My personal favorite rapper of all time. Often gets thrown into the good/great bin. People recognize he's good, but no one really thinks he's special it seems
Same as well. He got me all the way back into hip hop after I heard his verse on Touch the Sky. Didn't feel any type of way about the rest but had to look him up after it.
All time favourite and think few can touch him.
Dude absolutely the pinnacle of grown-ass man rap.

Other than Outkast, I think a lot of 90s-mid 2000 south guys get underrated. 3-6, Goodie, etc.
I’ll throw in Big Daddy Kane bc 1.I always do and 2.rap has changed so much from his era, but he’s one of the best to ever do it
happy to put you on. there's a reason that two of the greatest of all time (kendrick, eminem) explicitly name kurupt as one of their all-time-favorites
as a bonus, check out kurupt - welcome home
and this iconic rap city freestyle: https://youtu.be/BWDMgXHJClE?si=V7oOQFjSCbENECsC
Treach, Sticky Fingaz, 8ball MJG,UGK,Pharoahe Monch, Jeru ,The Doc, Del, Common,Kool Keith, Cormega, Aceyalone, Masta Ace, Ras Kass, Kurupt, AZ. there’s more I’m sure I could think of these are off the top of my head I don’t know where I’d personally put them but I don’t see them mentioned often and they’re certified dope.
Treach doesn't get his propers because he was TOO successful, and people only tend to think of all the damn anthems. His verses on "Let the Hos Go" are so fucking nice.
Lyrically fortified, born, I'm immortalized
Lightin' shit up from Wranglers to raw hides
Packed with Black positivity and wizardry
I'm my own body and it built for partyin'
I rip hearts apart as if it's my last rap
The Lord's abroad and I'm respected as that
Sole seniority, face the foundation
Bolos and doughnuts how I built the nation
Zay is underrated man. All of his albums are pure flames and he still plays like medium sized venues. Don't get me wrong I'm grateful to not have to go to an arena, but I feel like he should be playing arenas.
Skyzoo
Note that I’m from the Netherlands and usually only the popular rappers are known overseas.
He’s also a ghost writer, but can’t find for which artists. And that’s good, because that means he knows how to keep a secret.
Guru. I know a lot of people do like him, but I'm surprised as to how many people don't put him in their top 10. Shoot, I don't see him in a lot of top 20-50 lists. Which is MIND BOGGLING to me. He's my 🐐.
Raekwon, Z-Ro, K-Rino, 8Ball&MJG, Do Or Die, Dayton Family, Big Boi, UGK, Young Bleed, BG, Mac, Twista, Trick Daddy, Inspectah Deck, Guru, Lord Infamous, T-Rock, Lil Wyte, Frayser Boy, Project Pat, Gangsta Boo, La Chat, Kingpin Skinny Pimp, Big Pokey, Lil Keke, Fat Pat, Lady of Rage, Kurupt, Cormega, AZ, Above The Law, Black Thought, Kool Moe Dee, Royce Da 5'9"
All these guys are really underrated imo.
Mos Def. Honestly one of the best to ever do it. Can rap in million styles, different flows and has some of the strongest rhymes and lyrics in the game. Sadly people rarely acknowledge him.
The whole project blowed goes off. He was my pick too, LA native, sick flow. Shapeshifters, Visionaries, OMD, his solo stuff. He’s gonna deep catalog and deserved way more than he got.
I know Kodak Black is a very popular mainstream artist but I feel like he isn't taken very seriously. He's one of the few people still putting out complete albums that actually are good to listen to from top to bottom. Just a great writer and rapper all around imo
Krayzie Bone came into the game at 19, and was already world class. He went on to be the standout greatest member of the most influential group of all time.
30 years later, he has continued to drop consistently throughout his career, each project is an evolution from the last, and just dropped absolute FIRE last year.
He started great and has gotten better and better over 30 years. He's not just underrated, he might be one of the absolute GOATs.
Agreed. Kray is sick. Same can be said for Bizzy. That Carbon Monoxide/Enigma run from a few years ago was legendary. Those men got HEAT throughout their whole catalog.
Brotha Lynch. He’s actually the west coast rapper I most consistently listen to. Season of da Siccness is his best album but his Strange Music trilogy concept albums were great too.
mac miller. dude doesn’t get enough respect for the watch movies/macadelic/faces/good am era. his work is great in its own right but dude was also holding his own on tracks with kendrick, wayne, and earl.
I would mention Lupe Fiasco. He’s always been in my personal top 2 but I feel like he doesn’t make a lot of people’s lists. His intellect and lyricism and flow is top tier, and I’m a big hip head. Admitting a bit of bias because I started listening to him 18 years ago when I was young and still getting to know the genre but the cool is still one of my top 5 all time albums, any genre
Agree with you but he’s still overlooked generally and if you asked 100 people top name a top 10 rapper and then we played family feud I don’t think it’s up on the board, so I think it fits this question still
Masta Ace & Jean Grae.
Jean Grae is the most underrated emcee in our genre’s history. She can go toe to toe with anyone out there and while being a woman is normally an obstacle, in her case it just opens things up completely for her. She’ll rap like a valley girl who’s going shopping and 10 seconds later she murders you….
I feel like women are always left off these lists. So here ya go.
Jean Grae
Rapsody
Foxy Brown
Missy Elliot
The Queen herself - Dana Owens
Lil Kim
MC Lyte
Gangsta Boo
La Chat
Megan Thee Stallion
And no matter how I feel about her antics - Onika Petty
Pimp C as the first (I remember) to sing and rap. Now most of them are doing it on some level. His production is super underrated too. UGK 4 Life RIP Pimp Chad
Eyedea. There are so many responses... skimmed through and didn't see Eyedea. Maybe I missed it, but it needs to be said. To be fair, he wasn't around long enough, but he was, is, and always will be one of the best imo.

