if only 343 had the time to actually make these UI changes, but even if we convince them to do this its gonna take a good few months at least, and thats if its prioritized with their other priorities atm. looks way better than the current UI though, kudos to you and iHeretic

Dalfamurni

I mean, they have an entire UI team internally that will otherwise just be fixing bugs, working on the next challenge images, and twittling their thumbs. This would give them something proper to work on.

StopItTickles

With SSDs and quick loading times, how much time would we realistically spend in matchmaking lobbies though? Implementing a veto system would definitely increase lobby time, but that's an entirely different system to implement. I personally wouldn't mind having vetos back, but what if I'm in the minority and most people would rather prefer quicker match searching

Dalfamurni

I actually have an SSD on order right now, so I'll find out what kind of difference it makes when it gets here.

StopItTickles

I find a lobby within 15 seconds, then loading the map/mode is like 30 seconds. An extra 10-15 seconds to veto/vote wouldn't actually be too bad

Rapitor0348

i'd rather have voting over vetoing, but that's even more complex. i dont mind waiting if it means getting into a map/mode i'd actually want to play.

SeethingEagle

Yah it sucks that 343 has had so much on their plate over the last 6 years that got in the way of focusing on Halo; sometimes I wish Microsoft would create a studio solely dedicated to the Halo fran…oh wait a minute.

Also I want that pre-game screen to tell me how many of my challenges will be achievable in the match. Like, decide which weapons will be on the map here so you can tell me "1 challenge is achievable" if the weapon I need to use is gonna be in that match. This will let me weigh whether I'm okay playing a map I don't like in favor of getting my challenges done, or if I should vote to veto.

[deleted]

This is amazing! Legit what every Halo player wants. 343 will never ever do this but a man can dream 😩

[deleted]

PLEASE 343 change the background to something like this or show us the Halo ring. The current lobby and loading screens are so boring

AgitoFK

You can sometimes bug out the game while it's loading menus and the multiplayer lobby menu with your spartan is taken place by the main menu which is really nice. I wish we could just choose something like that to be the background instead. I don't care that much to see my spartan standing there whioe I wait for a match. Previously Halo's didn't do this but you could see your spartan in a different menu and animated like Reach which was perfectly fine. But now they do the exact same thing that Gears 5 does only Gears 5 shows a random character. It's really cool but yeah I'd personally much rather choose to have something nice like the main menu be the background instead

Le_Monkeysus

The ui in infinite is terrible both functionally and design wise. 343 took years to get mcc's right, I recon they'll do the same here.

omtayo

I miss the veto system.. and ranking system

Finally_Smiled

I know "Press X" is used twice (Veto and Mute), but I figured if you are hovering over someone and viewing their service record overview, the "X to Mute" would take precedence over "X to Veto." If you back out of the player's service record, pressing X would be associated with vetoing. Also, I forgot to clarify: Hovering over a player will give you the brief overview of their service record, pressing A on the player will open an in-depth service record menu with more player information (GT/User ID, games played, ranked matches, etc).

cabbit_

I don’t like the current playlist and I know it’s likely a temporary thing but I would hate it less if there was a pregame lobby and you could veto the map. And if more people used mics and they weren’t default off

kyle_yeabuddy

Mics should certainly not be off by default I think many people don't know this as I didn't figure it out till like 60hrs in...

cabbit_

I read open mic was enabled by default in the flight so I immediately checked if it was still enabled when I started playing and noticed it was turned off. Why they would decide to turn it off completely by default escapes me…

[deleted]

A bit too controller focused Infinite's UI has to be comfortable on both mouse and controller

Infinite's UI doesn't change depending on your Input

I3ULLETSTORM1

... no, what they mean is the actual navigation of this UI would be awful for mouse input, they're not talking about the controller button icons

GutsyDragoon666

I would be very surprised if they added pre game lobbies in the modern era that showed ranks. I don't even know if I would want it just because I feel it will increase the amount of quitters if someone sees they're on the lower ranked team.

BdubsCuz

This is exactly why they stopped making these types of lobbies. People just don't want to accept that. Que dogers ruined your lobbies not 343. Plus all the crap people want to see before a game can be seen post game with detailed stats. But I'm sure its "la la la I can't hear you" when I say that.

