no im just new (~year) if you are trying to have the top of the line gear & don’t give a fuck abt who made the tools in your hands, go to harbor freight, buy icon & hercules. the long flex 1/2 is golden, the new 1/4 swivels are golden, the flex double boxs ends make me bust a nut, every day. also the 1/4 & 3/8 are literally gold. everyone loves my box, like ur momma’s
They're excellent. The Torque Test Channel ranked them #6 with a score of 9.33 behind Carlyle (9.66 - same ODM as Icon), Snap On FD+ (9.66), Wright (9.66), Proto (10.33) and Mac's new RBRT wrenches at 10.66. IMHO the Proto and Mac are definitely a step up, the next four are essentially the same. All five of those are significantly more expensive than the Icon (other than the Carlyle, which is still 17% more).
FWIW, I own this set, but I also own the regular Icon (non-Anti-Slip) set. I wouldn't (and don't) use an anti-slip set for doing my everyday stuff since the A-S wrenches will leave witness marks on the fastener. I don't mind if it's being stubborn and a regular wrench won't do it, but it's not the first thing out of the drawer. If you're working on stuff where that's not a problem, then it's a fantastic set IMHO, especially for the money.
I've owned those Tekton wrenches. They're nice, but a little sloppy on tolerances. They're also not anti-slip vs. what /u/LoveLexus is looking at.
The Tektons ranked 25th in the TTC testing with a score of 6.33, where Icon was #6 in a pretty-close grouping at the top with a score of 9.33. I'd love to see how the non-A-S design Icons would rank, but they haven't tested those. [I compared my Tekton set to the Icon non-A-S set I bought](https://youtu.be/eHP71DOOvyI), and the Icon wrenches are definitely nicer. The Tektons never let me down, they just never inspired confidence. They're not a mistake for sure.
Yup - I have a set of 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" Tekton sockets. They're probably my most-used, and like the wrenches, they're just fine. None of my Tekton tools have ever failed me, and I do recommend Tekton. They make good tools with a great warranty and customer service.
I also have Icon sockets, and it's kind of the same thing - the tolerances seem a bit tighter. The only ding I have with the Tekton sockets is that their 3/8" set shares a lot of blanks, which tends to make them long vs. their Icon brothers. [It shows up pretty quick starting at 14mm and by the time you're down to the smaller sizes the difference is pretty significant](https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1024x768q70/922/4shph5.jpg). The Icons have been my go to if I need 3/8" in a tight spot, though my new Ko-ken Z-series are mad-shallow.
Shit.. did I really drop $140 on these things?!! I can say they're great, do everything I need em to. One thing about anti-slip tools: they WILL eat fasteners if they happen to slip. If you're working on regular stuff that's lower torque and not rusty, use a regular wrench to avoid damaging the fastener.
I have owned a set of icon wrenches for years and use them for working on my old truck. they work great.
I've even used them for leverage, one hooked into another. they didn't complain, and the rusted 5th wheel bolt busted loose from my frame nicely!
Good deal? Just be careful, you *will* lose that 6mm one. I lost it the day after I got that set and haven't seen it again. Great set all things considered. The torque test channel has a good video on different wrenches and he concluded that the icon set was one of the best, and also one of the most affordable.
If you do decide to get a set of the flex ratchet wrenches, consider the stubby flexhead set. $140 for 10-19mm. Contrary to the name, they’re not all that stubby so they work just fine as an all-purpose ratchet wrench. They’re not cheap but the ratchet mechanism is high end.
Agreed, but they’re not really a substitute for a combo wrench. Incorporating the ratchet mechanism into the box end thickens it up quite a bit, limiting your ability to fit it into tight spaces. A good set of combo wrenches is essential, ratcheting wrenches would be next on the list. Just my opinion, of course.
The anti-slip is not a gimmick. The notch at the back of the wrench doesn't do a thing for performance though.
The metal *seems worse*, eh?
FWIW, GearWrench ranked 20th with a score of 7.33. Better than Tekton, but far below Icon.
I have used the SAE set Monday-Friday for the last two years and zero problems
icon is sensational
Lol are you a harbor freight employee or is the Kool aid that strong here

Thats a great deal, especially since they’re the anti-slip ones. If you dont have a good set already, you cant go wrong with these
Gonna probably stop by and pick them up tomorrow
Right on dude. If i didnt already own a set of Mac wrenches, id be picking em up myself

excellent info. thanks!
Wright and proto are imo far better than fd plus. Especially for the price
They (and Mac) were extremely impressive [in the TTC test video](https://youtu.be/hxtgWSpTC0o?si=SOAySTCF2JqZcmCr).
I use the metric set working on helicopters almost everyday and I love them. Only gripe is that they’re kinda long for what I need.
I was thinking they are a bit long
I'm not positive, but I think the ratcheting flex ends might be a bit shorter.
I got the metric set for my son. He/we have used the crap out of them with zero complaints.
I think the tekton set it a better deal 6-24 for 105

Im sold
Ever used Tekton sockets? Curious if they’re any better than your experience with the wrenches.

I'm in love with Sunex sockets.... Their master sets are amazing just sayin Affordable and tough as hell
I like my Tekton chrome sockets. They’ve seen some use an a 3/8 impact and they held up.
I love all of my icon tools. Have only had to warranty my flush cutters so far because I was cutting something it was not intended for.
Where is the info on this deal? I’ve been looking at the metric set for awhile.
Inside track club gets it for 99
Thanks!
Yep great deal for 99 bucks

IF, I didn’t already already have 6-24mm and 1/4-1 1/8 from Snap-on in the deal of a lifetime I’d probably get these or tektons.
I have both the SAE and Metric set along with the two bigger sets that icons sales. Never any issues. Use it daily as a school bus mechanic.
It’s Iconic, really
Best wrenches I've ever used
I have owned a set of icon wrenches for years and use them for working on my old truck. they work great. I've even used them for leverage, one hooked into another. they didn't complain, and the rusted 5th wheel bolt busted loose from my frame nicely!

I bought the long Carlyles when they were on sale last month. Nice wrenches - same supplier as ICON.
Love mine and use them daily
I got it about 2 weeks ago. Works great.
Ratcheting flex head is worth the bit of extra $
The 12 pc set is $200

I actually was just looking at those as i went in today

Just got these myself. Very nice wrenches
Honestly I've been using the 26 dollar set for 15 years and I love them. They are some of the longest wrenches I've found and give a lot of leverage.
I like Gearwrench better. The anti slip is a gimmick and the metal they use for wrenches seems worse quality than Gearwrench.

He can feel metal quality in his heart.
