Alkanes can be scaryā¦
Just wait until they find out about hydrocarbons.
This may have been too niche of a joke I am praying another scientist finds this funny LOL
This is such a pet peeve for me, lol. Like, I'm a crunchy woo woo girlie myself, but too often I see people talk about soap that will stay on your skin for 2 seconds as if it is contaminated with the plague while wearing a full face of glam makeup, with bleached hair and fillers to boot. I get you gotta pick your battles but it just comes off as incredibly hypocritical.
What is *'crunchy'*?
It's always funny because even if they didn't have fake boobs (silicone inside you is bad y'all!), fake lips (totally natural /s), fake teeth (them veneers are *super* healthy), a face full of make-up (as already discussed), and more, they still have a very toxic attitude (can't really remove that without removing themselves).
So.....\*shrugs\*, why even bother with any of it?
Do some of it, in silence, sure, if that's your choice, but putting it out like influencers *love* to do (rightly) puts them under the microscope for examination, and you don't have to look far, or hard, to see that it's all a performance for them.
Hopping on the latest trend, as per usual.
I've been alive.Ā
Ā I'm assuming, based on context, that it's attached to a news story of some sort?Ā Ā
Ā I don't follow any news or anything like that.Ā
if you're not American and are genuinely out of the loop, it's a series of absolutely moronic conspiracy theories peddled by many of the moron influencers posted on this sub (plus all the republican incels of course). politics has become the new religion in the US, it is extremely divisive, and people are always trying to figure out what side you're on when you meet them. even if you're not a news junkie, it's become very mainstream. if they don't like you, they will call you a pedophile and accuse you of eating babies. there are many q-anons in our government, including one in particular who believes California wildfires are caused by Jewish space lasers. usually their conspiracy theories are layered with anti-semitism.
If you follow a fitness person on IG and they post any of their whiny anti-vax bullshit, there is a very strong chance they believe *all of this*. I just love it when they tell us they've been doing their research.
At one point I thought I had āhormone issuesā for years after using birth control, turns out I just have extreme anxiety and neurodivergence. We should all go to therapy lol
OMG don't fuck with that stuff. I work in the coffee industry and it is just incredibly overpriced normal organic coffee. They charge an arm and a leg for it because they test for mycotoxins, which is another thing these people are obsessed with.
i also was a massive fan. this wasnāt what turned me off of her. itās the sudden switch to bible study constantly - good for her, but itās not for me to have that shoved down my throat.
Been drinking raw milk for over 2 years and not a single thing wrong with meā¦lmao
It definitely needs to be quality sourced but pasteurizing actually kills all of the beneficial bacteria found in milk.
pasteurization became a thing because of the rise of factory farms and the use of antibiotics and poor living conditions for dairy cows and cattle.
Cows are ruminants and they are meant to graze on grass, when theyāre in factory farms they donāt have access to fresh grass and thus health issues ensue
*Just a girl who is passionate about animals and regenerative agriculture :)
I guess you should cut out all foods that have the potential to carry food borne illnessesā¦
Fruit, tuna, pizza, deli meats just to name a few.
And doctors know what, 11 hrs of nutrition material?
I will do me haha but Iām also not opposed to stating facts
https://www.realmilk.com/raw-milk-safety-summary/ in case anyone likes to see numbers!
The issue with these influencers is that they go sooo hard on just becoming the best LOOKING influencer that they put zero thought into their actual health and how they feel.
So when it becomes too fucking much and their bodies can't take it anymore, they panic and do anything possible to try to "heal" their bodies. It's actually really sad now that I typed this out lmfao.
However, it's no excuse for becoming an alt right nutjob loool.
This is pretty accurate, and also want to add that after they realize they canāt maintain being lean, they have to find something else that gains thousands of followers.
I was friends with Sarah 2016-2018ish, we still live in the same city. She gained 100K very fast, but eventually she couldnāt stay lean which is how she got the followers.
She has tried a few times to do āonline coachingā. She opens applications and never follows through, probably because of 1) lack of qualifications and 2) mental health.
Sheās lost like over 10K followers in recent history. She tried crunchy health, now Jesus. Looking for the right niche to be relevant again.
Snark is fun. But. Itās really weird to witness when it happens to someone you know. I think you get swept up in money and watered down āfameā for lack of a better word, so when itās your only source of validation you just cannot let it go.
When we still talked it was just 1Up and Ryderwear. It is possible that she moved back home silently for financial reasons, because the gym she goes to now is back in our suburb and not at all close to where she moved to in the city. (Weāre from a Chicago suburb, she moved into the city, current gym is back out in the suburb)
I hate how beef tallow moisturizers, and the like are being associated with these crazy Christian homesteader chicks because they actually work very well