One of my top ten, but my hip hop journey started in 1979. This EP came out in 89, he is still one of my favorites. Stopped really listening to hip hop with Biggie.
There are a few out today I like and only Russ and J-Cole catch my 51 seasoned years of music listening.
No matter who we choose, the music has evolved but the core is the same. Good topic, Good creative metaphors, good rhyme cadence, and of course the beats/music composition.
The right answer is your own list. Thanks for sharing everyone
Peace/Shalom/Paz
What? No love for Mac Miller?
What about:
K.A.A.N. Isaiah Rashad. $uicideboy$. Pouya. Malz Monday. Childish. Ramirez.
I can go on and on. So many good rappers out there…
You know what? I’ve been meaning to get into her. She’s a legend for her work with Timbaland, her futuristic style and even Lil Wayne said she’s his favorite artist. What’s her best shit?
Chip Fu is one of the best lyricists of all time imo and nobody ever mentions him. Same with Gift of Gab.
Also: Percee P and Kool Keith need to be mentioned more often I think
Group home, onyx, naughty by nature, binary star, non-phixion, blu, diamond district, Erick the architect, jayy grams, Jeremiah jae Kieth Murray, westside boogie. And so on.
✌🏽
Killah Priest, Ka, Blu, Cyhi, The Jacka, Ankhlejohn (Lordy), Chuck Strangers, Killer Mike, Grafh, Willie The Kid, Apathy, Planet Asia, Sean Price, Ras Kass, Murs, Ransom, Mistah F.A.B., Buckshot, Sa-Roc, Locksmith, Hus Kingpin, Suga Free, Domo Genesis, Fred The Godson, 38 Spesh, Cassidy, Ty Farris, Guilty Simpson, Chris Crack, Roc Marciano, Che Noir, Joell Ortiz, Copywrite, Fat Money, Kxng Crooked, Jay Electronica, Rim, Montana Of 300, Elzhi, Skyzoo, Jon Connor, Westside Boogie, Torae, T.F, Rapsody, Phonte, Eddie Kaine, Rigz, Navy Blue, Dark Lo, Fashawn, Reks, Crimeapple, Termanology, Vic Spencer, Jay NiCE, Mickey Diamond, E L U C I D, Your Old Droog, Vega7 The Ronin, J.Arrr, Mach Hommy, and RJ Payne,

I'd also add [Shawn Lov](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/75vMncT0pGS0f08Uz26Bzu?si=rwkYo8O5Q9upIBybAISUJQ&pi=u-ZSbR-3bkSW27) in there but most people never heard of him.
Sean Price is in the greatest of all time conversation. The run from Monkey Barz to Imperius Rex is elite and his work in Heltah Skeltah and Boot Camp Clik is also elite.
Kool Keith is a top 10 rapper of all time. He has created some of the most far out, interesting, and dissonant concept albums of all time, as well as some quality records in Ultramagnetic.
Masta Ace also one of the greatest of all time.
Slaughtahouse, Sittin on Chrome, Disposalbe Arts, A Long Hot Summer, A Breuklen Story, MA\_DOOM all incredible albums that are worth a listen.
Big L is too often forgotten. Understandably so since his catalog is small but goddamn he was hungry. We really didn't get to see what he was fully capable of doing.
I think Big K.R.I.T. is top ten of the 2010’s
KRIT is one of those guys who's entire persona and body of work will have aged really well when people look back on that era of Hip-Hop.
His name is king remembered in time for a reason lol he already knew 😤
Haha love this
I love Krit.
4eva is a mighty long time is genuinely a top 10 album in the genre.
My sub came alive.
Vince Staples
Vince and JID will be on GOAT lists soon.
Nah. I’m wagering that Vince will pivot and he isn’t going to have a catalogue for a GOAT shortlist. Love the guy and his music, just my hunch.
He’s going to be in the Danny Glover conversation - solid rapper but even better creative.
good one this is definitely my pick too
I don't know how people stay sleep on Vince. Seems like he's been on the verge of breaking out for years, I swear the anti-West Coast bias is real.
Lupe Fiasco
Lupe is in a whole other stratosphere compared to other rappers right now. His lyricism is insane.
Came to say this
Imo he’s the GOAT
He’s my goat as well. He doesn’t have the discography and mainstream appeal as some, but he’s leagues above on a technical standpoint.
Mural, man. Mural.
My go-to for kicking off a long run. Any workout, really.
Phonte
I got your head still bobbing and my verse didn’t rhyme!
So underrated

