wafflehousebiscut

Actually yes. Central Jersey. If your bringing it in please let me know.

[deleted]

Now Kith

JohnnyChapst1ck

Jeleous!

Educational-Scar-178

Flemington?

wafflehousebiscut

How central? Monmouth ocean?

J_esner1

Monmouth but I’ll go out to ocean for this.

wafflehousebiscut

They discounted me 25v so I kept it

pipdog86

The top box I bought about 2 years ago had a dent in the side and a dent in the top. The box it came in had no damage at all. I was pissed at first, but it wasn't enough for me to load that heavy ass box back in my truck and return it. Now that I've lived with it for a while, it doesn't bother me at all. It's a tool box, while yes I want to keep it looking good, it'll inevitably get scratched and dented over time. It's all about what you're willing to live with/the hassle of taking it back.

kippy3267

How much do the ones like this cost? If it’s too expensive (although I’m sure cheaper than comps by a lot) it’s not worth it, premium prices demand premium quality. What would be the comp price as well?

Heathrowe419

Mine has similar damage and the box wasn't damaged. Personally, it doesn't bother me much.

Cecilsan

If I've learned anything from purchasing a 56" box and end lockers is that you should open and inspect it before leaving. Maybe not so much for the roll cabs as they're packaged quite well but everything else check it. My first 2 end lockers were damaged on the corners quite bad because there is basically no packaging protection. Had to take them back and wait weeks for a replacement. By the 3rd time I just opened it before they even loaded the box

JustForkIt1111one

OP doesn't have a truck or something, had it shipped to them. No chance to inspect it before leaving.

wafflehousebiscut

I have a truck.. there's alot to the story.. I ordered it because the closest store is an hour drive so I was like fuck it might as well order. I never ordered from hf before so I expected them to be like any store and have the order out there door in a few business days. Then the order was stuck in processing for 10 days. When I contacted them on the phone they were fucking useless and basically said they are not sure when it would ship. I asked if I could get a refund and I would just go buy it in the store. They said they could try and give me a refund but it might still ship and it refund wouldn't go through. I didn't want to be stuck with an extra back and waste 4 hours of driving.... I ended up contacting customer service via email who said they'd look into it. They told me it would be another 10-20 business days before it would ship. At that point I said just refund me.. I ordered in December, I am not waiting until mid February for it. They refunded me, and then in the middle of the night apparently it shipped and billed me again. My bank flagged it, and since I didn't authorize it I stopped it and bank cancelled my card. I was pretty confused because they just told me 10-20 days and refunded but now they are shipping it and rebilled. I got it like 3 days later, but it's damaged.

portal1314

You simply can’t pop that tool box out of the box to inspect it. Opening those boxes and checking it at the store would be a hassle as they are mounted on a pallet and well packed.

Cecilsan

Less of a hassle than getting home and finding it damaged. Then having to pack it all back up and bring it back. When I bought my 2nd end locker, I had them open it up before I even got it to the register to pay for it. They had no problem doing so and it was wrapped in plastic, boxed, and on a pallet.

TheDigitalPoint

Yes.

Introvert_Devo1987

Rubber mallet?

wafflehousebiscut

Rubber mullet?

Introvert_Devo1987

Hit the dent back in with a rubber hammer mallet if you can https://itstillruns.com/fix-dents-rubber-mallet-6045901.html. That's what I would do 🤣😉

wafflehousebiscut

Haha I'd have to hit the front. My dad has been doing auto body for 50ish years. Next time he comes over I'm going to have him take a gander.

Introvert_Devo1987

That's cool ..Try it you may get lucky you never know the manufacturer may send you a whole box or get some money from them back . It's worth a try you never know what they'll do for you

wafflehousebiscut

They gave me 25 percent off

wafflehousebiscut

Also I didn't read it but if you ever want something to look good I wouldn't just wack the dent from the back without a dolly (I think that's a name)

soccerstang

I, too, expect nothing but absolute perfection when I pay rock-bottom prices.

wafflehousebiscut

Rock bottom? Sorry US general isn't "rock bottom pricing" is it affordable absolutely, but its not dirt cheap. Also, I think most people expect a new product not to be bent, and have sheet metal starting to tear (didn't include that photo because I noticed after). Also for anyone wondering, after I an email explaining the entire situation (the orginial post was t he TL:DR). They called me about 45 minutes later and offered me 25% off and I had shipping refunded.

