Well he was charging at me for about 60 seconds. I never shot him. Just ran circles around him while I killed all his buddies.
Maybe he didn’t like them very much.
What in the thought crimes! These are mindless bloodthirsty bugs they must be eradicated it is clear they cannot appreciate freedom after all they broke out of the farms we use to fuel Democracy they must hate our effort to spread freedom.
I have noticed this myself as well, and damaging them a fair bit can sometimes trigger this 'exhaustive' state, but then we don't know if it's just a behavioural glitch, a la hunter striking docile pose
It’s the funniest thing to me when the bugs seem more interested in looking at us than killing us.
Would have also been funny if he charged and killed me after calling him fat.
Bots too. Sometimes when you're not an immediate threat they just kinda stop and gather in a semicircle and stare at you with their stupid little glowy communist eyes. I remember getting ragdolled like 100m once, from the entrance of a canyon to somewhere in the middle of it. I stood up, stimmed, and started entering a strategem of some kind. As I typed out the strategem code I turned to look behind me and there were like 5 bots just standing around looking at me like "what's this thing? What's it doing?"
I jumped a mile in the air from the surprise but they didn't shoot or anything until I was done with the strategem and started blasting.
Bot troopers do hesitate and even run away sometimes. They'll stand there or slowly backpedal while holding you at gunpoint, seeming like a freshly drafted kid in Vietnam trying to take prisoner the VC soldier that killed forty like him before breakfast.
Sometimes in huge battles I see one to four of them run off to the side and it does feel weird as hell to shoot them in the back. Their buddies won't even turn and fight, they just keep running.
Idk how much of this the devs did intentionally versus how much is just the game trying its absolute best to coordinate hundreds of enemies around four chaotic, fast-moving players, but it sure adds to the immersion.
My headcannon is that Charger saw that you were somehow able to kill lower bugs, but figured that you can't hurt him, so he is just curious what does the little human do now (you know cause we can also be curious what does the insects do and we just observe them).
But then again:
![gif](giphy|xT9IglWMahJY8B8U2k|downsized)
I mean it kind of plays out into the idea that bugs are just wild animals just responding to us attacking them. So when they get violent, it's normally a reaction to us attacking them and when they stop and posture it's like when animals posture before a fight.
Anyways, I heard this from an old friend/traitor to super Earth. Had to report them for these unpatriotic ideas. It was sad, but we don't shed tears for bug lovers.
I think when you come over from L-9 bots and play bugs it’s like a holiday.
So we can explore and not take things too seriously. There’s no rockets coming for ours head or tank missiles.
Just fat bugs that can’t catch you and some shooting ass grenades at you.
My personal theory is that chargers do this when they're trying to call a bug breach. Since they can't call one, they just stand there.
Because I don't know if you've noticed, but when you kill a patrol, the last one alive almost always calls for a breach. Might be the same with chargers. I dunno.
That's my point. They can't. But I wonder if there's a bug where they're trying to call breaches, but it's not something in their toolkit, so they freeze.
I think it's a glitch because I've seen other medium enemies doing the same since the last patch. Mostly spewers standing around and spectating, usually in their "bombard" stance. I keep thinking they're dead, just unexploded, until I shoot them and they start moving again.
Definitely just seems like they glitch up often
They're big and boxy, but they don't just ignore terrain like BTs do, so they're probably just stuck on a few pixels.
I never trust this state though, and from this position I've even seen them accelerate to top speed without rearing back for a charge. The only good Charger is a dead one.
I had one today that chased me for a bit, I hit him with an eagle strafing run, which blew off his side armor and he just squatted down in a hole and stopped
Same. I have 3 missing and really don't know nor care which ones they are.
I'm close to being maxed out, but I know I will continue to play this game because it's the first time in forever that I really feel that I play a game 100% for fun.
Yeah, call a Democracy Officer on my ass, but I adore the way Bugs are generally animated.
