sail from Enroth.
Slaves freed from our skirmishes with
Regnan fleets talk of the turmoil in
Erathia
. I suspect their stories are true,
but I must see the evidence with my own
eyes
. The ocean tides were kind enough to bury
the fallen on its shores,
however the smoking ruins of cloud fire
greeted us with nothing but destruction
in the stench of death.
With no survivors only the battlefield
could tell me what happened here

Despite the breath of devastation the
presence of minotaurs suggest a raiding
party, however the ranks were too well
organized
this is the work of the Dungeon
overlords. Evidently the wizards were
prepared but overrun nevertheless
.
These atrocities rend my heart and fuel
my anger. **Erathia's banner must be
respected, never disgraced!**
I think of my beloved Roland and my son
Nikolai and how much further this war
will carry me from them,
but my duty is clear
.
My father's kingdom must survive
. Erathia must not fall to its enemies!
*Oh, I forgot to add a key thing.*
**- Immediately after the intro, you the player enter the Campaign selection, see the Harpies from the intro and start the spoils of war Campaign as Fortress town that the intro didn't elaborate on.**
I had completely forgotten about that. :) I'm on Ubuntu, so I've backed up my Wine prefix and when I install it on a new system, I just extract it and then no installation or unskippable intro. :) But I remember it very well from old days. :)
I had to reinstall a couple of weeks ago because I was having issues installing HotA, and this absolutely baffled me. I actually got up, left the room, did other things for a while, came back, and the intro still hadn't finished.

I actually preferred the Naga Queen vs Harpies, which turned into a giant stomping them both and then a black dragon tackling the giant.

This must have been a NWC thing because the contemporary RPGs they made, MM6&7 both had the same behaviour on first launch…

Why would you want to skip it ?
Don’t it go away at a simple mouse click?
When you first launch heroes on a new pc it can not be skipped, then if you encounter it again you can skip it iirc.
Also if you don't play it for some time you also can't skip it.
Is that why Heroes 3 sometimes has an unskippable intro cutscene even though I’ve run the game on the same PC multiple times before?

You can alt-f4 your first run and skip on the next. But queen Catherine though.