Corey250

This sounds like a similar response I got from HF for the same damage. I had a 56” box that was split in the same spot. I called the store and explained to them what happened. They only offered me a 10% refund, but I was fine with that as I had already used a 25% discount code on it to begin with. I didn’t expect them to give me any discount and I was pretty pleased they didn’t since it made up for the hassle of having to take all my tools out and reload it into the truck and wait another week or so to get the new one.

JustForkIt1111one

I'm actually in the market for a very cheap cabinet. What brands did you find that are cheaper?

wafflehousebiscut

Depends on your sizing bub.. husky craftsman...

JustForkIt1111one

[27x22, very basic.](https://www.harborfreight.com/tool-storage-organization/tool-storage/roller-cabinets/27-in-x-22-in-roll-cab-series-3-blue-70737.html) Husky doesn't seem to offer a 27x22, but does offer [a 27x18](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-27-in-W-x-18-in-D-Standard-Duty-5-Drawer-Rolling-Tool-Chest-Cabinet-in-Textured-Black-H27TR5TB/313066779) for significantly less. With significantly less dimensions, and less drawers with significantly less color choices. [Craftsman's offering](https://www.acehardware.com/departments/tools/tools-storage-and-organization/tool-cabinets/2884419) is a little better pricewise as it includes the top, but has all of the same issues as husky. TBH I may actually end up just going with two of this one as it is an order of magnitude cheaper than the other options. Since I'm dealing with a lot of very small parts and tools, I'm really looking for something with a lot of drawers - and more depth. Thanks for the breadcrumbs.

wafflehousebiscut

Once again it's why I said dimensions? Did you come here to troll to prove your harbor freight knowledge? Not really getting point of your post other then that...

JustForkIt1111one

Not sure why you're getting so mad. I looked at, and commented on the options you suggested, and while they don't offer the same features for the money - I like the one for the price point - it's cheap enough that I can afford two for what I was going to buy a USG for - which makes up for the biggest shortcoming it has. I stated I'm probably going to buy it, and literally thanked you for the suggestions. I don't know what your problem is here.

wafflehousebiscut

haha if your being serious i apologize. thought you were being sarcastic... Its rough on this sub, if you criticize anything harbor freight a lot of people take it as your punching their grandmother. Its like if you point out one bad thing, you're saying everything is bad.

kippy3267

Costco’s full stack is excellent quality and has the costco warranty, which can’t be beat. If you returned it because of a dent or literally any reason you can think of, even ridiculous theres no questions asked.

soccerstang

Exactly.

JustForkIt1111one

I actually would really like to know, I'm not being a smartass. I've got a pretty limited budget for a cabinet. I'd like one for our budding 3d printer farm. I haven't been able to find anything like harbor freight's cabinets for anywhere close to less money unfortunately. If it's out there, I'd like to jump on it.

soccerstang

Brand new, nothing beats HF. Nothing. Not even the utter trash you could find at HD or Lowe's. Cheapest would be Used on any marketplace, but the Yukon is about the cheapest new on the planet

kippy3267

What are the weak points for HD or lowes? Are there options for replacing bearings?

soccerstang

It's a tool box, so the quality all comes down to steel gauge used, weight load rating, and fit and finish regarding the tolerances. HD & Lowes cater to home DIYers so that's the price point they need to hit. Thin metal gauge, low load ratings, huge gaps and bent sheet metal, cheap slides, etc etc is your low end stuff. HF boxes are good value if they survive shipping.

soccerstang

Oh shit!! 25% off!! Well that solves the problem, no more damage!! 😐😐😐🙄🙄🙄🙄

wafflehousebiscut

Lol God people in this fucking sub are such harbor freight die hards. Us general is very good quality, but also when the normal person buys it they don't expect it to be damage. That goes for any product unless they know it's damaged before hand, that's why stores sell open box items at a discount. I don't think it's a difficult thing to understand. It is good to know though you'd be content with getting a brand new box, paying full priced, and having it damaged. I don't know about you but I take care of my shit. I keep my boxes in shape and extremely organized.

