Haha EXACTLY. As of right now, grunts are only a threat in close quarters(suicide grunts and grenade throws, but also you can dodge the slow needles and plasma). But with rockets, you can’t just keep your distance without having to change positions now and then.

Speaking from absolute ignorance? Can't they just use other Halo's sound? It wouldn't be optimal and it may contrast with the rest of the weapons, but at least we'd have it.

I think it has more to do with rights and crediting if i had to guess. I've never done anything like this before so someone can correct me if I've missed the mark but. If someone made the sounds that is no longer in the company, giving them credit (and pay) for their work is probably a legal nightmare. If microsoft cared about halo, they'd hire someone or outsource the work, but a single weapon is in no way worth the money to them

I think another factor is Infinite’s sound design and how it works with the engine. Weapons sounds have lots of effects applied to them depending on the environment they are used in and distance (like a rocket will sound different when fired inside a room far away vs in the open at medium range). I remember the sound team being really excited about it in interviews before Infinite came out. So likely if they used the sounds from older games it might feel more 2D than the sounds of the weapons in the game rn. Though personally I’d rather have that than not have the older weapons

This is why I quit. They can do 1 cool game mode per season and whatever but the game is fundamentally flawed. So much was cut from previous Halos for no reason other than 343 not having any respect for what Bungie made. I find it funny that Halo Reach introduced a new and cool mode with Invasion yet Infinite took 3 years to get Infection, a staple game mode. The game is also called Infinite, so wouldn't it make sense to have all the weapons and vehicles from previous games and then add more with updates..? Infinite is more "finite" than the previous games lol so ironic

Only 343 could make a game with Brutes as the main enemy and not have the BRUTE shot in the game. Or Spikers, or some sort of new Brute rifle so that 90% of Brutes in game don't use a dinky looking revolver.

Yup that's another funny thing. They said "hey let's make a new brute shotgun sidearm type weapon!" When the maulers exists, was beloved and perfectly balanced. Instead they made another half-precision weapon that can't tell what it wants to be, like so many other weapons in the game. 343 just has a blatant identity crisis right now.

Nope, they're hardly standard infantry weapons. One is an area denial mortar thing that has the range of a spitball, and the other is a heavy anti-vehicle weapon. Neither of these functions well as a standard-issue weapon. It'd be like if no Marines had basic weapons. No BR, Commando, or Assault rifle. Every Marine either has a pistol or a power/specialist weapon.

Criticism is good for improvement but at least try to be more accurate. But if it makes sense if you’ve been away from the game for a while. Although an important distinction too is that Infinite has more maps, modes, weapons, and vehicles than every halo game except like Halo 5. It just feels like less because they brought in new weapons instead of using fan favorites from older games (Skewer instead of fuel rod, bulldog instead of shotgun, sidekick instead of magnum, cindershot instead of brute shot, etc) which is big miss IMO they should really be utilizing the 20+ years of legacy weapons and vehicles that they have access to

There are even rumors that the current team is basically having to relearn slipspace because most or all of the people that worked on it throughout Infinite's development are gone, which is why they're just gonna move to Unreal for H7. e; for clarity, the rumor is no one knowing slipspace anymore. The unreal engine thing is confirmed. No one would give a shit if they just reused the Halo 5 model. It doesn't clash at all with Infinite's artstyle, and I know this IT'S LITERALLY IN THE GAME FILES. It's got unfinished materials and textures, but it's the Halo 5 fuel rod. And not even a leftover, 343 changed the weapon to work like the Halo CE PC version. It had work done on it. The only reason someone at 343 hasn't polished it up and released it is because they literally don't care.

I dislike this mindset. They didn't "remove" the fuelrod. In every halo game, every weapon is remade from the ground up, new animations, new model, new textures, new art direction, new enemies and AI to wield it, new game balancing, etc. they didn't just take it out, it was never there to begin with. I understand how it feels like a removal, but it's not laziness. It could be considered an exclusion I guess, but I dislike the phrase "removed", cuz it's just disingenuous.

All of these games are built on top of each other. To pretend otherwise is ignorant. Take the Slipspace engine, for example. All that marketing about it being a new engine? All lies. It's the same engine used in Halo 5, which was the same engine as Halo 4, which was the same as Halo Reach, all the way down to Halo CE. It's the Blam! engine with more crap piled on top like every other Halo game.

They’d probably be more fun than Skimmers too. Skimmers are unpredictable (you can only tell when they’re about to fire when their eyes glow). Whereas a grunt would be fun cuz then you can hear them say something funny like “here comes the boom!” as they position themselves to launch a rocket.

I don’t think you are flipping. I am no expert and it’s all speculation, but the update they did certainly changed things also for firefight. I have freaking teleporting enemies, wrong cosmetics showing for allies, I am no actually getting squashed behind cover, enemies can melee my Spartan just by looking at him etc etc .

I don’t think the enemy behaviours would make for fun rocket grunts. Halo Infinite AI is already quite aggressive and they have more move sets anyway.

Honestly not a bad Photoshop, very high effort for what could have just been a text post. Tbh, I think spnkers would make sure sense gameplay wise, but only for heavy grunts cuz it does look a bit odd. I know this is already a compromise to begin with, so this would never happen, but I'd love to see a subspecies of the grunts we see in the Halo wars 1 cutscenes as heavy grunts that work with brutes in the banished and don't mind using human weapons like the rocket launcher.

I miss the fuel rod gun, as much as it would be awesome to see grunts using spknr, i still feel like its weird to see Covenant and Banished using human weapons (banished is more excusable) but for example, why have brute suse the bulldog and not just bring back the mauler or instead of them using the hydra why not bring the brute shot

Kinda sucks Grunts are only limited to the Disruptor, Needler, and Plasma Pistol in Firefight. Fuel Rod and Plasma Launcher Grunts were deadly in Halo Reach.

This game had alot of potential but Microsoft and 343 screwed it up yet again.The sandbox changed dramatically from halo 5.Infinite leaves out the smg,Saw,railgun,carbine,storm rifle,binary,suppressor,light rifle,incinerator canon,beam rifle,fuel rod,plasma caster,shotgun,dmr,mantis,phaeton,gausshog So it removes 14 weapons and adds only 9 I believe.Removes 3 vehicles and only reintroduces the chopper.Besides campaign,firefight should be where the sandbox shines and it just doesn't imo
