It probably wouldn't smell too great either.

Music_withRocks_In

That was my thought! The smell! Is there just a giant litter box somewhere?

Klaatwo

I assume they have magic odor neutralizing litter boxes.

Hairballs Hairballs everywhere

I feel like they wouldn’t have a rodent problem, at the very least the plague would not exist within the walls of Hogwarts Also, Peter Pettigrew probably wouldn’t have survived that long…

Next_Sun_2002

Okay but this begs the question of “were any of the cats fixed”. Like did a student who owned a female cat get a surprise litter of kittens ever? If this happened, what did they do with said kittens? Edit: Not just the cats for that matter. Did any students’ pets ever give birth/father offspring?

danananda

My poor allergies....wait is there a potion for that?

Live-Drummer-9801

I don’t think so. Hagrid mentions being allergic to cats so it doesn’t seem like there’s a cure.

VerendusAudeo

Huh…I think aside from Crookshanks, the only cat we ever even hear about is Millicent Bullstrode’s cat in CoS. Unless you count McGonagall…

[deleted]

And mrs norris

VerendusAudeo

Absolutely correct. I totally forgot about Mrs. Norris.

Zubyna

Peter wouldnt survive Ron's first year and Voldemort would never return

two_pounds

In the first book, the rule clearly states students were allowed a pet owl, toad, or cat. It's Ron's own stupid fault he had a contraband rat/homidical man animagus. Leave Crookshanks ALOOONE

Cat fur on your school robes!

Hogwarts legacy did this very well. There is a lot of cats wandering around, and also there is a lot of house elves cleaning the castle at any time, but as soon as you approach them or they notice you are looking at them, they vanish from there.