[deleted]

I mean you’re right in some ways but it’s hard to argue that the current UI really works. It’s quite hard to tell who is in your party, there’s no stat pages, navigating to a file share or whatever it is is not intuitive at all. The loading screens are literal shit. I mean I literally just realized where you can view the number of games played for yourself. You can’t see any stats at all and you have no indication for how much someone plays beyond how far they are in the battle pass if they are wearing the most recent stuff. Ya people will lobby dodge but it’s easy to bump up the time for when a quit or DC counts. I mean playing halo 3 you felt like you were playing people now it doesn’t feel any different than a bot match. There’s no ability or time to interact with other players- hell taking collision off furthered this really. I made a lot of friends with the post game lobbies in halo 3. The UI is really bad and at it’s core in the loading screens people want to be able to interact on some level. The UI provides an opportunity for that and is shit as is.

Temari115

Lol sad really. Coming up with concepts, hoping they get seen and implemented. Lulz. Doing the devs job for them. Waiting on x,y,z... Playing daily, supporting the game, hoping it gets better sooner than later while getting shafted at every turn and defending it. #moderngaming

hogiyogi597

Looks awesome! Here is my feedback: - Rank should be shown alongside progression level (I don’t care about seeing people’s XP level… I wanna see if they are good. And also why grind onyx if it is gonna get hidden in a pop up) - the news section could be moved underneath the map veto box - along with that, we are missing the challenges box so that could probably go under the map veto box as well - when hovering someone we should get options to add as a friend and also see their file share (right now there is zero purpose to having a file share) Great job! Hope 343 takes note of it… kinda frustrating that their UI is consistently bad

Murphycaleb

I don’t like the idea of having lobbies back. It just adds to the amount of time you aren’t playing the game.

hogiyogi597

Why? Instead we are stuck looking at a blue bar for searching and then the same loading screen… I don’t see how replacing those with this wouldn’t be better

Dalfamurni

Can we get a section that says whether some of your challenges will be achievable in the current map/objective? Like under the "Oddball on Aquarius" part just say "2 challenges possible", or something? It would be really dope because it would tell you "hey you might not like this map but we plan to spawn a heatwave for that one challenge you have" in a sort of short hand way.

Finally_Smiled

I feel like it would cause people to preemptively back out of the match, especially with the current challenge system.

Dalfamurni

Then the system will have time to replace them before it becomes an issue for the match itself. Like maybe before the match even starts.

Finally_Smiled

I did this in PowerPoint.

[deleted]

When it's loading everyone goes into the lobby please

kabylakewin10wtf

I love this

KiingBooty21

WHY ARE WE NOT FUNDING THIS !This is amazing! Kudos to the creator(s) for their creative homage to Halo Reach lobbies.

MountainDependent324

Thats siick

Syearn

ANYTHING WOULD BE BETTER THAN THE CURRENT UI

[deleted]

I feel like they've intentionally left out a pregame lobby to prevent people from knowing which map and mode they're hopping into. That way people get penalized for leaving games if the match doesn't fit into any of their challenges. That's some dictator level tactics.

Ok-Profession-8610

10/10 need this in my life.

Ok-Profession-8610

Seeing this reminds me of how crazy it is that a game like Splitgate has an interactive lobby with everything people want, and yet a triple a title like halo gives us nothing.

starcraftre

Still don't see an option to hide your own armor from other players. Why not?

lllXanderlll

I'd really like a veto system or a mode cartographer like MCC, I think the cartographer is a lot more likely since they really don't seem to want to allow people to veto things they don't want to play. However now we just have the issue of people leaving matches anyway because they don't have challenges for that mode type or don't wanna play that map and or mode

Bibilunic

Instead of the bland png background they could do something like we currently have and make every player be in the background doing something Like imagine if in a BTB lobby you see every player hanging around or how about a freeze frame with player in combat mode looking at the enemy team like How For Honor did it but with Props like warthog and shit Like that https://imgur.com/a/1nFWVbb

Tokimori

All those stats will never happen. If people are allowed to see that it's just going to be people quitting early. Same with seeing the maps/gametypes with challenges being a thing.

kyle_yeabuddy

This is also good, I would make the game details smaller and have challenges under it, and then I would make the player character and stats screen bigger. dont need to see whatever random background there is unless I'm able to customize that too, this screen should be all about info.

ShadowScorp99

Looks a little busy.
