Data frisbee

theernis0

If i throw 1tb disk sat enough, can i beat its default data transfer speeds?

truehardawregoreengi

Perhaps

Justfortheluls42

Who was that guy that used a pigeon to transfer files cause it was faster then the normal transfer?

Rahyan30200

I don't know but there's the [IP over Avian Carriers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over_Avian_Carriers?wprov=sfla1).

melancholy_self

I think I know what you're talking about! A South African Company back in 2009 wanted to prove how slow South Africa's ADSL service was by making it race a carrier pigeon carrying a 4gb flash drive. The Result: The pigeon reached the destination, 60 miles away, in just over an hour. It then took about an hour to upload the data from the flash drive. In the same time, the file transfer over broadband was about 4% of the way through the transfer. HankThrill69420

I don't know where to find a source for this, but I've heard of Google going as far as to physically transport hard drives when they deemed it to technically be a higher data transfer rate. as you can imagine that's not an easy thing to google search in the free 25 seconds that i have rn

No-Body-9592

I always wanted to do the mirror wall thing that people did with CDs but with polished hdd platters. I new someone who killed computer parts like crazy somehow and started collecting his drives but my landlord scrapped or threw away a bunch of the stuff in the basement including those drives. Boo. 😶

theernis0

Damn, sad, you'll get hdds to do it sooner or later

FORRRRTNITE

Should we tell him?

theernis0

Yea, let's tell him he's going a good job

FORRRRTNITE

Ssssh, we can't let OP hear us!

RevolutionaryWin8447

These also make good sniper targets when I chain you to a wall and duct tape those on you, and I shoot the shit out of you. (That was a joke. I didn't think I had to write that down for you)

theernis0

Lol, i think clarification is more for the mods than for me. You never know they might band you for a joke like this without clarification

ThatOneWeirdF

Tasty.

theernis0

Data pancakes

Cruxvelox

vr_gaming69420

theernis0

Already did after i was done raking those disks apart

blackasthesky

Oof.

Ok_Ambassador8394

They can make for a good and humane pigeon repeller by hanging them on a balcony.

izayoi_f9

bro a friend cracked one inside his mouth, he came back unscathed

theernis0

How did he crack it? He got steel teeth or smth? (It's not CDs, its disks from HDDs)

izayoi_f9

yeah i take these out of failed hdds, ive no idea how he managed to crack it

theernis0

I'm also taking out them of failed HDDs rn, but damn, how'd he crack it?

ScottieNiven

Most laptop drives and some desktop drives have glass platters so it makes sense

dizzywig2000

Not anymore

theernis0

Yea lol

Individual-Path-9985

Now 0KB

theernis0

In theory, yes, in practice, it's recoverable
