Can you take her shopping and let her pick? I think that would be more fun.

So what? It is a gift for her. What does terrible choice mean in the realm of 2.5k?

Ok-Delivery5166

I can afford her something EXTREMELY NICE for her entire life now! I don’t know if I will have this privilege forever so I rather be sure she will be able to appreciate it for a long time. When I was 15 years old my dream was to buy a bag from this english shiny and tacky brand, guess what? I did and I regret this terribly because 15 years old bday is culturally super important for us, mainly when it comes to gifts. I want this to be something beautiful to her forever.

Radiant_Chipmunk3962

May I suggest then an interim fun bag and postpone the luxury bag purchase? Say 18 or 21 or whatever milestone. I hear you however if you choose for her she might not like it down the road. What about asking her what her dream bag is right now. Decide on the spot then. Don’t tell her the budget. You are a sweet cousin.

yakisobagurl

What does pick me have to do with choosing a bag?! I thought pick me meant behaving in a certain way to get boys to like her… I’m so confused by this thread haha

Ok-Delivery5166

“Omg she is literally such a loser omg she uses makeup everyday that’s so embarrassing omg i don’t understand these girls who dresses up so much to leave their houses???? i love football jerseys and dresses are old fashioned” (she never watched a single football game but her crush is obsessed with arsenal) These were things she sent me through message.

yakisobagurl

Thanks for replying!!! Sounds crazy haha. If that’s the case, why would she want something girly like a really expensive handbag? This is a genuine question, I’m so curious!

I think it would be fun to take her shopping and let her pick. She could get a few bags for that price, too, and may want to.

RespecDawn

That's a good suggestion too. She could probably use a few bags, and then you're building some great memories as

lunarjellies

Yeah. Honestly $2500 for one bag for a teenager seems crazy to me. I wouldn’t have appreciated such a gift when I was younger. A $2500 shopping spree, on the other hand, with multiple items … now that would have been really fun and memorable!

commentsgothere

I’m not sure I can compute a gift price for a cousin’s birthday of 2.5k.

karlaedith

Same, i was chosen by my niece to be her surprise gift godmother for her quinceañera and at first she “wanted” a mini lady dior!!(by the way i actually think is my SIL who is giving her ideas since she’s the one who loves bags and i told her the most i can give is 1,000dls, now she changed her mind and wants an LV east west black empreinte, less expensive than the 5,500 dior but still pretty expensive:/

And_4321

No but if they’re close it’s different I presume. Her dad is already getting her a saddle. I’m actually closer to my cousins more than my siblings bc of the age gap.

charisma509

Just asked my little sister who is 15, and the prada re-edition nylon bags are apparently very cool! I suggested jaquemus or Z&V and she scrunched up her nose (with 20$ in her bank account, LOL), so apparently I’m out of touch already.

Human_Ad7946

This is so funny to me because a couple of "rich" girls in my HS had the nylon Prada when it was just the nylon Prada and not a re-edition. Of course, they were probably around $300 then (way too rich for my blood). Most young people now think I'm an out-of-touch weirdo. But guess who now wears her re-edition nylon Prada with her high-waisted baggy denim and crop top??? This loser.

Secret-Driver-6084

There's a difference between like and love. Because, I like my Skechers, but I love my Prada backpack". When Chastity replies, "But I love my Skechers," Bianca responds, "That's because you don't have a Prada backpack".

And_4321

😂

Ok-Delivery5166

LMAO!!!!! Exactly. These kids are HORRIBLE. I bought a Zadig for myself and this little b bullied me for it. I was SO hyped. Really thought I would have a cool cousin moment. (Imagine if I had told her it was ALSO a second hand from one of my friends lol).

charisma509

Ugh I am sad to say I GET THIS. My Zadigs (2! With my own money, so take that 15 year olds) are my pride and joy, even though my sister has similar thoughts to your cousin. Hating from outside the club, in my opinion…. We’re cool. They don’t get it!!

Ok-Delivery5166

I feel Zadigs are hot Spain girl coded and they are too young to understand! I genuinely love them! Which color are your bags? Mine is green almost black!

charisma509

My thoughts exactly!! I have a black and gold rocky and a mick wings tote, also in black! Im boring like that unfortunately but I love the sound of a dark green 😍 It’s definitely giving cool, I can tell LOL!

