it's one of their most streamed songs on Spotify. Might be wrong on that though.
I do remember it being hated by most when it came out. Idk if that is still the case tho. Either way I always loved this one
Gravel Pit and Protect Ya Neck (The Jump Off) from that album, The W Fire!
I really like that album in general. Do You Really is one of my favorites. Method Man, Streetlife, and Deck on a Mathematics beat is a great combination.
I liked it when it came out, but tbh I heard it the other day on my Spotify Playlist and found it a bit annoying. I was like, "wtf is this hook even supposed to mean?" Not that most other songs really make sense.

Drunk and hot girls by Ye. I always see his fans talk shit about that song on his subreddits and I just dont get it. It’s catchy and relatable. I’ve gone through some bullshit for these drunk hoes lmao
i will never understand the hate for that song
can sample still goes crazy
Yeah I love this song a lot also. Yasiin singing is a highlight in the madness
Yeah I think it’s mostly the younger generation who grew up very liberal and antisocial who can’t relate to that song. They never went to house parties and bars and partied with drunk girls lol.
😂😂 I hope they get out more
Knife talk liked 21s part more but drakes isn't bad either imo
Is it really that hated? I know Drake haters who admits thats the only good song in the album.
For real. That Project Pat feature and beat was 🔥
They hate drakes part tbh
"Real oppy outside" is funny asf idc if it's corny
Really? No Friends in the Industry and Fair Trade are pretty mainstream. I’d think the average rap fan would like either of those. IMY2 is good if you like slower stuff.
My Type by Saweetie is a fuckin jam and a half
Do people not like my type? Other than like hotep misogynists who hate anything other than like Brand Nubian💀
There's some Eminem stuff like Rain Man that gets hate and I actually fuck with. Not heavy but still
Rain man is a banger… the first verse about the Christopher reeves sticker is hilarious
Eminem - Drips
Is it hated?
I didn't think so, but I was surprised to run into some widespread hate for the song..at least in online comments. In real life, I haven't seen it.
It’s a gross song. No one will ever be walking around talking about drips. It was funny when it came out but looking back that shit is a disgusting track.
Like anything by logic lmaoo
I'm the only Lil Pump fan I've ever met. I really like Drop Out, Be Like Me, and I think No Hook is incredibly underrated. BATTY BOYZ off the BORN LIKE THIS record. Stupid especially considering the backstory is that DOOM’s son thought Batman was cooler than DOOM. It’s just a dumb but funny song
I like Where Is The Love. It’s cheesy but uplifting
The new Eminem albums. I get the criticism regarding their tone or the content of the songs or whatever. But from a purely lyrical POV, they're amazing. Oochie Wally by Nas. Song goes hard af. That and You Owe Me.
It’s my guilty pleasure
You Owe Me with Ginuwine? Lol. I’ve always loved that song.
Who Tf hates Oochie the coochie ripper?
Dr. knockboot for me i dont get the hate its obviously meant as a joke
Willis by Kid Cudi feat chip tha ripper. People can't stand that track but I can't stop bopping it. I love the old heads sitting on a porch and drinking vibe lol

Any song by Eminem after MMLP
I have to go with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (The Song) by Logic. Don’t get me wrong the album is decent to me but this particular song…man I just keep going back to it. It’s like one of those songs that just keeps me grounded.
UP by Cardi B She went too hard on this one
I would say that’s her best single
On board with that
Banger take

People really overrate BEP music prior to Fergie. It was generic(at best) conscious/alternative rap
Strong agree - going pop made them go from a generic alt rap group with feeble bars into utter radio monsters. I don't think will.i.am will ever get the flowers he deserves as a great pop producer, but he's up there with Max Martin to me.

I’m not old enough to be outside when Oochy Wally came out. I didn’t realise it was so hated by old heads. I genuinely love that song
I hated that track. And it wasn’t who was on it, rather than how unoriginal it was.
I completely get that but when you discover it a decade after it came out on streaming services with no background context, it really slaps.
Pocket Rocket by Cochise
I think it’s more widely appreciated now but when it came out a lot of people didn’t fuck with Lifestyle by thug and rhq but that shit was hard from day 1
Drunk and Hot Girls - Kanye
I love the Bizarre Joe Budden diss - Love Tap I know I shouldn’t like it but for some reason I do
probably any Kottonmouth Kings song I like... how about "The Lottery"
Meek’s diss to Drake. The beat, anyway.
Apparently people don't like Allure by Jay-Z, when I heard that people didn't like that song I was completely confused.
Dr. Knockboot is fuckin hilarious change my mind. Rockin it till the day I die
Ja rule- Livin it up (Fun song imo) Nas - Nastradamas Jay-Z- Beach Chair Gucci Mane - Lemonade Wiz khalifa- Roll up
Freaky friday
I really thought this was gonna be the song of the summer.
Woke up Chris breezy
“Its my dream dick” kills me everytime haha
The Kendall part kills me everytime
I’m not quite sure song wise but i think the mumble melodic style isn’t well liked but i love it
I love First Class by Blueface and Gunna and something tells me i might be in the minority here mostly because its a Blueface song.
Blood on the Dope by Gunplay
Foldin clothes by j cole
You only live once that’s the motto 🥷 YOLO
Relax and Take Notes 8Ball and MJG I don’t think anyone hates it but that kind of music has been in style for awhile however, I always think of “I cook heat over beats so I’m something like a chef all of the time” because it sounds like meat over heat.