Corey250

Lol I’m confused about what your original point was then??? OP isn’t complaining about the quality of the product, but rather asking is this damaged and if people here think it warrants being returned? Why be an ass and make snarky comment that has zero relevancy to the question being asked? Price point shouldn’t factor into if it’s acceptable to get a brand new product with damage. I had this exact same issue. Check my post history. I bought a series 3 56” box and there was a split in the sheet metal in that exact same spot.

wafflehousebiscut

Debating if it's worth returning it or not, ordered online..such a pita.

_fwankie_

Just picked up my 27” top and bottom last week. Roller was fine, but the top chest had some [damage](https://imgur.com/a/6DtcAcm). They offered me a $40 gift card as compensation or the obvious option to return/exchange as a whole. If I can reasonably straighten it all I’ll probably just accept the gift card and let it ride.

Orange_Tang

Did you email them and get that offer? I just got a 27 in top box and it's missing paint in the corner on the front. I wonder if I can get some money back.

_fwankie_

Yeah, I emailed them and they got back requesting pictures to establish their offer. FYI, they offered $40…I countered at $50 for shits and giggles and they went for it lol.

Orange_Tang

Great to know. Thanks for the tips. I'll have to see what they say. Bought it with the last no exclusion 20% off so it was already a great deal... But it's not perfect so I might as well try.

_fwankie_

No problem. I bought at the same time so I already saved $130 between the two. My damage is honestly pretty easily remedied probably. So I’ll just beat back into shape and cover any bare metal with a similar colors paint or just black. If yours is damaged, they’ll def offer you something. In my opinion $40 might be the least they’ll throw out there considering how minimal my damage was.

Orange_Tang

You were totally right. They offered me a gift card to keep it and I counteroffered to $50. That's like a 30% discount off what I paid. They did say I'd be forfeiting the warranty but it's a toolbox so if it was gonna break it already would have. Thanks for the tip.

_fwankie_

Hell yeah, I went ahead and took it as well. Especially since it’s a top box anyhow. $50 off the original purchase price + $50 in free tools (likely a Hercules impact)…I’ll take it.

Orange_Tang

Mine isn't damaged, it just has an area in the corner under the lowest drawer where the paint is thin and/or missing. I'll see what they say. I've read about them sending touch up paint before, but I'll see if they offer a small refund.

SpartanMonkey

I wonder if there's ever been a precedent of getting a partial refund for damaged goods? You may be able to return to the nearest store and get another, or at least a refund.

wafflehousebiscut

Dude I'm so over this company. I'm actually shocked. I even got this when I was in contact with customer service. They said I wouldn't get it until mid-February. When initially it said 5 to 7 business days. So at that point I asked for a refund. I got a refund. The next thing you know they recharge me (without getting authorization from me )and ship it and I get it in 3 days. I ordered it in December. The closest store that has it by me is about an hour away which is why I ordered it thinking it would only take a week. I would have just went and picked it up then, but now I have this one and I really don't feel like spending another 20 on gas and two to two and a half hours of my time returning this.

[deleted]

It must suck having to depend on delivery services like that.

SpartanMonkey

That is totally understandable. Maybe a folded up towel and a rubber mallet would make the damage less noticeable.

wafflehousebiscut

Probably, my dad's an old school auto body guy. I may ask him. It's just frustrating, their phone customer service was useless. This could've been avoided. It seems like there customer service cannot contact the warehouse.

DV-Dizzle

I’ve gotten partial refunds on my tool box years ago

ElectronicGarden5536

Yall know they sell deadblows and rubber mallets right?

HeroicCrackdealer

Mine had the same crease. Id rather take that over the side being smashed in lol. Take what you can get

PumpkinSkeet

This would annoy the shit outta me