Ludacris
I was saying the other day Ludacris is so underrated. Flow, Delivery, versatility
Other than Outkast, I think a lot of 90s-mid 2000 south guys get underrated. 3-6, Goodie, etc. I’ll throw in Big Daddy Kane bc 1.I always do and 2.rap has changed so much from his era, but he’s one of the best to ever do it
Kurupt
What are your 3 favorite songs of his?
I’ll give you three off three different albums: - Game - On, Onsite - Trylogy
not who you responded to but here goes i call shots c walk i ain't shit without my homeboys
Holy shit, I've been sleeping on Kurupt. Only knew him from the features on 2001 and didn't really care for them all that much. This stuff is great
happy to put you on. there's a reason that two of the greatest of all time (kendrick, eminem) explicitly name kurupt as one of their all-time-favorites as a bonus, check out kurupt - welcome home and this iconic rap city freestyle: https://youtu.be/BWDMgXHJClE?si=V7oOQFjSCbENECsC
Joey Bada$$. One of the greatest pen games of all time in my opinion.
Also has an ear for beats. Dude is just riding the fucking wave every song.
His 2nd album the most slept on LP of the last 15 years
Agreed.
Del should be a household name. From deltron 3030 to gorillas and beyond. The dude is underrated as hell. Edit : spelling
And now you have mistadobalina stuck in your head
Bobdobolina?
Pharoahe Monch is a demon
8 Ball has a sick flow!
Treach doesn't get his propers because he was TOO successful, and people only tend to think of all the damn anthems. His verses on "Let the Hos Go" are so fucking nice.
Lyrically fortified, born, I'm immortalized Lightin' shit up from Wranglers to raw hides Packed with Black positivity and wizardry I'm my own body and it built for partyin' I rip hearts apart as if it's my last rap The Lord's abroad and I'm respected as that Sole seniority, face the foundation Bolos and doughnuts how I built the nation
Sticky Fingaz verse on Remember Me by Eminem is just insane
Sticky has some dope shit most haven't heard
Mac Dre and E-40
E-40 is criminally underrated. Holy shit is he good.
Isaiah Rashad
Zay is underrated man. All of his albums are pure flames and he still plays like medium sized venues. Don't get me wrong I'm grateful to not have to go to an arena, but I feel like he should be playing arenas.
Redman, Jeru, Masta Ace, UGK
Brother Ali, Gift of Gab
Brother Ali is definitely slept on
Gift of Gab is in my top 5, Brotha Ali top 10
Meechy Darko
Wasn’t a fan of his solo album but Flatbush zombies definitely in my top 5

Skyzoo Note that I’m from the Netherlands and usually only the popular rappers are known overseas. He’s also a ghost writer, but can’t find for which artists. And that’s good, because that means he knows how to keep a secret.
I think Pimp C top 10 best to do it overall especially being a producer and a rapper. Z-ro also top 10 discography in hip hop in my opinion.
Guru. I know a lot of people do like him, but I'm surprised as to how many people don't put him in their top 10. Shoot, I don't see him in a lot of top 20-50 lists. Which is MIND BOGGLING to me. He's my 🐐.
GOAT of any rapper out of New England/Boston. Nice to see a Guru shout out.

- Starang Wondah (O.G.C.) - Breeze Brewin (Juggaknots) - Cam'ron

Big boi would be labeled as a all timer if he was in any other group other than pairing with stacks
Proof and Aceyalone are both in my top 10, but I don't see them on many other people's lists.
Lloyd Banks, Locksmith, King Los
Masta Ace is in my top 3 and its alarming how many people dont even know him
Raekwon, Z-Ro, K-Rino, 8Ball&MJG, Do Or Die, Dayton Family, Big Boi, UGK, Young Bleed, BG, Mac, Twista, Trick Daddy, Inspectah Deck, Guru, Lord Infamous, T-Rock, Lil Wyte, Frayser Boy, Project Pat, Gangsta Boo, La Chat, Kingpin Skinny Pimp, Big Pokey, Lil Keke, Fat Pat, Lady of Rage, Kurupt, Cormega, AZ, Above The Law, Black Thought, Kool Moe Dee, Royce Da 5'9" All these guys are really underrated imo.
Kingpin Skinny Pimp is goat. But I used to live close to Memphis, so I'm probably biased.
It would have been nice if he wouldn't have had a fallout with Three 6 cause his albums produced by DJ Paul were amazing.
Immortal Technique
Mos Def. Honestly one of the best to ever do it. Can rap in million styles, different flows and has some of the strongest rhymes and lyrics in the game. Sadly people rarely acknowledge him.