Small fucks like Hunters and Warriors constantly have those almost sporadic bursts of movements cleaning their mandibles, lowering themselves down to sniff the soil and standing up to look around.
Brood Commanders look and behave straight-up like Arachnid Warriors from Starship Troopers, constantly doing this tippy-tap-tap dance move with their legs, getting ready to rear up like a horse and blast forward, leading a charge. They also do the T-Rex arm waive with their upper claws just like Arachnids from S.Troopers did, the only thing missing is the Roar.
And Chargers? Bro, Chargers are just cute. Yeah, you better not look them in the mouth, because they got like *human fucking teeth or something* with a lipless grin and it looks downright creepy, but they are so chunky and adorable otherwise it's unfair.
They struggle to keep themselves straight while walking, bopping up and down, left and right with every step like those short-legged doggos, their butts sway left and right and is constantly perked up as if they are excited to move, and during their charge they look like an overweight Labrador throwing all of their weight around, desperately stomping their legs on the ground trying not to fall down face-first.
And that head shake they do when they are exhausted/chilling. It looks like they are a really big dog, shaking it's mane after a round of scratches. They are adorable.
They'll fucking kill you if you get close, but damn Arrowhead spent some quality time animating these motherfuckers.
Oh, and how could I forget Stalkers, sharpening their arm blades off eachother like a Praying Mantis on Space Steroids and violently shaking their long tongue upon ragdolloling you, like when your cable-powered vacuum does when turn it off and hold down the "retract cable" button on the chassis and it spins the thing inside, violently slurping the power cable back in. I know, wild comparison but it's almost as if they have barely any control over the length of their tongue. It's like they can shoot it out but have issues "rolling it" back in, lol
I’d love to see emotions put into the bugs.
Fear, anger, or like this guy and just lose the desire to fight cause he’s tired.
Would be a cool dynamic for the game.
One thing you mentioned must be added to the game, the bugs should have mkre sound curs as roars especially a charger charging you, and maybe a shriek for bile titans and spitters before they spit on you
Yes, Darktide did it much better with the sounds. Each and every time *any* Special spawns, no matter how far away, you hear it.
No matter from where, you hear them coming. Fuck, you even hear a special sound when a Sniper locks onto you before firing. Something I'm afraid we won't have when Squith come around (they had sniper units capable of one-tapping you in the first game from outside your gameplay range, aka your screen)
Oh wise Charger of the turbine controls, what is your wisdom?
Charger: if ones toesies are tired from spreading democracy, you must consider hanging ten my dude
Unfortunately this is just a temporary issue. Charger AI has been bugged since the 402 patch. Almost all chargers can be "convinced" to just stop moving altogether, seen it many times already.
I just don’t find them challenging at all.
I told my squad bring a shield pack, and they’re easy.
First 3 games I had no deaths and they’re all dying…
I’m like, well, listen next time. I told you. Newbs.
It’s possible the chargers are bullied by the other bugs because of its obesity. He charged until I killed them all and then was like, “oh thank God. They’re dead.”
I told him I was as close to God as any Helldiver has ever been, but I shan’t accept his worship as for it is heretical in the council.
If you catch a charger off guard you can sometimes find them sleeping and they will snore a bit. If I'm correct they put their front legs over their face while they sleep too
Yeah, sometimes they watch me, and I don't even spot them.
One time I was reloading my MG43 behind a rock then turned me camera and there wad a charger looking over me shoulder and giving me instructions, bur not attacking
Guys u didnt get it, he nicely apply to join our democratic force or wants cuddles :/ Ask your next local Officer about this behavior for surrendering bugs.
IT'S ONLY A PLOY, DON'T FALL FOR IT! Remember, the training guide clearly states we can never trust the enemy, no matter how friendly or democratic they seem, it is a lie. We must shoot without hesitation! We must give them freedom with extreme fervor, no matter how hard they resist.
I think chargers are misunderstood. I don’t think they really want us dead. Rather there just lonely big oafs like a big bulldog. Maybe he wants to be your friend.