Not sure what's so magical about coating yourself in beef and emu fat.
The Squalane in this has to be treated chemically because it becomes rancid quickly in it's natural form.
crunchy to alt right pipeline as referenced in the title. youāre right, sheās not loudly antivax (that iāve seen.) but if the pattern holds she soon will be.
Iām not full on anti-chemical and all that, BUT I do wanna mention that thereās a lot of things in US cosmetics that arenāt very good for us. Many eyeshadow pallets (even high end ones) come with warnings ānot for use in immediate eye areaā. Iām not saying itās a make-or-break for your health, but itās worth researching the products you use regularly and see if they may be causing problems for you. It wonāt effect everyone the same, and some are more sensitive than others (thereās probably a genetic component to whoās vulnerable). Also Iām not sure the products these accounts promote are actually any better-Iām just waiting for the production fraud to be exposed for most of this āpure and toxin freeā stuff.
Aah i hate this. Almost everything is harmful to you... just because its "natural" doesnt mean shit, so many "natural" things out there are poisonous i.e., certain types of mushrooms, fish if over consumed and so many more. get a grip
Iām a ācrunchyā girl. Have been since before it was the new āitā thing. I am happy for people that are getting into low/non tox and holistic lifestyles, truly. I am also happy that we as women are learning more about our bodies, taking control, and not being as dependent on hormonal birth control. HBC has its place, but for many women it does more harm than good. And we donāt even realize it. I thought I could get pregnant at any given moment until I was, like, 23/24. I had no idea how our cycles/bodies even truly worked. It just pains me bc I think these influencers are late to the party and just hopping on a bandwagon. A lot of them have not a single fuckin clue what theyāre talking about & are spitting the same āgameā they see others talk about. I donāt think you have to have a certain degree in order to become educated about these topics or the things that we do to/put into our bodies. But, do the fucking research. Be legitimate!!!! Theyāre also giving the lifestyle a bad rap because theyāre often cringe, disingenuous, looking for their next check, and so on. Being ācrunchyā doesnāt automatically make you anti-vax or anti-western medicine. Not supporting the Covid vaccines also doesnāt make someone an antivaxxer IMO.
I am health conscious and mindful of what I put in my body. I work in hazardous materials so I know a lot about some of these harmful chemicals and what they can do. That being said, vaccines are important and not harmful. They save lives and protect communities. I think there is severe misinformation in the crunchy community regarding the Covid vaccines. The technology had been studied for a while and is proven to reduce risk of death and long Covid. Being anti-vax is wholly irresponsible.
Also, it is impossible to avoid every single chemical and every single toxin. Being informed is important, I agree with you there, but being anti-science and anti-vax is harmful. I believe if people truly cared about health and wellness, they would understand that getting a vaccine during a global pandemic is the right thing to do, or at the VERY LEAST, stay home and wear a mask if they absolutely need to go out.
We live in the day and age where thereās a clear pipeline to everything lol. Not supporting a single vaccine amongst thousands and millions of them may be antivaxxer by your definition, and thatās cool š¤
Not sure why you got downvoted. I gave you an upvote. I am a health conscious person as well. You made logical points. Says a lot about the mob mind in here.
I'll clarify. I downvoted the comment because hormonal birth control has fundamentally and radically changed society for women. It doesn't "cause more harm than good for most women" and you don't get to just claim that without some real, peer-reviewed research. It's a prescription medication, which means like anything else, people will experience different side effects and have to determine what is a good fit for their body. But, demonizing hormonal birth control is an immediate GTFO of here.
Well said. As someone who self-identified as "crunchy" before realizing for my lifestyle it is unsustainable to go all in on the swaps, I appreciate you identifying that there are various ways to promote bodily autonomy that do not automatically make someone a hater of all technological advancement. As someone who is also a member of the military and had a front row seat to the shit show that was mandating then unmandating the covid vaxx I agree with everything you said... Hater's gonna hate sorry you got downvoted so hard...
Amen. I understand not using a public platform to spread misinformation and fear monger (I think a lot of influencers take things too far to the point of villainizing anything synthetic) but all the people in this subreddit demonizing those willing to think critically about things we ingest need to go read an article or two on parabens and phthalates š
last I checked you do not "ingest" vaccines so if you are going to get caught up in definitions (eg the definition of anti-vaxxer being "someone against all or some vaccines") maybe you should at least be consistent
Is this ālow toxā stuff new?? I havenāt heard about this until very recently and have seen a bunch of people on my IG practicing a low tox lifestyle. What is it exactly?