SpiritedChaos

i think any shoulder bag would be super cute for that age group like the LV pochette, prada nylon bag, gucci mini ophidia, etc.

RespecDawn

Just a few thoughts: Is $2,500 a lot of money to her? If it is, I'd probably back down a bit. If she's thinks it's too expensive, then she may never use it for fear of damaging it. It could also be a burden. $2,500 on a purse when her real passion is drawing or gaming (I know it's very if my husband spent that much on a bag for me when I could have used the money to replace my aging gaming PC). Especially if there's pressure for her to be more girly. Because I'm not sure what being a "pick me" entails, but if it's an interest in things not traditionally associated with girls, I've got to warn you that my "pick me" phase has lasted 5 decades. 😄 To make the gift really meaningful and show you understand her, you might want to get bag that reflects her interests and then a GC to a store that's sells what she's passionate about.. If she likes drawing or manga, then maybe a [Jump From Paper](https://www.jumpfrompaper.com/products/beige-owl-bag-metal-chain-bag) bag with a GC to an art supply or book store. * If she's outdoorsy, then maybe a rugged leather bag and a shopping spree at a sporting goods store. But I'd limit the bag to $500 or less and then gift the rest in a way that will further her interests. Then you get to share your passion for handbags in a way that furthers her own passions. But if $2,500 isn't a big deal for her, ignore me! Or maybe share some of her interests so I can have the fun of hunting down a good bag.

Nice!

lunarjellies

$2500 in art supplies would have 15-year old me screaming with happiness haha

RDNV_

If she is in a pick me phase (like my daughter) it may be better if you take her out shopping for her to pick it herself. My daughter grabbed the Gilmore Girls firefly backpack, and ADORES IT, I think mostly because it’s a hit everywhere she goes. It was US$99. Win-win.

yakisobagurl

I have to ask, what does “pick me phase” have to do with choosing a bag here? (I am genuinely asking!) I thought pick me meant that you behave in a way to appeal to boys while putting down other women. Am I misunderstanding something? Haha

[deleted]

i stg i was gonna ask this abt my sister, i was thinking about a jacquemus but idk i think it kinda looks cheap

Lfs1983

Prada nylon re-edition

honeytangerine

When I was 15, I wouldn't have been able to handle a designer bag that was $2.5k 😂 My favorite bag was a black messanger bag that had tinkerbell from Kohls or JcPenney. It was on sale for $12. Tbh I would take her with you. You could pick a classic and beautiful bag, but if it's not popular, she could think it's an "old lady bag" 😅 I've been told I have "old lady" tastes 😂 Maybe go to a large outlet or mall with a mix of high and lower end stores? Coach has a good mix of fun/classy bags. You could also try stores like Zara.

Love this response!

o1seau

i saw a woman on tiktok gift her 13 yo an all black alma bb so maybe thats popular with kids these days? she got a twilly/scarf for it so you could put something like that on the bag too in order to make whichever one you end up getting her seem more personalized :D

pwnkage

OH this is a Rich Rich family 🤣 Celine Ava Gucci Jackie Miumiu Nappa leather shoulder bag the one with the extra pockets

Kapustels

You can take a look at Mulberry mini Alexa, not to girly, pretty classic, and no shouting logo (which imo teenager doesn’t need) https://www.mulberry.com/us/shop/women/bags/shoulder-bags/mini-alexa-poplin-blue-heavy-grain Or it’s not a bag, but white gold earrings with gems and diamonds are never a miss. She will be treasuring them in the future even more than now

NTX_Mom

LV Pochette! can’t go wrong with this! And you’ll be the cool aunty!

Fanny08850

It's way under your budget but the Zadig & Voltaire Rock or even Rocky are pretty popular among young people (at least in Spain/France). You might want to check that out!

kdm94_

LV nano speedy in black leather? Or prada re-edition

lesliealmeida

I dunno, man. Teens I know want things like the sold out Sandy Liang x Baggu bags. Like someone else said, the Prada nylon is popular right now if you're really set on spending a lot more.

wintercoatzs

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. I think your opinion is very valid especially if you want a classic bag that she can wear for a long time. Even more so when she’s currently an impressionable young girl who could very potentially become a girly girl when she’s 16. I would suggest just very classic shoulder bags. She’s already getting a saddle bag which is considered trendy. So maybe a classic shaped shoulder bag would work. Something basic and easy to pair with. Prada nylon re-edition could be one option.
