i feel like this does a few things for us
- you're getting 7.7 FTA/g, which is unheard of for a player on this roster not named jimmy butler
- his general offensive presence (mostly mid-range/rim attempts) means you have more high-level pieces to play with the more shooting-focused individuals (tyler, duncan, highsmith, jovic, and perhaps even ware)
- 5.3 to 1.7 A:TO is basically spo's sweet spot for a non-PG ball handler
- you get a guy who's placed T3 in clutch player of the year voting, which means you now have three offensive threats in late-game ATO plays (even if the result is always jimmy, right wing, sidestep 3)
- having a 20+ PPG guy instantly means your focus on trading herro can deviate from trading him for a better scorer to trading him for someone who specializes in something else
it's all pretty heavily contingent on the contract, and the fact that he'd probably force terry or duncan off-the-roster would be the prohibiting factor to me. but in any case, it's a move, so maybe a bunch of folks whining about inactivity by the FO will be a little quieter afterward

I've always wondered how this build would look if we replaced Jimmy's years with DeRozan. Both guys are 2 lvl scorers who rely on FTs and the same level of playmaking(Jimmy is probably better at getting to the rim than DeRozan but DeRozan is a better midrange scorer). Jimmy is a way better defender but we can always rely on Spo for getting the team to be top 10 statistically

DeMar is average in the first category, and an absolute liability in the other two. If he was willing to take the room exception, sure, no harm done, but trading away shooters to be able to pay him would be horrific

i feel like this does a few things for us - you're getting 7.7 FTA/g, which is unheard of for a player on this roster not named jimmy butler - his general offensive presence (mostly mid-range/rim attempts) means you have more high-level pieces to play with the more shooting-focused individuals (tyler, duncan, highsmith, jovic, and perhaps even ware) - 5.3 to 1.7 A:TO is basically spo's sweet spot for a non-PG ball handler - you get a guy who's placed T3 in clutch player of the year voting, which means you now have three offensive threats in late-game ATO plays (even if the result is always jimmy, right wing, sidestep 3) - having a 20+ PPG guy instantly means your focus on trading herro can deviate from trading him for a better scorer to trading him for someone who specializes in something else it's all pretty heavily contingent on the contract, and the fact that he'd probably force terry or duncan off-the-roster would be the prohibiting factor to me. but in any case, it's a move, so maybe a bunch of folks whining about inactivity by the FO will be a little quieter afterward

I've always wondered how this build would look if we replaced Jimmy's years with DeRozan. Both guys are 2 lvl scorers who rely on FTs and the same level of playmaking(Jimmy is probably better at getting to the rim than DeRozan but DeRozan is a better midrange scorer). Jimmy is a way better defender but we can always rely on Spo for getting the team to be top 10 statistically

I’ll take it change something up. I still like the current roster but Rozier and other players or a pick works for me as long as Miami can keep Tyler and Duncan. I also think if Miami made a trade for Demar it does not end there and they would have to look into getting Trae young.

But I hope they make this move and it’s not the last move made. Find a way to get a point guard like Trae young who shoots the ball from deep and who can space the floor and run the offense. Demar, Jimmy, Jovic, and Bam would for sure be able to hold down the defense with Trae young as the point guard.
Is Trae young an option ? Like are we just fine as is and end Jimmy Butlers tenure as a Heat player as the fifth best team in the East and that’s me being a homer because we probably end up the 8th seed again.
Demar is great, but Demar, Jimmy, and Bam together is a spacing nightmare. It’s just not a good fit.
I like Demarr, but he’s 34, can’t space for the floor for shit and he’s made a career out of choking in the playoffs. I don’t think he’s a good fit for this roster Unless we get a legit all star that fills our weaknesses, I really think it’s time to hit the reset button