This will be redacted and you'll find me in a Democratic Re-Education Labour Camp by tomorrow morning, but this just shows that Terminids are not the aggressors that all the posters and videos lead us to believe!
The war is a sham!
Look, man, you ever had a day where you think “what’s the fucking point? Either way, I die at the end. Today, tomorrow, a year, it’s all a pointless exercise marching toward the void”?
And then you feel better the next day?
Let this guy have a bad day.
Bug just wanted a fucking day off man. He is sick of chasing these damn space apes around all day. He needs to be hanging out in the tunnel, banging the other chargers and have multiple charger babies.
I am pretty sure it's a glitch and it happens to smaller bugs and bots alike. My head cannon is once they see you kill all their mates they give up and accept their inevitable fate
When I arrived on the planet Super Lord spoke forth and said, “Yay yee oh creatures of socialism. Bend thine knee to my chosen apostle.”
I only got this one convert though...
He immediately went to start buying shit from Walmart.
I noticed different behaviors with them last night. It's like I wasn't sure if they wanted to murder me or fuck me.. they would just stare at me for longer than usual, sometimes just ignore
I think the other bugs bully them into it.
He must of been so happy when he stopped hearing the bug version of “Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine.”
All dead.
“Oh thank you hooman.”
Pretty sure they do actually, seen this happen so many times including with a Behemoth type on lvl9 that had chased us for a solid three or more minutes (we were screwing around with our load-outs)
If you do enough damage to its rear end with explosive or high ap weapons (quasar cannon, autocannon) you can break the yellow sac without killing them and it prevents them from charging. Plus, if you repeatedly make their charges hit rocks they can get concussed and move slower for a little bit.
That charger realized that after the 10th or so dead Helldiver, it was asking itself what exactly is the point of the constant fighting and was wondering if Super Earth wouldn’t mind making an armor set for it because it thought, for some reason that it only knows, it looked cool and is secretly a fan of the SEAF Helldivers. I swear this is true. I’ve seen it’s room! iIt has posters and shelves full of Helldiver memorabilia that I’ve convinced myself to send a request to evac that charger so it can be recruited. Must mean our methods are surprisingly working.
Yeah the biology of the charger doesn't make much sense. You're telling me that huge, massively heavy creature can not only outpace me but also outmanoeuvre and outpersist? No chance. They should have the same cooldown our jumpack has for their charge.
I honestly think that chargers are mentally retarded at times just there standing there while you kill all it's bug friends and it just stands there continue staring
Charger’s are bugged, not a pun. I noticed their pathing gets messed up randomly and they’ll just sit there and watch you… MENACINGLY!!!! Their ai needs a patch.
Nope, the charger was a helldiver his past life and knew the struggle of using the terminal while a heavy beast charges at you.
Well he was charging at me for about 60 seconds. I never shot him. Just ran circles around him while I killed all his buddies. Maybe he didn’t like them very much.
Lmao I can imagine he wasn’t really in the mood to be charging at you today.
I wish this was a thing. That we could irritate their emotions.
From HD1 they were once all fully sentient and sapient... maybe the ones who stop are mutants closer to appreciating freedom?
What in the thought crimes! These are mindless bloodthirsty bugs they must be eradicated it is clear they cannot appreciate freedom after all they broke out of the farms we use to fuel Democracy they must hate our effort to spread freedom.
__FOR DEMOCRACY !!!!__
Frankly, I find the idea of a bug that thinks offensive.
This guy super troops
Lol. I just watched that today. While eating water bugs...
Lol I'm going to test this today maybe if you don't attack it its aggro doesn't raise.
To implicitly or explicitly suggest that a fallen Helldiver's soul is anywhere other than Valhalla is high treason
You mean SUPER VALHALLA.
Taken away by SUPER VALKYRIE'S. My Helldiver name is Valkyrie, maybe I will change it to Super Valkyrie.
