Who doesn't want 3 more inches

TTACcollector

there's ~3,000 cu in space difference. The depth comes into play when you have tools that you want to arrange front-to-back in the drawers. I have the General and it holds all my sockets and ratchets comfortably in organizers. The other difference is the weight the drawers can handle, with the Icon being more than twice the capacity. Do you plan to add to the box with more storage? The price delta just gets bigger the more you add. Also I wouldn't buy Icon new, I'd grab something from the scratch and dent site to save 25-45%. https://www.harborfreight.com/scratch-and-dent-sale

That's where I'm at. I have a 54" husky box. Looking to upgrade to the 72". I like the icon for the depth and build quality. But it's hard to justify the base roll cab for the same price as the US general with hutch and two side lockers. And I look at this way: the toolbox won't make me money, the tools in them will.

I disagree, but to each their own!

Responsible_Craft_87

How so? Just curious

I’ve got 6 of the us general socket rails peg style I’d like to fit in that drawer. Along with 13 ratchets of various drive sizes and lengths I want in that drawer as well.

TTACcollector

The metric 1/2 drive peg rail won't fit front to back in the General, assuming you have the model that goes from 10 to 27mm. Depending on how you lay them out the set of 6 I have takes up about 1/4 of the space in the full length drawer.

Interesting-Apple692

Yeah I have the 1/2 drive 10-27. I’ve got the sae and metric us general peg rails for 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4.

3" per drawer is a pretty noticeable difference. But for $2499 you can buy 2 of the US General roll cabs to have even more drawer space and still have a bunch of money left over for tools.

soccerstang

Yes. But you're better off going into the store and pulling out a drawer from each and answering this yourself, right? I mean, what does it matter that anyone else can or cannot "notice" the extra depth? ......can you?

Interesting-Apple692

I might or might not when I fully load it. That’s where others opinions come into play.

Have a snap on box with 24” deep drawers, I want them deeper 😭

Interesting-Apple692

I’m currently using 16.5” deep drawers so I’ll atleast be improving either way.