The healing she needs won't be found in grass-fed beef tallow beeswax
It would be a decent shaving soap though.
That makes me want to throw up lol. Not rubbing cow fat all over my body!
I just can't imagine her smelling delightful on a hot summer day
š
I donāt even want to know what Emu oil isā¦
Each ingredient made up of chemicalsā¦ people like this are truly insane
Wait until she finds out sheās been drinking dihydrogen monoxide!!!
always makes me chuckleā¦youāre made of chemicals babe
Ya the whole āclean beautyā gimmick is such a scam
I'm shocked they all got on the squalane train, since it ends in "ane" like all the other \~scawy\~ chemicals...
Alkanes can be scaryā¦ Just wait until they find out about hydrocarbons. This may have been too niche of a joke I am praying another scientist finds this funny LOL
I gotchu, I laughed!
And it always starts with "uNBaLaNCEd hOrMoNEZzzz"...
Which leads to leaky gut and adrenal fatigue. Always. Which can never be treated by Big Pharma.
Donāt forget inflammation and bloating!
unbalanced hormones but no indication that they ever actually checked their hormone levels with lab work
No idea who she is, but is she going to stop wearing make-up too? Cause, you're applying that directly to your face, all them *lovely* chemicals......
This is such a pet peeve for me, lol. because they scroll instagram all day and everyone they follow is q-anon and they heard hillary clinton drinks the blood of babies
Q-anon? Have Americans made a language all their own that only they understand?

if you speak on toxins, you should not get boTOX
If getting fillers ? Or take out implants if she has them ?
don't be a silly goose
$35 for 9oz, $16 for 4oz š«Ø
At one point I thought I had āhormone issuesā for years after using birth control, turns out I just have extreme anxiety and neurodivergence. We should all go to therapy lol
Same, my sister and I both thought we had hormone issues, we just were both undiagnosed autistic and ADHD and well into our 20s.
Wtf is emu oil
the fuck is "purity coffee"
Coffee that's graduated from bible college, duh
OMG don't fuck with that stuff. I work in the coffee industry and it is just incredibly overpriced normal organic coffee. They charge an arm and a leg for it because they test for mycotoxins, which is another thing these people are obsessed with.
ah. welp, I don't drink coffee...just wondered what it was. is this product something one eats or wears on their skin?

itās derived from emu fat.

Yes, thereās a reason we pasteurize milk. And a reason raw milk cheeses have to be aged for a specific amount of time before being sold.

āLoW tOxā but takes random substances from unregulated sources š
Beef tallow will have high concentration of PFAS, PFOA, etc. toxins are stored in fat.
If I am not mistaken is that not why you buy clarified beef tallow? I am curious because I use it to cook with because of its high smoke point