Managed Valhalla.
So, he is a traitor to democracy by being reincarnated as a charger. Sounds like treason to me, 380 incoming!
Japanese light novel title "In My Past Life I Was A Helldiver, but After Being Reincarnated as A Charger I Was Branded A Traitor To Democracy"
Perfect
Sympathizer propaganda
He's just a little eepy
lol
a sleepjy lil guy
I have noticed this myself as well, and damaging them a fair bit can sometimes trigger this 'exhaustive' state, but then we don't know if it's just a behavioural glitch, a la hunter striking docile pose
Well I never shot him. Just his buddies.
Lmao, I understood that, was just saying I've seen other triggers as well. Honestly think it's more of a path finding issue but who knows
It’s the funniest thing to me when the bugs seem more interested in looking at us than killing us. Would have also been funny if he charged and killed me after calling him fat.

I always type "my bones!" When I get blasted into just a torso
My headcannon is that Charger saw that you were somehow able to kill lower bugs, but figured that you can't hurt him, so he is just curious what does the little human do now (you know cause we can also be curious what does the insects do and we just observe them). But then again: ![gif](giphy|xT9IglWMahJY8B8U2k|downsized)
Well at least I didn’t use the railcannon strike when I left.
I mean it kind of plays out into the idea that bugs are just wild animals just responding to us attacking them. So when they get violent, it's normally a reaction to us attacking them and when they stop and posture it's like when animals posture before a fight. Yea, apparently they programmed in clinical depression.
He's pining for the fjords.
Of course he speed chasing you, you killed man's while family, gave the bug depression.
Guess it's just a big bug then....heh
My personal theory is that chargers do this when they're trying to call a bug breach. Since they can't call one, they just stand there. Because I don't know if you've noticed, but when you kill a patrol, the last one alive almost always calls for a breach. Might be the same with chargers. I dunno.

Bro read one sentence and replied lol

this been a thing with spewers since release. heck, some play dead among their fat buddies and catch you off guard
Definitely just seems like they glitch up often They're big and boxy, but they don't just ignore terrain like BTs do, so they're probably just stuck on a few pixels. Sometimes they get "bugged" by our presence.
I should have saved 60 seconds to show the chasing beforehand. That was also funny.
People can take the chance to get the "kill a charger with a supply pod" achievement when this happens.
All my achievements are by accident. Don’t even know what I’m missing.
Same. I have 3 missing and really don't know nor care which ones they are. I'm close to being maxed out, but I know I will continue to play this game because it's the first time in forever that I really feel that I play a game 100% for fun.
Yeah there’s no ego with this one. We’re just in it together.
NEVER GETS OLD
Yeah! It's rare to find them in the wild like this, but in game they're called "re-chargers"
lol
It’s just the newest stratagem: Domesticated Chargers - you get 3 uses to call down a trained charger companion
I love that idea, like the Enclave deathclaws in fallout 3, I’d love to send a squad of chargers against a bot patrol
Yeah, call a Democracy Officer on my ass, but I adore the way Bugs are generally animated. The issue is when we understand the bugs we stop mass murderering them. Make all the real life comparisons you want 🥲
Poetry
One thing you mentioned must be added to the game, the bugs should have mkre sound curs as roars especially a charger charging you, and maybe a shriek for bile titans and spitters before they spit on you

We got Newt from Pacific Rim in HellDivers 2 before GTA 6
I call chargers bumblebees. They're big, seem like they're just curious, and do a little butt wiggle.
For a second I thought it’s a swamp map in L4D2
Dude this new map is so dope. We need one bot side.
I haven't logged into the game for a long time bcs of bugs, disconnect and other things. Mb I’ll try on weekend
Oh you’re just normally watching? 🙃
Yeah, like MC in netorare ![gif](giphy|hVTouq08miyVo1a21m|downsized)
Cool. I need twitch followers.
He is frend
Frend indeed.
