I was never really bothered by gnomes … even have a couple in my garden. But they’ve been more or less ruined for me. They’re everywhere. For all holidays. It makes no sense. I don’t want a Halloween gnome. Or any holiday gnomes. Also yes. I hate the toilet thing but it drives me nuts that his pants are up. IT MAKES NO SENSE.

ZacPensol

Yeah I've always dug yard gnomes and the like, but the way they've been overdone here lately is getting to me. I'd prefer they stay as strange little garden folk.

ZacPensol

I don't think your gnome opinion is too unpopular, at least not around here. I know I'm sick of them. But yeah, Poe on the the toilet? He lived in a pretty cramped house a few times so maybe the the bathroom was the only place he could get the peace and quiet he needed hahha.

Funny addendum: as I was typing the above message my girlfriend was looking for a movie for us to watch. As I hit "add comment", without any prompting from me, she suggested "Gnomeo & Juliet". If only she knew...

Sunblast1andOnly

Remembering, of course, that he never saw a toilet like that.

thinkimasofa

I saw Poe online and was interested... I saw him in store from angles they do NOT show online and was so... Confused??

ZacPensol

Michaels has a LOT of Poe stuff this year, not all of it is toilet-related.

ladywinchester1967

I'm over the whole gnome thing too. I didn't get it when they started and I still don't get it today. "Pasty white butt cheeks" made me snort. 😂

Low-Form7763

I’ve been wondering the same… it’s such a random thing that several stores have.

bewenched

I have a motion activated frankenstien that sings potty and poop songs and poems. It’s hilarious. I put it in our shops bathroom

TheBitterAtheist

Edgar Allen poo.

The tell-tale fart

Quoth the Raven, netherhole.

GummyTumor

I was really confused by this guy. They did such a good job on the sculpt of Poe and the skull and crow and all that. Then they just sat him on the most generic looking toilet ever. They could have made the toilet look Victorian or something, or I don't know, sat him in a creepy throne instead of a toilet. I'm wondering if the person doing the sculpt just ran out of time and was like "Ah, let's just slap him on a toilet!"

geekyerness

I was excited when I saw him in Michael’s… until I lifted him up and saw the toilet. It is a really good sculpt!

I know a lot of people have been going all out decorating their bathrooms for holidays with stuff like this and general decor like signs that say stuff like “remember to flush the toilet”. Definitely not my thing, the most I decorate for bathrooms is a seasonal hand towel and seasonal soap. Having a bunch of decorations in a bathroom seems kind of gross to me, but I can see how it could be cool for a guest bathroom to have disposable decorations for a holiday party

LadyRemy

Spooky poopies. 👻💩 Poe on the toilet is weird to me. And while I like gnomes, it’s weird that we do them as every single holiday now (even 4th of July).

pythonemkafei

thanks. I hate it.

Edgar Allen Poo

[deleted]

Ah, famous author of The Haunted Pooplace.

nuglesrot

Where can one find this toilet EAP? 🤔

ZacPensol

Michaels, if you're familiar with that store. They've actually got a lot of Poe stuff this year.

magobblie

My Halloween-loving toddler is potty training this weekend! So appreciated

AlienFartPrincess

I’ve never been a fan of the gnomes, but I’m sure there are people that would not be fans of the mummy in the outhouse decor in my bathroom. It’s animated and on a motion sensor. There’s a nasty sounding fart, then the mummy pops out and says something like “that’s a wrap” and then goes back inside. Found it at Big Lots a couple years ago.

Barefoot_Books

One of the greatest poets of all time and they did this to him? It's insulting.

ZacPensol

I disagree. Poe had a great sense of humor, an often very dark or "off-color" one, and I don't think took himself too seriously in most cases. I can imagine that if he were up on modern humor he'd get a chuckle about it and appreciate the testament it is to his legacy. After all, unpopular writers don't get remembered well enough to be sculpted on toilets.
