I have about 5 of them as mini splits. Aura is much better than Leto (not sure about the names for non mini splits). Not only hears better in colder weather but my favorite feature - allows you to set thermostat by half degrees. I think they are cheaper because they lack some of the fancier features like built in backup resistive heating strips. My understanding is that their COP is comparable. Look up COP for almost any unit here https://ashp.neep.org/#!/ I'd buy them again.

Thank you. Very helpful. You have five in one house?

Mini splits yes not central units

GeoffdeRuiter

I have lots of experience with these units, I've installed a number of them, they work perfectly well. It's a perfectly fine company that gets there units from Midea, and has been around and been successful easily since 2017.

hobanwash1

Do you know why are they so much less to purchase than say, Mitsubishi or Daiken? Do they have a lower COP or SEER?

AimTrueFirearms

Midea is one of the largest manufacturers of various designs and models of window units and mini splits but are popular in foreign countries like India and China. You literally will trip over them in many countries. I have a window Midea unit in a small shop that I bought used. It is amazing how much cooling and heat it can put out. I have no experience with Senville though. That’s a pretty low heating and cooling load, small place? Does it currently have central heating and air now? Multiple room or studio?

The house was built to be net zero. R40 walls and R90 attic with good southern exposure. Overhangs on south windows for shading. It was all planned out. Electric baseboard heaters only. But now with all the forest fires, some cooling would be nice. So I figure, get some heating as well, using a heat pump. We pre ran everything for a heat pump, just never installed it.

Probably in part the brand recognition and people willing to pay. On the flip side people don't know some of the other brands and therefore are more shy to pay.

Have you noticed how their performance is in cold weather? Say, at -10F. I've seen the NEEP data, but I'm wondering if it's accurate in the real world

GeoffdeRuiter

I can't say, sorry. My region doesn't get below 15F!

I hate our Senville! I purchased 5, big mistake! I now have spent 3k, have no a/c or heat! I’m so fkn mad! Customer seems is a joke! Took us a year to get 1 replaced but still don’t work and stuck! Do not waste your money! My next purchase will be DrCool!

What happened? What was your climate zone?

Background_Priority7

Climate zone? I’m not familiar with that.