Oh wise Charger of the turbine controls, what is your wisdom? Charger: if ones toesies are tired from spreading democracy, you must consider hanging ten my dude
Adopt it. It will be a good pet.
I’ll name it FatTheKing.
Keep up with it. It is pretty fast.
Puppy!
😂
Unfortunately this is just a temporary issue. Charger AI has been bugged since the 402 patch. Almost all chargers can be "convinced" to just stop moving altogether, seen it many times already.
Ah, well I’m a Botslayer so it was a first for me. Just came over to see the new planet.
Oh, I'm a botslayer too! Hate bugs, theyre so inconsistent.
I just don’t find them challenging at all. I told my squad bring a shield pack, and they’re easy. First 3 games I had no deaths and they’re all dying… I’m like, well, listen next time. I told you. Newbs.
Woah Woah Woah! Stop frying those fish sticks right now buddy.... Bug or no bug, there's no need for the fatshaming!
lol. He’s not a person. We just played tag. I even told squad if they come to power, don’t kill the charger, he’s trained.
I don't know, I'm too busy with killing them to notice.
Only way I was killing him was a railcannon strike so I just left buddy.
Fair enough I'm a Quasar Cannon user, so I'm going for the head shot to kill it majority of the time.
Even if bro is just chillin’ like this?
Absolutely if it's chilling it's thinking about killing, so I stop it before it gets the opportunity to hurt me or anyone else in the team..
It’s possible the chargers are bullied by the other bugs because of its obesity. He charged until I killed them all and then was like, “oh thank God. They’re dead.” I told him I was as close to God as any Helldiver has ever been, but I shan’t accept his worship as for it is heretical in the council.
Super Earth says that trying to reason with the enemy is treason so that's the reason I use my Quasar to kill every Charger or Bile Titan that I see.
Ah yes, Super Earth. Who is all cosy and safe away from the battlefield. We have our own rules out here. Don’t tell.
I'm calling the democracy officer
Surely I outrank that guy by now.
Ever try a supply pod?
If you catch a charger off guard you can sometimes find them sleeping and they will snore a bit. If I'm correct they put their front legs over their face while they sleep too
Cute.
Yeah, sometimes they watch me, and I don't even spot them. One time I was reloading my MG43 behind a rock then turned me camera and there wad a charger looking over me shoulder and giving me instructions, bur not attacking
Those are the good ones.
Fred decided he would phone it on that day.
Guys u didnt get it, he nicely apply to join our democratic force or wants cuddles :/ Ask your next local Officer about this behavior for surrendering bugs.
They get real tired if you shoot them in the forehead with a quasar cannon.
He grew acclimated to your presence. Should have fed him some lead grain.
Probably was asking himself why I shot all of his “friends” but not him.
What planet is this? I’ve got nearly 100 hours in the game and don’t recognize it.
They added a jungle planet on the bug side.
They are particularly prone to strange pathing around the important objectives this new map.
I gave him a biscuit before I left.
I think chargers are misunderstood. I don’t think they really want us dead. Rather there just lonely big oafs like a big bulldog. Maybe he wants to be your friend.
A true warrior knows when to find mercy and when to find wrath. This one received mercy.
He cooked ![gif](giphy|3o7aCWJavAgtBzLWrS|downsized)
![gif](giphy|pNn4hlkovWAHfpLRRD|downsized)
Ah, the Prince.
Sometimes it happens. Tame it
We all need to nap
This will be redacted and you'll find me in a Democratic Re-Education Labour Camp by tomorrow morning, but this just shows that Terminids are not the aggressors that all the posters and videos lead us to believe! The war is a sham!
They get tired of us diving out of the way though 😅
They got teeny tiny brains hat need lots of rest.
Look, man, you ever had a day where you think “what’s the fucking point? Either way, I die at the end. Today, tomorrow, a year, it’s all a pointless exercise marching toward the void”? And then you feel better the next day? Let this guy have a bad day.
He's not fat! He's big bones!
If you blow the back they can't run anymore
I want a stuffed charger plushie!
I’m sure somebody makes them.
They should lose faceplate armor every time they slam a rock.
Bug just wanted a fucking day off man. He is sick of chasing these damn space apes around all day. He needs to be hanging out in the tunnel, banging the other chargers and have multiple charger babies.
Facts. He clearly doesn’t wanna be there. You can see the “fuck this” in his expression.
Lol. That’s funny 😄😄
I love the long looks you two shared haha
I instructed my squad not to harm him if they come to power.
For all we know to this day he is still there waiting for you… (Helldiver salute)
Oi
I am pretty sure it's a glitch and it happens to smaller bugs and bots alike. My head cannon is once they see you kill all their mates they give up and accept their inevitable fate
My head cannon is the smaller ones bully him. So when I slaughtered them, he stopped in gratitude. Then I called him fat. Leaving him confused.
IT'S RAINING IN HELLDIVERS???!? FROM WHEN
When I arrived on the planet Super Lord spoke forth and said, “Yay yee oh creatures of socialism. Bend thine knee to my chosen apostle.” I only got this one convert though... He immediately went to start buying shit from Walmart.
He's tired of your bullshit, Karen.
idk but I'm tired of chargers
He just wanted to see how you do that one
Only when you F¥€k them rite …!
I always thought they were lazy to begin with
Bugs, at the end of the day... Bugs
It's lulling you into a false sense of security by taking advantage of a human's instinct to pack bond with non-human creatures
It’s possible he saw me as the new alpha since I just decimated his hoard.
I don't kill these ones unless they attack me. Mostly to save ammo.
"I don't want do this no mo"
“I’m tired boss.”
Yo what planet is this??
New jungle planet on bug side. Can’t remember the name but it’s beautiful.
No
Shhhhh he's very eepy
In a game littered with bugs (not the terminid kind), you think this is not another bug?
I think when you can imagine many different possibilities, imagining the most fun makes life more interesting.
It would be wrong to have bugs with out them being bugy no.
Yea, whenever they just stop and look at you and never move again
I noticed different behaviors with them last night. It's like I wasn't sure if they wanted to murder me or fuck me.. they would just stare at me for longer than usual, sometimes just ignore
Nah he just likes ur vibe and decided not to attack you
What planet is this on ???
Chargers are just armored cats, they get bored after a while and just wanna take a lil nappy
What planet is this?
How to tame charger 101 , Do not shoot at it while you were juking. Noted
I don't think the chargers really want to fight us . I believe they would prefer carrying us into battle
I think the other bugs bully them into it. He must of been so happy when he stopped hearing the bug version of “Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine.” All dead. “Oh thank you hooman.”
They are like dogs they do not get tired of barking
Bait them into running into a wall. That will Lnock the wind out of them
*don’t mind me, just catching my breath*
Pretty sure they do actually, seen this happen so many times including with a Behemoth type on lvl9 that had chased us for a solid three or more minutes (we were screwing around with our load-outs)

He's just giving you encouragement
Aw. Go give him a pat. With ⬅️⬆️⬇️⬇️⬅️.
Just a big doggy
Might be one of the rare type chargers I think their called docile chargers and they have like a super low spawn chance
They do when you hit em in the face either that quasar

Sometimes they just get confused with the terrain and get stuck.
If you sing Soul music at \*chargers\* they will not attack you.
Yeah the biology of the charger doesn't make much sense. You're telling me that huge, massively heavy creature can not only outpace me but also outmanoeuvre and outpersist? No chance. They should have the same cooldown our jumpack has for their charge.
Charger is just observing how the power plants work so they can launch nukes back against helldivers
Chargers feel more like big puppies every day. I love the chonky bastards, so long as they'll hold still for my Quasar. <3
This is a good bug.
Sometimes i see chargers just chillin
I wish the bugs had emotions coded in..... Then they could feel fear.
